  1. Elkhart, CH & Garrison come out of this district - in that order. The Elks and CH will battle it out again and it could go either way, but I'm going with Elkhart. Regardless, all 3 teams will do well in the playoffs.
  2. The Elks have to replace the entire outfield. Hopefully they can find some success in doing that. Reeves did go to Howard College and was on the team. I understand he chose to leave due to personal reasons. Reeves was a very good player. Sure hate he's not playing anywhere. Should be another good season for the elks
  3. Mays and the rest of the coaching staff will have a long road ahead of them. After seeing the JV and Jr High squads play this season it looks like ww will be hurting for the next several years. I'm not saying they won't win a few but I don't see a winning season in their future.
  4. Elkhart JV - 6 Crockett JV - 6 Game called in the 4th due to weather
  5. Cayuga has another D1 prospect? Haven't heard mention of him.
  6. That stinks for WW. We all know Nick Hicks was one of their better players. I believe the Anthony kid was the move-in they were excited about. Prayers for the community and the parents. But just as important continued prayers for the store employee that was shot.
  7. Is Nick Hicks still playing? Also are you talking about Keke's little brother that is a freshman? Never said yall were - Just glad it is a road trip for ya'll and not us. O-line will be there. Both teams running a base and no game planning - it is what is a scrimmage. We dont have 2 quality back - we have 3 IMO - you are forgetting our fullback Nick Hicks. We also have KeKe's little brother and Trey Jenkins waiting in the wings. I agree with your assesment of the district though. It will be fun to keep up with week to week. i do think Franklin will be in the hunt - they are every year. Westwood is a lot like Teague - If you go back past three years under Anderson Westwood was solid. When he left the schoolboard made a mistake in his replacment - IMO - Mays who was an assistant under Anderson and the Price took over mid season. This was our 0-10 Season. Mays did not change anything that year. All Price. Last year is when he installed his packages. Kids looked go but could not hang onto the ball. This will be Mays 2nd full season but with his familarity with the kids and progrm he really has a leg up. I have never posted on here that I thought this district would be easy, In fact I really think this district will be harder than than the one we just left. I have repeatly said we are better than 4th or 5th in this district. where most people are picking us.. You are also right about the last 6 time Westwood played Teague but since you are looking at Historical records you may want to look further back. Not that it matters this year
  8. Thing is he won't be going up against many kids his age. Big difference in a freshman and senior. Physically and mentally. There are some seniors that turn 19 during the season. And the roster may say he's 220 but the scales wouldn't. He's grown but that's stretching it a little. Good kid so I hope he has a good season.
  9. Word is Smith and Cheatham will not be playing football. Figure Bridges will play and haven't heard anything on White. Guess we will find out in 10 days.
  10. Crockett and Teague will both beat Westwood and a couple of the other teams will make a game of it. KeKe may be talented but he can't get it done alone. I'm not saying WW doesn't have good players but I don't think they will be strong enough to get better than 3rd. Dropping to 2A doesn't help WW alot bc of the district they are in. There are a handful of other districts that they may have dominated but not this one. If they can't pull out a 3rd place victory then they may not make it to the playoffs in anything. Basketball is a ? and baseball isn't even a discussion. May be a long year for them. Of course, all of this is just opinion!
  11. Who is Crockett losing and where is he going?
  12. I may be over optimistic but we'll see. No disrespect to CH intended. Everyone knows they can play. I think regardless if it goes 2 or 3 the games will be close. Both teams are great ball clubs.
  13. Gonna be a good series. I believe Elkhart comes away with this one. They may not have the experience CH does in this series but they are coached well and will be prepared. I'm actually gonna go with Elkhart in 2. Good luck to both teams. Praying for good sportsmanship and an injury free game. Either team will represent the region well.
  14. Palestine Herald Press is reporting that John Adair stepped down as AD but will remain the head baseball coach.
  15. Elkhart wins this one in the first 2 games. Crockett is a well rounded team and does have a good #1 pitcher but I think Elkhart will be too much for them. Good luck to both teams.
  16. Game 1 has been moved to tonight at 7:30 in Huntington due to pending rain tomorrow. The rest of the series is TBD.
  17. Where did Tunstall go?
  18. Elkhart vs Hughes Springs - If they both get that far then it's gonna be a good one. Don't know alot about HS but understand they are pretty good. Elkhart is looking good also. Pitching depth shouldn't be a problem for them. Don't under estimate their #2 and #3 guys. Gonna be an exciting playoff series for region 3
  19. I know the Westwood folks were happy to be 2A but that district is tough!! Hope they come out as well as they think they will in football and basketball. They don't seem to focus on baseball as much as the other two sports but they will have their hands full in that sport also. I do wish them good luck though.
  20. Faster doesn't always make you better. Anyway, I'm in over my head. Haven't seen brookhill kids play this year. Just wanted to give credit to a hard working kid and thought his name should be thrown in the mix. Good kid, good ballplayer. Hope he lands somewhere at the next level.
  21. You're right - IMO - he's probably better. Of course this is a forum based on opinions - that's mine. That's not saying Brookhill doesnt have good ballplayers but Reeves is that good. I've seen some of the brookhill players play after they left brookhill and they were good but not any better than Reeves. There are alot of good ones out there. I just thought Reeves name deserves to be in the mix.
  22. Gotta toss in Reeves from Elkhart. Doing good on the mound and at the plate. Could probably play anywhere on the field. I am also gonna throw out there that he could play for most teams at any level. Great ballplayer. Hope he has plans to play at the next level. Somebody would be getting a good one!
