  1. OK, I'll just leave this right here. I'm sure lots of folks will get to this topic soon enough.
  2. WHAT?!?!?! Teague let Rockdale hang 24 on them!? Cameron only allowed 6 points by Rockdale?? I thought the Teague defense was lights out?? Just kidding, LOL! Common opponents offer very little insight into the game that will be played this coming Friday. Make all the comparisons you like, but Friday night it will be a whole different ballgame, with what I believe is the ultimate State Champ emerging victorious. Of course I believe it will be Cameron, but should Teague pull it off, I think they would go on to represent Region 3 and take the title as well.
  3. Worry??? I think not. I, and others, have said many times before......Yoe teams have been in this position about 20 times over the last 4 years. We don't worry, we prepare. You should always be wary of any upcoming opponent, that is only natural. I think 'worry' is a bit of a strong word that is not in the Yoe vernacular. Does Teague match up well......absolutely, but we have had plenty of other teams that matched up well over the years, and other teams that the general public thought matched up even better. Ultimate outcome......Cameron win. I still have to give the edge to Cameron despite any shortcomings they have, because they always get it done no matter what. Good luck to both teams!! Can't wait for Friday, then our young men can settle this on the field!!
  4. I totally agree. The whole taking a knee thing is so silly. I was just talking about that to my kids today when we were watching the UMHB playoff game at Crusader Stadium. There was an injured player on the field and they asked why nobody was taking a knee. I asked why they thought it was necessary, and they said it was a sign of respect. I wholeheartedly agreed, but I said why can't you be respectful and stand up??? I have been at a high school game listening to Moms in the stands literally losing their minds (and voices) yelling at the opposing team because someone happened to be standing when their son was on the turf because he broke a freakin' nail!? I can appreciate the gesture, but you rarely, if ever, see a college or pro team take a knee unless it is a serious injury. Give it a rest folks, it's not that big of a deal. I hate seeing young men go down for any reason, especially a serious injury, but taking a knee is not required by rule, and does nothing to actually help the situation. If you want to take a knee, cool. If not, cool. For those that think it is off the reservation disrespectful......get over yourself. Here is the reason why it is really done: The take a knee practice started in youth football- if a player goes down there is no trainer, it's the coaches who deal with injuries, so the question was, what do you have a bunch of 6-9 year olds do while the coaches are tending to the injuried player? They had them take a knee and be still in a show of respect- LOL, but it was all about keeping the kids on the sideline under control while the coaches were busy. It was never something we did as players, you don't see college teams do this as a matter of course but it's entered high schools through the youth leagues because parents and players have become CONDITIONED to it. As a HC I always let the players do as they saw fit during an injury- take a knee or remain standing. (some players do not want "sit" still they want to keep moving around- nervous energy) So, it has become a symbolism over substance thing.
  5. Agreed!! Their is no transitive property in Texas High School Football. I can surely see how one would like to make the correlation, but it is a pretty slippery slope to think you are going to beat a certain team just because you beat a mutual opponent by a larger margin. When Teague beat Malakoff this year, did they rally and come back from a 32-7 deficit? That says a LOT about a team. In fact, it says more to me than the winning margin of the final score. That shows heart, determination, and a willingness to dig down deep and embrace the $uck!! The Yoemen fought back like champions in that game. I have a feeling Teague might be seeing some more of that next Friday.
  6. It is unfortunate, but true. PAT's are hit or miss with us. Kicking game in general can be suspect at times, and it is a chink in the armor. I am not even sure if we have a single field goal for the year? I am not positive, as I was not able to attend all the regular season games, but there have been no FG attempts at any games I have been at. So far this season it has been a non-factor, but you never know when something like that might sneak up and bite you in the @$$. Championship caliber games tend to expose even the slightest weakness. Not trying to be Debbie Downer or anything, just being honest. Thankfully, Cameron makes up for that flaw in other areas. Whew!! Even with that issue, I still see Cameron pulling this one out and meeting up with the Region 4 winner.
