  1. These statements seem to be somewhat contradictory- u don't have a dog in the hunt, u don't live or work in Garrison, but ur disdain is with the school board? Doesn't make much sense to a simple fella like me. I'm guessing there's more to it than that...
  2. By the way, garrison allowed less than HALF the points that EF allowed against arp. They also had the opportunity to score more points than EF scored, but chose to kneel the ball. This is on top of the very sloppy play by garrison overall as some others have mentioned. We still have several kinks to work out before playoffs roll around. Garrisons running game was pretty weak. We rely way too much on big plays. Not much consistency there.
  3. To the west rusk fans- u can put about 0% confidence in ANYTHING that jj says lol. Just go check out the arp vs garrison posts. However, with that said, I've gotta go with arp this week. I know they'll be looking forward to getting back to .500 in district play.
  4. I can live with that statement, but arp wouldn't even be able to hang with brook hill...
  5. hey if thats what the community wants, more power to them. i guess they just still have a lot more of that oil/gas money floating around than most town do.
  6. i gotcha. i can see that being part of "the pitch", but if they passed a bond in order to purchase it, i dont think those sponsorships and advertisements are going to cover much of that cost. but who knows? people in east texas are pretty crazy/serious about their football. they may see more donations than ever before.
  7. lol oh ok i gotcha. thanks. im getting a late start this season. didnt wanna dig through forever trying to locate it. it just caught my eye since it was on google news homepage...
  8. this may have already been discussed, but i havent found a topic about it. but carthage made national news today... http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390444914904577621510838314638.html $750,000 for a scoreboard? sounds like theyre either completely oblivious to the fact that we're in a pretty weak economy, or the school board just frankly doesnt care about the taxpayers... i mean dont get me wrong- i know that theyll be proud now that its here, but i would have liked to hear the nutjob that first presented this idea, and then the other nutjobs that supported it lol. unless of course there was a very generous donation to pick up the tab... any thoughts? or does anyone even care?
  9. i dont think there will be any championship predictions this year. at least not realistic ones anyway... garrison definitely has some areas they need to improve on, and although its early in the season, its the slowest start theyve had in several years in my opinion. but with the new style of offense, it seems to bring with it promises of lighting up the scoreboard. if the defense can hold their own, the dogs have the potential to put some points on the board this week and hang on for a win. and like hayseed said- next week may be a different story...
  10. http://www.brazossports.com/article/20120817/BC0101/120819622/1043/bs heres some more info ^^^
  11. this looks a little odd to me... and then u say that "We only got about 130 kids in high school." so ur sayin yall have 95 boys to 35 girls in high school over there? thats wild... is it accurate?
  12. other than one error in the article, it was a good one."Conway was the defensive coordinator in 2003 under Ron Callahan when the Timpson went to the semi-finals." they actually went to the quarter finals, where garrison beat them at sfa by 25 or 30 points. speaking of, im disappointed that garrison and timpson won't be playing their annual "battle of the attoyac". but i am glad to hear that conway is over there, and hope he has success there.
  13. hes an athlete, but yea i think there were several people saying the same thing last year.....
  14. coach spivey would have been crazy to take the AD job even if they chose him. he's a hometown boy with no plans of leaving anytime soon from what i understand. taking the AD job would have meant a guarantee that at some point down the road, he would have been kicked to the curb whether he liked it or not... and westbrook would not make a very good head coach in my opinion...
  15. yea, but it can't be any worse than last year's district lol. i don't think you could do them any favors even if you wanted to...
  16. garrison went back up to 2a. i think they will still compete well, but probably no more semi-finalist teams for a while...
  17. yea i just tried to refresh it, and of course it froze up. guess i'll just hope for the best on smoaky...
  18. so is my information incorrect about washington staying one more year, or is timpson hiring ONLY an AD and not a head football coach???
  19. now that part i dont know. but i would think that with timpson being such a small school, the head football coach will also be AD, as most small schools cannot justify paying those positions seperately...
  20. from what i understand, coach washington still has a year on his contract, and intends to stay in timpson until then. originally i had heard he was leaving regardless of what happened, but now i've heard he will be there one more year.
  21. haha, yea and then do like nacogdoches and change the rules to conform to the lifestyles of the "elite" kids. that got em lots of PR lol
  22. oh wow, i didn't know that. after winning their district this year, moving down to 1a next year could be a very promising year for the wolves.
  23. how many did they turn in this year? i actually heard a rumor the other day that the UIL may actually DROP the 1a-2a cutoff. most arguments are the opposite of that, stating that they need more 1a teams to fill the districts like the other classifications... guess we'll know in february. and no, mt. will not win state in any sport. thats just funny lol.
  24. lol, he only had one play on there against garrison. but i think he's a much better athlete than even these highlights show. these films look like for the most part its a bunch of wide open holes that anybody could have run through. a few show him making some people miss and just outrunning people, but he was really fun to watch.
  25. Two of the garrison coaches played at ghs, and I've heard one of them say that it's pretty laid back, and very little contact goin on...
