What inning and who's home team?

Looks like it willl be Benbrook advancing to face Kilgore or Melissa in Region 2. My money is on Kilgore.

Benbrook wins??? It's over now?

In my mind the only team in 4A that has played a schedule similar to the schedule Argyle has played this season is...........SWEENY!! And I do believe WHO you play makes all the difference in HOW the team performs when they are tested. The only team to notch a win against Argyle in 2 yrs has been Southlake Carroll in the Highland Park tournament this season......they were last year's 6A State Champion. But they've already been eliminated and some 5A and 6A teams Argyle defeated are still playing this week. So that's baseball. BTW......Argyle won the HP tournament.

If you google the Denton Record Chronicle.......there's several good articles on Argyle yesterday and today. I don't know how to show the link.....otherwise I would put it here for you.

But this is baseball........anything and everything comes into play and any team can beat any team on a given night......especially when playing quality playoff teams that are good too.

But when you watch them.......you just scratch your head and "YEP, they are really really good, for sure." And they are!

Yep.......but this game will be a great test for Argyle to get ready for the one-gamers in Austin, too. Just one game for all the marbles to advance or go home........all the pressure is on Argyle, not Iowa Park. Iowa Park was not expected to get here, but they did. Argyle is the odds-on favorite to repeat.......that's inward pressure every game they play.

They have TWO very good pitchers that throw strikes and give up few runs. If they need to win, they will throw both if needed. They also have a good defense.....so there you go. They know they cannot match up with Argyle position to position.......so they will take a swing at us in a one-gamer and see if they can create some magic. They just need to play error-free and hope Argyle makes a mistake or two. It can happen in this game........but probably won't. Argyle is rolling strong now.......the strongest all season long now.

Here's the latest scoop......Iowa Park(34-2) won the flip and opted for a one-gamer for all the marbles against Argyle(37-1-1) in the Region I Final set for next Wednesday at ACU at 8 PM. It will be the Eagles vs the Hawks for a trip to Austin.

Any news on the Robinson/Huffman Hargrave game tonight???

Spring Hill/Benbrook will be fun to watch for that rubber match of the series for the right to advance to next week's Region 2 Final.....now that PG is gone. Looks like Kilgore is making things tough for Melissa in Game 2 now too.

Here's a surprise score for the night......Iowa Park gets by Hereford 1-0 in Game 1 of the series. Argyle's Ricker tosses a 6-inning no-hitter to blank Canyon 9-0. Russell for Argyle maintains the no-hitter in the top half of the 7th and gets the save. Argyle scores 9 runs on 10 hits with no errors as Ricker K's 6 and walks 4. His walks used up his pitch count after 6 innings at 102 pitches per UIL rules. Game 2 for both series at Abilene Christian University tomorrow......with Game 3 following, if needed. Iowa Park vs Hereford begins at noon. Argyle vs Canyon begins at 6 pm. All games will conclude tomorrow in Abilene. Two teams will advance to the Region 1 Finals tomorrow heading into a long Memorial Day weekend with no baseball in the mix for any of these 4 teams playing to advance.

I've been saying all along that Benbrook has a really well-rounded team.......they don't have a good record for nothing. They will be a tough out in Region 2 for sure. Now SH has its work cut out for them just to send this series to a 3rd and deciding game.

Sometimes in predistrict a coach deliberately tests his players and "other pitching staff" to force the boys to play to their highest level......since the outcome is not as important as the intended purposes. Those purposes may really help the team later in the season.

In fact.......at this point NO teams should be looking forward except to their matchup next week. Argyle has to get past Canyon first.

Regarding the baseball regions.......I wouldn't discount Iowa Park in Region 1 too quickly. They've only lost 2 games all year long and have played a bunch of good teams......Argyle included. Argyle beat them IN Argyle 9-2.......but that was not a series or a neutral site.

But they do keep moving us around every two years.......it gets confusing trying to remember what years we were what.

Yeah......there are only 4 districts in each region in 4A-D1 football.

When Abilene Wylie moved up to 5A in Region 1.......that left a void to fill. So I think they decided Argyle was the team to fill that spot.

Region 1 in both......until they move us again. I'm not sure they will move us back to Region 2, though. I think they like us being in Region 1.

Sweeny has lots of Senior retuners from a very successful team last year and are highly capable of winning the whole enchilada......end of that story. Now......they are subject to losing just like any team left.......mostly all teams left are the cream that has risen.
