  1. Why else would you change your name unless you wanted your true identity to remain concealed? You changed your name as a 16 year old. Understandable. This is supposed to be a mature, grown man.
  2. A coach they respect. LOL. When a 16 year old kid can drive himself home from practice but his coach can't, thats not a set up for respect. When a coach attempts to duck the law and gets caught, its not a set up for respect. When a coach knowingly breaks the law and puts the district and the kids at risk, it is not a set up for respect. It sounds as though your user name checks out pretty well. Nobody in town knows much about this? LOL. I live almost three hours away and am out in the field most days, yet here I am somehow knowing whats going on rather intimately. How does that happen if what you say is true?
  3. This ^^^ Italy ISD hired Tenaha's Craig Horn to be their new head coach today. Smith was 101-30 as a head coach with a showing in the 2017 state title game to his name. But no, DLSISD turned him down in favor of a guy who didn't have a district win or a drivers license. smh Even when the issues are solved, you still have this type of decision-making.
  4. I think they coexist within the same body. Its a public site, free to everyone on the planet. I have no idea what the superintendent likes or dislikes. After a page and a half, its surprising that no one has asked the obvious, simple question. Why? Can you imagine a Dennis Alexander, John King or Jack Murphy using an alias? lol, me neither.
  5. Technically, you're incorrect. Coach Nelson is on that page, but its Davin Montgomery's page, whoever that is. he he. Maybe its Nelson's James Bond page. lol
  6. Uh, no and if thats what you took from that, you whiffed. I understand women changing their names in adulthood due to marriage/divorce and whatnot. But what drives a man to change his last name back and forth? I know, it happens all the time. What am I thinking? lol
  7. DHS principle resigned last week. He left to take a job with Longview ISD, where he was employed when he accepted the DHS position. . . . he also headed the committee that nominated Nelson. Anyone on FB? Check out Davin Montgomery. lol.
  8. Actually, the district's attorney will have final say. Every contract action will go through their attorney. That said, should be a no-brainer. Certain information was not disclosed.
  9. This is a good point. And with each passing day, it becomes more critical. IMO, what will happen is the AG will rule that most all of the requests by KETK will need to be honored. Then that becomes a news story for KETK, . . and then the other stations follow that as well as newspapers, internet, etc. So the exposure to the issue really hasn't happened yet. So what happens when the AG finally rules (could be as late as July) and then the stories begin? DLSISD will have some decisions to make, I would think. The students they serve will be watching. I have no doubt that Daingerfield's football team will be coached this coming season, no matter what happens. Its not like there's not someone else to fill in, if needed. The problem is just not knowing what to expect or how to prepare for it. IMO, the key will be what the taxpayers say or do. Nothing would bring about nothing. Some hell raising might bring about some change. I don't reside there so who knows. When I did live there, the board meeting room would be standing room only in a situation like this.
  10. There is a decision coming from the Texas AG regarding the KETK FOIA request. There is a fan. There is caca. The two have not met yet.
  11. Well, the supt signed a contract extension before all this got started and that will take care of her through 2023 I think. One board member, Jim Snyder, has resigned last week over the way this has been dealt with.
  12. Its an adult conversation. You might want to just sit this out. lol
  13. Too much up in the air right now. Most are waiting for the AG's call on the FOIA request from KETK and declined by DLSISD. If the KETK requests had been honored and fulfilled, this would be over right now. We'd have answers and if everything is on the up and up, it's over. We're talking about totally different things instead. But thats not what happened and leads one to believe there is something they want to keep concealed from taxpayers. This will be over when DLSISD follows through with what is some rather basic and standard media FOIA requests. I have a copy of the requests that were filed. Forget egg on faces. These could be omelets. lol
  14. I agree, the district would benefit greatly from some of the homegrown Tigers who are coaches out there. There are several very good ones. But at this point, I don't think any of them would even consider it.
  15. There's your problem in the last sentence. Just move along, nothing to see here. If you're going to be responsible caretakers of the people's money and children, then you don't move along and accept a mistake and force that mistake on your kids. If you're hoping to set an example for the district's kids – this isn't how you do it. This isn't over, unfortunately. But it's no one's fault that its not over except those who still drag it out and fail to do the right thing. If they would do the right thing rather than stalling, it might be over by now. I don't know Waldie or Nelson but did attend a game last year. I don't know who coaches defense but I thought he should be fired after watching a quarter of that game. When did we give up on defense at DF, of all places? lol I've never seen "catch and release" employed on a football field before.
  16. By the way, there are no real sides here. There's a board and admin and a coaching hire process – and there's everyone who noticed something peculiar was going on. It's the actions/decisions which will be deemed right or wrong and those who make them.