  7. Just realized you were from Teague, duh! Now I understand. How about Teague +7?? Does that sound better?
  8. From Yoe Nation.......thank you. I think???? Not 100% sure. Anyhoo, historically speaking you have to give the advantage to the Yoemen. The incredible amount of experience in the big game situation, and a well seasoned coaching staff absolutely tips the scale in Cameron's favor. I am sure that Teague has a team chock full of athletes, and that they are all hungry to dethrone the long-reigning champs, but we have been down this road with so many other teams with the exact same aspirations, and we always end up with the same end state.......a Cameron win. Is this the game that changes that trend.......I don't think so, but your mileage may vary depending on what side of the fence you are on. I totally understand that Teague fans are going to be on here rooting for their team and predicting a huge Lions upset........why wouldn't they? And of course the Cameron fans will be on here predicting a 96 point drubbing at the hands of the mighty Yoe. We shouldn't expect anything less. It boils down to all those young men and their respective coaching staff who have put in so much work getting to this very point. All us old fellers can get on here and blow all the hot air we want, but we have no influence on the outcome of this game. We just like to stir it up a bit on their behalf. I do honestly believe this will be a heckuva game, and fun to watch. Of course I want Cameron to win, but I never underestimate an opponent, and I know Teague will come out #### off and ready to fight to the very end. Nobody is just going to roll over and give it up to anyone at this point in the process. We have gotten to a position in the bracket where we have weeded out all the non-hackers, and the only teams left are the gritty, gutsy, balls to the wall teams that want to play in Houston. Unfortunately, somebody has to lose and go home, since this is not an "everybody gets a trophy" situation. So one of these extremely talented teams will be turning in gear on December 7th. My long standing wish throughout the entire season is that none of our young men suffer any type of serious injury, from either school. Bottom line......I think Cameron defense has to step it up, especially the secondary, and the offense needs to control the line of scrimmage and wear down the Lions with a punishing, and morale killing run game featuring T. Smith, plus airing it out just enough to keep Teague off balance. I just hope it doesn't come down to special teams, field goals or PAT's, because that is Cameron's achilles heel this year for sure. The team that makes the fewest mistakes and/or turnovers will hold a HUGE advantage as well. We know you're coming Teague. We know you want revenge. We hear you, and we understand, because we have been there and done that. The best I can say is "Good luck to you sir," because Cameron and the Yoe faithful will be there in full force, and we don't tend to go down easy. Good luck to both squads!! Cameron by 7. :D
  9. Right back at ya!!! Yoemen rooting for Wildcats too! Another great season from Temple, keep rolling!!
  10. McLane Stadium would be nice, but I heard it will be WISD stadium again, according to KWTX sports anyway.
  11. Game over. It will be Teague. Just waiting to hear field and date/time. I am guessing Waco ISD again, but you never know.
  12. Teague up 30-23 with 6:00ish left in game. My FSSWDCTF app came back up. ;)
  13. Yep, Fox Sports SW DCTF Football Friday's mobile app is down so many of us can't follow the score anymore. Haven't seen an update since West went up 20-16. UGH.....
  14. I wouldn't say Yoe had their hands full. Although it was back and forth until the 4th quarter, Grandview never led at any point in the game, and Cameron ultimately won by 14. I think Teague moves on, and the Cameron vs. Teague game should be awesome!! See you in Waco........again!!
  15. I thought it was a pretty good game. Back and forth scoring all the way up until the 4th quarter. I will say Cameron dodged a bullet when the Grandview QB (dang that kid was BIG) just barely overthrew a wide open receiver running into the end zone in the 4th quarter after our cornerback bit on the bubble fake. I know it is a 'what if" at this point, but if Grandview would have made that play, I think the momentum would have shifted a bit. Instead, Cameron blew up the next play for a turnover on downs and finished up strong, which is all that counts. Cameron turned it up a notch exactly when they needed it, going up by two scores for the first time in the game with only a few minutes left. Still a few things to work on, but all in all, another great win to keep the dream alive!! Keep it up Yoemen!! We will see shortly, but my guess would be next week against Teague.
