  1. Throw the '22 Waco Tigers in there somewhere...
  2. I heard it was Mexia's decision not to swap home games. If it was Yoe's and now we end up uaving to travel almost to Fort Worth, that really was stupid. At any rate, I'm sure Mexia's hoping the dustance cuts down on Yoe Nation attendance...
  3. All I can say is, I agree, and I hope you're right. The other issue is, getting Yoe Nation to make the drive and SHOW UP, and BE LOUD.
  4. ...BWAAAA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAAA!!! #WalkAway Just walk. The hell. AWAY.
  5. Simple solution: Rename the school Tyler Liberty and change the mascot to Patriots.
  6. What can't Layne do that Brashear can, if you want to make that point? Layne's not perfect. Looked like Smitherman or Andress overthrowing open receivers on occasion. But he can see over the line, he can run, and he's got some zip on his throws when he wants to. Same old story with the D. Couldn't find the ball on misdirection plays all night. Coaching seemed to consist of "Strip the ball! Strip it!" and not much else. O-line did at least get hands on somebody at the snap, unlike the last couple years. If they can actually improve to opening holes, the running game will be okay.
  7. Actually, we need to hope that the players and the fans are all in too.
  8. Wow. Everybody seems pretty convinced of Brock's ability.
  9. After the major letdown of last season? Duh. I don't believe that decision was made before 7-on-7. I will say this: No matter how much anyone may disagree with Coach's decision, Braden Brashear is a Yoemen. If his teammates are truly Yoemen, they will be there for him to do their jobs the best they can, to make the best of the situation, and rise as one.
  10. Well, we'll see if this affects the roster, or anything else... So, straighten this out: Coach names his boy starting QB, apparently doesn't tell anyone (Yesterday was the first the Laynes say they heard about it, from this site), and jumps town on vacation?
  11. Yeah, but I don't want to go back to being satisfied with making the playoffs. No, I don't expect to get to the title game every year. And I do expect to have a down season every once in a while. But I expect the program to act in a manner and take proper steps to instill in our student-athletes a strong desire to succeed, and the will to commit to winning with honor. But I also expect Yoe Nation to keep that fire we're known for and not get complacent just because we finally got a few big trophies in the case. #NeverSatisfied
  12. Go back and read what I said from Jump Street: I love Tommy to death, and I think he's a great coach. But anyone who pays attention to how things go down in this town knows that certain people with certain names, certain titles, and certain checking accounts have stroke and like to get their way. And that goes for the Yoe sports programs too.
  13. Wonder how Malakoff's going to like that Region?
  14. All the information we need! ... When is it?
  15. Not sweatin' it. Wedge is just trying to instigate. When he says something that makes him sound like he knows what he's talking about, maybe it'll get interesting.
  16. Ummm, yeah, actually, quite a number of those "top row" guys you're mouthing off about were winners under York, Sapp, and even Rhoades. And some of them have boys of their own who have been in the system since they were adolescents, and have spent quality time with many of the other young men on the team. So yeah, they know a little bit about the game and the politics in. And yes, being taxpayers/parents in CISD very much gives us the right to voice our knowledgeable opinions on the subject.
  17. "Trainwreck" is an excellent description. But you spelled "is" wrong. Until proven otherwise, the situation in Cameron is a pathetic shame. At this point, Cameron ISD taxpayers are ready to vote the entire schoolboard out on the street if things don't drastically improve, and quickly.
  18. NONE of them. And yeah, I kind of get the four-second thing. But come on. Since they've started this spread offense thing in high schools, I've said, "You have to be able to check down off the coverage if you're going to run that offense", and people keep telling me, "They're high school kids!" Well, then don't make them throw a pass in less than four seconds. Hell, at least learn to pump-fake.
  19. AND their Oklahoma-bound multi-position athlete, AND their stud LB... BIG PROPS, by the way, to Tigers LB Junior Harris! Not a bad couple of seasons for a kid who thought about not playing before his junior year! And now you're not done yet! KEEP TEARIN' IT UP AND TERRORIZING OFFENSES, LIL' BUTKUS!
  20. Their own sports writer in the Herald doesn't even have them in his own Top 20.
  21. I actually was unimpressed with what I saw of the entire process. Like I said, seemed like not much more than a glorified "pick up" game. I'll tell you this: I watched both ends of the field as much as I could, and other than QBs going to another receiver after a "red zone" play didn't pan out and broke down into a scramble in the end zone, I didn't see a single QB - NOT. ONE. ANY of them - check down off a primary route. From what I understand, coaches are employing these stats in their decision-making process. For example, I am told Brashear does have a slightly higher overall completion percentage than Layne in 7-on-7. But I was also told that Brashear has played more downs with the prospective starting WRs. I also Lara has a better completion percentage than both of them. While participating in far fewer events. I fail to see how these 7-on-7 competitions can even pretend to be anything more than an exercise for QBs and WRs/DBs to "stay in shape."
  22. So... Rumor is - and understand, I've heard this from more than two sources - multiple varsity players have told Coach Brashear that they want one quarterback, but Brashear is allegedly taking that to mean support for his son. However, rumor is up to twelve players are saying around town that if Layne isn't named starter, they're not going to play. Word I hear is that coaches have already told Layne that they want him to play receiver this fall. So I've asked around, and the info I've gathered is that besides Layne being at least a head taller than Brashear (approx 6'4), he has attended Todd Dodge's QB camp multiple years, and is a senior, I believe. Also, like former QB Nickerson, Layne has built a toughness playing defense. I attended my first 7-on-7 this evening. Hell, I used to do that stuff on Yoe Field with Coach Brashear and Coach Magre twenty-five years ago. We would play 6-on-6, 8-on-8, whatever, depending how many guys showed up. Wasn't really impressed.
