Am I completely out of touch with rules or is it not still illegal to hold football meetings with students and or practice before or after school during the offseason

I’m guessing you watched Lovelady play 7 on 7 last year.

All probationary employees can be let go for any number of reasons very easily. While if on a Dual-Term if that's what the coaches have, they have to be offered the same contract with no loss of money but they could be reassigned out of athletics. (If not offered then several wright ups over the past school year along with documentation of meetings is necessary) . This is why some schools don't do dual contracts and treat coaching separately. That way they can be reassigned and can loose the coaching money since it wasn't contractually obligated. This is a double edge sword too. Because they can get out of coaching and still retain the teaching spot. Thus why most school districts do dual contracts as you resign from one you resign from both.

If they’re probationary and dual it’s real simple…”I need your teaching field for the coaches I’m bringing in.”

If they’re on term, reassign their responsibilities and then document everything they do if they don’t resign and hope the supt will float an extra set of stipends so you don’t essentially coach a man down.

Typically coaches get it and will move along. There’s only a handful that will be a PITA.

  3. Ah, LK...

...and this is the time of year I like to bring up how they botched the hiring of a really, REALLY good AD about 10 years ago.  Went special session and voted 4-3 to accept him.  One of the 3 that voted no wanted someone else, and the other 2 only voted no because they weren't on the hiring committee.  Said coach went back to where he was.  Can't say I don't blame him at all.

Good luck to the person landing this gig.

  4. The community thinks that because the community wants to be there then obviously everyone wants to be there.

They also think you can just go out and pluck coaches from anywhere

Via Tasanet Snook AD/AFC is open. Made playoffs in 21. then down hill from there 1 win last season. Anyone know anything about this one?

Be prepared to live in Snook.

I’ve never lived there, but the rumor is there are things in place community and school wise that will prevent a solid coach from going things going.

  6. See, there is this thing called liability insurance. There has to be some documentation somewhere that a good lawyer would love to get their hands on and nail a board member to the wall in a situation like this.

School boards and community members think they’re doing what’s best for the community and schools by over stepping their boundaries and creating a venomous work environment that affects kids the most.

Best of luck to Coach Droddy and the kids there.

This week to meet with board for the hire. Only one with AD/HC experience, and he has been 3 rounds deep as an AD/HC, and has won 70 plus games.  Looks like a no brainer!

And Fedora sounded like a no brainer to come back to Navasota.

Just a rumor, take it for what it's worth.

I've heard he has applied for every HFC job open in the area.

I guess he doesn't want to work under someone not his father......

Or, he's capitalizing on that RING......

Or, he doesn't want to be exposed next year without a D1 athlete to run the offense......

Man. You and I must be drinking coffee in the same areas.

Guys if Swaim has even been mentioned in Callisburg you have a fundraiser a bake sale or even a go fund me to raise what you need to get this bear of a man inside your school. Once he gets there there will be of course a hibernation period. But once this man comes to life you better watch out cause this man will rip through more defenses than the Cocaine Bear through campers. Swaim only comes to work to do 2 things. Win games and dip grizzly and he’s just put in his last pinch.

You know as well as I do Swaim’s expectation levels exceeds the average community.

I heard the issue is there’s not a front end loader big enough in that region of Texas to carry the cajones of the hairy legend.

Couldn’t reach a suitable salary for Coach Swaim!

I believe they interviewed a DC from a solid  program, a current HC, and a current coach on staff.

I’ve heard a decision has been made. Just waiting on school board meeting to announce.

Current guy on staff…I wonder if it’s the same one that’s taken 4 different jobs at one time or another and ironically the AD either resigned, was reassigned, or even retired within his first year at said places…

In any event good luck to the new hire. I’ve always thought Callisburg is a good place to be with a lot of great people.

  11. I know it’s been open for a while. Been under the radar. Anyone have updates?

The last I heard was they’re trying to get the money right for Daniel Swaim. Since he called the final drive for the Chiefs last night I’ve heard his rate has quadrupled.

  12. May the realignment gods smile on you tomorrow morning.

    Things I can’t wait for:

Where Daniel Swaim finally decides to land.

corrigancamden09’s stunning outlook of what CC football will be in their district

Pitt fans may actually have something to celebrate

How many teams in the region will push Gunter out Carthage

What I’m not looking forward to seeing:

The sale of alcohol sales going up to cope

Administrations not extending people based off new alignments

How Pitt fans will over react to their alignment

The sobs and wailings of those missing out on Daniel Swaim

I know this is a silly post but I wish the best of luck to you. Unfortunately there will be some schools that won’t see things for what they are and they move on from coaches and their families who are rooted into communities.

He is stepping down which we all know means Daniel Swaim is stepping up. Stepping up into his big old truck driving a pig down to South East Texas and bringing his winning ways with him. Heard he also has some read carhart cover all that are great to wear for half a game. Or if you are going to weald something on the sideline.

Swaim wouldn't touch this one.  The head football isn't the AD.