  16. Got it. Makes perfect sense now. Thank you for clarifying.
  17. Malakoff hung 70-something on who??? Not Cameron. I don't think we have even played Malakoff in the last 10-15 years??? I will assume Allday is from somewhere else.
  18. I will give Malakoff the respect they deserve, and will not underestimate their abilities ever. That being said, Cameron has only lost a single game, and that was to a 4AD1 school that is currently doing well in the playoffs in their respective bracket. And even that game was extremely close, and decided in the final minute of the game.........and allegedly by the referees depending on who you ask. I realize Malakoff has only lost a single game also, but Cameron historically tends to get stronger as the playoff games get deeper in the season. The Yoe know how to step it up for big games, and we have heard a zillion times how the "King is going to be dethroned this week." Honestly, I've lost track of how many times I've heard that in the last 4 years, and guess how many times it has come to fruition. Ummm, zero. Cameron has the definite edge in coaching and experience in this situation, so I have to think that Cameron emerges victorious once again. It should definitely be a good game, and we should expect nothing less at this level. Nobody is going to bend over and just let Cameron have a cakewalk to the next round, so I am sure that Malakoff will come out with a chip on their shoulder as the probable underdog in this game. Best of luck to both squads, and I hope all the players emerge on the other side of this battle injury free! Cameron by 14
  19. Posted by Yoe09 in another thread......... "Cameron has been on a slight decline over the past several years. As of the past realignment, there were 46 3A DI schools that had a higher enrollment than Cameron, making the Yoemen about a middle of the road division I school. In the past snapshot, Cameron turned in 390 and the cutoff was 465. Since that snapshot, I believe the enrollment is now around 400. The current 8th grade class is larger, but not large enough to push 465. Cameron will be in 3A at least the next 3 years. After that, we will have to wait and see what the upcoming classes have." Anything can happen in Texas High School Football, but I will definitely say it is teed up for the Yoemen for the next year or two. It is theirs to take if they do all the right things again. If they can keep players healthy and keep attitudes in check, they should be good to go........but that's why they play the games. Nobody is just going to roll over for them and let them cruise easily into a 4-peat, or a 5-peat. At that point teams go above and beyond to prepare for you so they can be the team that is talked about for dethroning the champ. Coach Rhoades and the entire coaching staff are a pretty sharp group, and it is well proven they know how to prepare their team as well, so it will be interesting to watch how it plays out in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
  20. I think your version of the facts are strangely skewed. Yep, our receiver head-butted a Mineola player, AFTER that Mineola player took a cheap shot at him, AFTER he had scored and the play was clearly over. It doesn't make either action correct, but the Mineola player initiated it. I heard somebody say our running back was 'showboating' by slowing down going into the end zone. It looked like he was just slowing down to me. Does that allow the Mineola player to come in and blast him after the play?? Check me if I'm wrong, but slowing down, or even showboating if that's what you want to call it, isn't an offense that draws a flag. HOWEVER, a late hit will draw a flag. Granted the Mineola player only ended up delivering a glancing blow, but it was a late hit nonetheless. You thought Cameron's #24 threw a punch, when what he actually did was punch at the hand of the Mineola player who would not let go of his jersery some 5-10 seconds after the whistle had been blown and the Mineola player was still trying to pull him down to the ground. Once again, neither action was correct, but the Mineola player initiated it. I did see the Yoe player stick his hands in the face of the kid on the ground, and that is uncalled for, but the officials did not see it, and there was no penalty. Drop it and move on. Nobody was hurt, and it did not impact the game in an adverse manner. The officials are human, and they don't see every single offense that occurs on the field. I'm sure Mineola got away with a few too.........or are they angelic choir boys who would never shame their community by commiting a penalty?? I'm sure Coach Rhoades will be in that young man's face about that later when he sees the tape.
