  1. I heard this weekend announcement could be tonight. Also heard it was down to a current Bulldog and a current Hawk. Not confirmed.
  2. Kilgore Independent School District is excited to announce that long-time Head Football Coach/Athletic Director Mike Wood will soon transition into the full-time position of KISD Director of Athletics and Athletic Facilities. “Coach Wood has been an integral part of our Bulldog Football program’s traditions and high levels of excellence for over 25 years. As our Head Football Coach/AD for the last 11 seasons, he has successfully continued our programs’ rich traditions. He has also helped create an environment grounded in integrity, character, and high expectations. His leadership is both proven and appreciated, and I am excited about the many attributes Coach Wood will bring to this new Director of Athletics position," said Dr. Andy Baker, Kilgore ISD Superintendent. One of the first responsibilities Coach Wood will have as the new KISD Director of Athletics will be to coordinate the search for Kilgore High School’s new Head Football Coach. The position will soon be posted to the District’s website and to several Texas High School Coaching webpages with hopes that the new Head Football Coach will be named by the end of this school year.
  3. Kilgore News reports coach wood will transition to Athletic Director and Athletic Facilities.
  4. Heard this morning down to final three, all with ties to WR. Possible announcement next week after school board meeting.
  5. The obvious choice of course is the Houston area; but also heard possibly College Station. Surely the game will be on Saturday. Gonna make for a long pre-district road trip.
  6. Hey Aggie98, heard Kilgore was in negotiations with a school from Deep South Texas for their final game. Have you heard anything?
  7. H-J is just west if Beaumont. Actually made playoffs last season and believe got beat by Fairfield in 2nd or 3rd round.
  8. Not sure whether I'll help the issue or add more fuel the the fire, but after talking with a couple of Kilgore coaches and players and also a few friends from Carthage, the actions of one player is getting way too much emphasis. The fact that the Carthage team as a whole came to the Kilgore side if the field and taunted the Kilgore team lined up down the sideline, and no Carthage coach stepped in seems to have been the bigger issue. Again, I'm not taking either side, I'm a big Kilgore and Carthage fan, having been to all four Carthage championship games sand several playoff games. This was a behavior I have never seen them demonstrate, and seems to be what dissappontef the people from Carthage and Kilgore. I even commented to the people I was with that was very uncharacteristic of a Surrat coached team.
  9. Have a hard time understanding why they would reinstate a player suspended for this long without going through proper procedures, especially with the scrutiny the program has already faced recently? "Foolish" or "Bullitproof"?
  10. I hear Benny will be back; but guess we'll see friday night. Also heard he may be playing more defense and less offense.
  11. Kilgore playing without it's starting QB. At least a 2 week suspension.
  12. Still raining in Kilgore, hard at times. Hearing of a couple of roads closed, but not confirmed.
  13. Flooding has become an issue. Reports of several road closings.
  14. Babes Chicken is outstanding for home style cooking. Papasitos for upscale Mexican. Mercado Juarez for good tex-mex. Two locations is Arlington.
  15. He actually dropped the ball, no hands.
  16. Brown is a heck of a player, not saying he was shut down at all, he did gain 93 yards on 27 carries.
  17. What a game. Everything you'd expect from Kilgore/Henderson. Brown is an outstanding player, by far the best in the district. Henderson very easily could have won this game.
  18. Forgot to mention the fumble the officials missed. Forgot to mention the fumble the officials missed.
  19. The key to a Kilgore victory will be their defense. While the talk about Kilgore not playing any quaity teams, the fact is that the Kilgore defense has made most teams look like JV's as some of the Henderson faithful claim. As alway, should be a classic Kilgore/Henderson game. If the Kilgore defense forces turnovers and shortens the field for their offense, then I forsee a Kilgore victory. If the Kilgore offense must substain long drives, that's not a quality I have seen much of this season from the Kilgore offense. Seems the more they have to handle the football, the more likely the chance of a fumble. One thing for cetain, Kilgore won't be put in in the position of having to play their 4th string running back for over 3/4 of the game as was the case last year. I agree a win is a win, but the Kilgore running back was all of 5'4" and 130# and on a couple occasions during the game he was tackled by the wind. All in all, it is great to play a game aginst Henderson that has meaning. The key to a Kilgore victory will be their defense.