  17. Well, its like a bad tooth. Nothing will be right until you extract it. Otherwise, you're just treating the pain and symptoms. There are people in this equation who are outright counting on folks to come to the "I just want to move forward" stuff. That way, they don't have to spend their 15 mins in the spotlight having to be accountable. Its those folks who make me want to puke and are why I speak out. Like I said, there are now more questions than answers, and this FOIA really wasn't the primary problem in play here. It appears the superintendent made an effort or assist, dare I say, on behalf of one of the coaching candidates. Why else does this person scramble only days before the hiring to get the memo produced from someone who is no longer their employee? In the very least, you're going to have a problem getting coaching applicants again if the Nelson thing blows up. Who's going to trust the DLSISD process now?
  18. I don't have that answer. But I know blood in the water when I see it. You don't decline a FOIA request consisting of standard questions about personnel and processes unless there's something there that you don't want anyone else to know the answers. Texas AG will rule on this and it will come out anyway. They know this. And I suspect there will be a "well, he's already in the job now" type mantra to come. Except, it won't be the AD's job that everyone will be taking aim at by then, IMO. Secondarily, another, separate FOIA request did gain a response from the district. This FOIA request was made by a district taxpayer and sought information/documentation about the bar room brawl that supposedly happened at a coaching convention. Their response actually raises more questions than it answers. That FOIA produced a memo from former coach Waldie to Supt. Quarrels detailing the incident. The problem with this memo is – it was written by Waldie when he had already left DF and had begun a new job elsewhere, according to the date on the memo. So either Waldie mysteriously cared about stuff he left behind and you'd think wouldn't matter to him or he was asked by Quarrels to produce this memo. So why would it matter to Waldie whether or not he wrote a memo about an incident almost two months old by then and would have no bearing whatsoever on his new job? Or, why would Quarrels feel the need to pursue Waldie and pursue this memo? The memo is dated only a couple days prior to the board making the Nelson hire. Having a first-hand account of the incident, it was ugly and it was unnecessary and yes, quite juvenile – but nothing I would have fired him over. But I probably would not have, knowing this info, made him my next head coach.
  19. An update . . . DLSISD's administration has responded to KETK/Megan Roy's FOIA request in the form of an appeal. They were unwilling to respond to any of the questions Roy posed in her FOIA request, most of which was standard stuff. So now it will go to the Texas AG where he will decide which questions/info DLSISD will have to surrender or not. DLISD will likely lose their appeal with only one possible exception (one question), so this is more or less just buying some time.
  20. I respectfully disagree. Like other side of the world, disagree. I believe in forgiveness. I also believe in responsibility. Moses was forgiven by God, yet still forbidden from going into the land of milk and honey. After all Moses had been through and done for God? Why? Because laws and rules mean something. This is a position where every student athlete in the school district knows who he is. The HC is a figure head of the entire program. And the example that an institution of education sets in how it handles its issues trickles down to the students they are supposed to serve. So if this gets swept under the rug without consequence, you are effectively teaching your kids that its okay to cheat because once you get caught you can then be sorry and ask for forgiveness and get yourself a pass. You are effectively rewarding bad behavior for the community's kids to see. You're also setting him up for failure. Don't think he won't be the blunt of jokes from the community and perhaps even in his own locker room for the foreseeable future. Sometimes, its best that you just part ways and try to start over. Thats probably not going to happen here. Instead, this will be an ongoing train wreck. Nothing good will come from something that starts out in deception and dishonesty.
  21. It is deeply rich how you can, in one breath, suggest (without evidence or reason) that DA can't get a job and a red flag has been raised to everyone . . then in the same post you attempt to criticize others for slanderous remarks. You're a piece of work there. lol Perhaps the reason Crankshaft's posts are negative because the subject he's talking about presents few options? When caca hits the fan, there's nothing wrong with noticing.
  22. Has absolutely nothing to do with a DWI. You are required to have two things to drive a vehicle. The removal of one thing by the state was caused by the failure to have the other when he caused a bad wreck. Such suspensions are held in place when no attempt is made to pay anything back thats owed. This situation has existed through his last three jobs as well as this one. He has driven district vehicles with student/athletes to events and drove a vehicle to a coaching clinic loaded with coaches. Imagine the liability in play for the district there. SMH No, this isn't going away. Laws and rules are in place for reason. DISD may not let the guy go, but they're going to get beat up pretty good if they do not. The situation is already embarrassing and is about to get worse.
  23. Daingerfield admins would probably love for this to blow over. But its about to get real. FOIA requests were submitted today.
  24. HS Playoff games are being moved up to Thursday. Aledo vs WFalls Thursday at 6 instead of Friday. Same venue. Poteet to play Ennis Thursday at 6. Venue moved to Kincade Stadium, Dallas from Allen. Highland Park vs Wylie to play in Allen instead of Southlake.