  21. The wrong idea about the community?? The whole community?? Really?? Hornet, that is commonly referred to as a hasty generalization. And last time I checked, the Yellow Jackets were doing all the same things on the field that any of the Cameron players were doing. Do we immediately assume everyone in Mineola is suddenly a "dirty" person as well? Get a grip dude. There is no excuse for unsportsmanlike behavior, and that is why they have penalties, but if we are all going to sit here and pretend like this is the first time we have ever seen anything like this, and act appalled...........I find that unbelievably hilarious. Coach Rhoades will set the Yoemen straight, I guarantee it. Congrats to Mineola for getting this far. It's never any fun for young men to work this hard, get this far, and then suffer a nasty loss like that. That being said, I think it is 100% evident that Cameron is the dominant team, and now a 3 time State Champ. No matter what any of the haters say on here, congrats to a wonderful Cameron community also.
  22. I completely understand supporting your team Relentless, so I have no issue with that whatsoever. I'm a firm believer in rooting for your own team and not tearing down the opponent, so I try to keep it positive and focused on Cameron. However, do you know how many times we have heard teams saying "Yoe doesn't know what is coming for them now?" Well, I think it would be approximately 16 times in the last three years in the playoffs, and we know what the final results of those 16 games has been. (hint: it's 16-0) Quite the contrary......Cameron knows exactly what is coming for them every week. Every team that comes out against Yoe is pumped up, fired up, coached up and ready to go. Opposing schools spend all week hoping to be the ones to knock off the reigning back to back State Champs and ending the potential for a 3-peat. The Yoemen fully understand they have a HUGE target on their back every single time they take the field. Several teams have even started out strong and seemed to be getting the best of Yoe in the initial minutes of the game, sometimes even through the first half. However, the Yoe players and coaches are a calculating group and do not get flustered easily. Instead they slowly begin picking other teams apart, exposing weaknesses and quietly hanging a lot of points on the board, while the Yoe defense comes alive and begins the process of shutting down even the most productive offenses. Huge props to the Yoe coaching staff, who are the absolute masters of halftime adjustments. Seriously, they do a crazy good job. As I always do, I would like to congratulate Mineola for getting to the 'ship game. It takes a lot of hard work, heart, dedication, intestinal fortitude, and a great fan base to get there. The Yoemen players, coaching staff and community are painfully aware of what it takes to get to Jerry's world, so we respect what our opponents have to done to get their as well. Cameron has also proven they know how to handle business once they have arrived. Good luck to both squads. No matter what is said in this thread, it is the fine young men of both schools who will have the final say this coming Thursday night. Unfortunately, somebody has to lose, and it will hurt. You hate to wish that on these young men, but we have to root for our respective kids, coaches and schools. So while I respect the accomplishments of Mineola up to this point........GO YOE!! Hoping to see a great game with NO injuries. Yoe by 14.
  23. Big shocker here, but I will be going with the Yoemen. Although I bet it will be a battle, and a close game. Cameron is playing with a ferocity I had not seen earlier in the season. I don't know what Coach Rhoades is putting in their Gatorade, but I hope he increases the dosage for the game against Rockdale! Plus, you can ask a coach at any level, they never want to play a team twice in the same season. Just ask Pete Fredenburg at UMHB about squeaking by TLU 27-20 in their first playoff game after beating the pi$$ out of them in the regular season 72-16. Things change, coaches learn, teams morph, players heal, leaders step up, etc., etc., etc. And don't think I am taking anything away from the Tigers. Quite the contrary.......I want to congratulate them for reaching the quarterfinals. It speaks volumes about our District, and shows everyone else what kind of talent we compete against day in and day out, long before we get to the playoffs. We are the only District in 3A/D1 that still has two teams hanging tough. I have no doubt that both coaches will have their teams well prepared, and that all of those young men will be chomping at the bit to get after it again on the gridiron!! Battle of the Bell Version 2.0!! Here we go Yoe!!
