  1. Granted, if you're a district champ, you SHOULD have no problem handling a fourth-place team. District champs should be rewarded. Since the UIL took away their first-round bye, this home field proposal is a good alternative. The REAL issue is, what if a star player gets injured playing a first-round, fourth-place opponent who's only in the playoffs because someone wanted to make more money? And don't even try to argue that the UIL added those fourth-place teams for any other reason.
  2. You know, Yoe was in those playoffs every year, and as district champs we had first-round byes until they added the fourth team. That's why Rhoades started scheduling the regular season bye at the end of the season.
  3. Athlon's College Football is out. The only player from a Texas school on their pre-season All-America team (first, second OR third) is a punt returner from TCU. And the Longhorns are the only Texas team in their Top 20. At #20.
  4. Ummm, no. Playoffs still had the same number of rounds before they let fourth seeds in. Essentially, district champs got punished by getting their first-round bye taken away just so someone could make more money.
  5. Yoe has had our BELL forbidden at games. If it means we get to have our Bell, I don't care what anyone else brings.
  6. Should never have added a fourth team per district. We all know they did that just for the money. In my opinion, district champs should get a first round bye AND home field in second round. Wanna talk about incentive...
  7. Vince McMahon keeping an eye on him?
  8. How'd that happen? Yoe Nation didn't go anywhere near the place!
  9. No idea about the Tigers OC. Been saying, word is there has been a significant degeneration of discipline in the Yoe football program...
  10. Yeah. And considering they've already had worsening problems last couple of years that need to be addressed, having to play stars both ways on top of that is going to be interesting to watch.
  11. It It's 7-on-7. Last season proved that what Yoe does in 7-on-7 doesn't mean squat.
  12. As has been pointed out - and I can tell you I have been told this by many fans who have missed Thu title games over the last six years - These people would walk to Albuquerqe to see their boys play for a championship. Don't have to worry about whether they'll watch a broadcast.
  13. Oh, yeah, for logistical reasons, and I get that. Also, because it's easier for Fox Sports to only have to set up their broadcast from one location. And I get that there's favoritism toward the 5A and 6A teams because they bring larger crowds, i.e. more customers. BUT, it's still not right that smaller schools and their fans are "punished" for not bringing a larger customer base. Smaller schools who EARN their appearances in state title games just like larger schools do are relegated to having to MISS SCHOOL DAYS to compete in these title games, they have to deal with SHORTER WEEKS TO PREPARE, and they have lots of just-as-dedicated fans who MISS OUT on getting to attend these games in person because they are working people who can't take off work to make the trip to attend on Wednesday and Thursday. I look forward to more parity in this situation, and through discussions with other small-school fans I know I am not alone.
  14. If they split the games between locations, all games can be held Friday night and Saturday.
  15. Yeah, Centex1 is exactly right - NRG treated their guests (teams, schools, fans) like they were doing us a favor and we were a pain in their @$$es that weekend. Looking forward to enjoy seeing my team play for a fourth consecutive title in my hometown, I was really disappointed in the experience. Still, I would hope they learned their lesson, and that the Alamodome gets their stuff together, because a LOT of small-school teams and fans would like to have their title games on the weekend instead of on Thursday.
  16. Exactly. According to the article, parents had to get Feds involved to get anything done. School and police say they couldn't confirm victims' story, but soon as FBI got involved, they did. Either school and police didn't get the job done, or they covered it up to protect the program.
  17. Ummm, don't know what "spin" you're talking about. I'm just saying, yes, this makes most talk about what's going on with coaches inconsequential. But what happened with the Carthage coaching staff covering up (much less participating in) what happened to that young lady needs to have a big deal made about it.
  18. Probably outtakes from the NFL Network SuperBowl pre-game trailer...
  19. Yeah, except for the talk about what might be fixing to happen to Surratt and the Carthage staff.
