  1. Cayuga is an above average 1A team, but because they beat Centerville who then beat Elkhart doesn't mean anything. Like you said, bad days happen to all teams. Cayuga, Centerville and Elkhart are all strong teams who will make a good run in the playoffs.
  2. Just curious as to how many of those homeruns were hit with the "now illegal" Cat 5? I was told Bo's homerun against Centerville was with that bat, but who knows. I know presonally - that bat was HOT!
  3. It's hard to believe Cayuga will pitch a no-hitter through district. But if that did happen I'm not sure if that would be a testament as to how good Cayuga is or how weak the district is. Playing in a weak district can't possible help Cayuga get ready for post-season. Glad to hear their predistrict schedule is more difficult this year. IMO - they would have been state contenders the past few years if they had more competition early in the season. May be the thing that really helps them this year.
  4. I just read that Palestine Westwood turned in 448.5. They have never been 2A until now. Maybe that will help them compete in football but they will see Crockett so who knows.
  5. Cayuga will make it through the District with ease then make it a couple of rounds. They do have some good talent but also lost some critical seniors. IMO if they couldn't make it all the way with last year's group then they will probably not go any further this year. There is no shame in going a few rounds. They are a good ball club but I don't think they have the depth to go to State. Good luck to them and Coach Branch!
  6. Elkhart should win the district. Troup did lose a key player to graduation but should still grab that 2nd place spot and will give Elkhart a very good game. 3rd will most likely be Arp. I think WR got hit big by graduation. I know they lost 2 key players. I look for Elkhart to make a good run in the playoffs bar a catastrophe like last year. Good luck to all the teams. Should be fun to watch.
  7. Apparently you haven't watched alot of 2A Baseball. There are some teams with outfielders that can complete with high school players form any level. 2A rightfielders = worst outfielder. This is where errors come from. I like the kids getting involved though, did they have some problems last year with this?
  8. Not to change the forum subject, but how did Westwood lose 20 kids in less than 2 months?
  9. Alot of good baseball teams out there. I agree with the ones already mentioned. Elkhart will be pretty tough and should be the favorites for District although Troup shouldn't be taken lightly. Centerville will be good as well and should win their district and if so will see different teams this time around. May get interesting. Ready to see what happens.
  10. I have a son going into the coaching field soon and I can assure you that Teague is not where I would want him right now. And you all need to think about airing out all this dirty laundry. You may or may not need a new AD and like me - if he reads these forums then he will probably run the other way. A great community can make or break a program. What's being put in these kids heads when they are at home can ruin everything a coach tries to do on the field and in the locker room. Even though I'm sure some of you will say "my comments are about how I respect and support him", most of what I've read is nonsense. Coaches, parents and kids read this site. I know the facilities are great but that's not all that matters. There is way too much talking about what should be done and who should be there and how administration needs to do something. It's crazy. I just wonder if ya'll were playing tonight if you all would think the progam needs a change?
  11. Good luck to both teams. Should be a good game. Proud of Bullard and the support they are getting from the community but I gotta pull for Robinson and Allison. No offense though - it's a personal thing! I know both teams will put up a good fight. Praying for an injury free game and for safe traveling.
  12. Seen both - Malakoff can't play with Crockett - IMO. Crockett has too much speed and size. Plus Malakoff seems to be struggling with some discipline issues on the field. Crockett by a couple of TDs.
  13. Was told the senior linebacker/running back - Reeves quit sometime after Grapeland. The soph running back has been injured alot since district. Not sure if he has played an entire game yet and one game both running backs were on the sidelines. I'm reading there are also some off-field issues going on. Schools that aren't deep will struggle when key players are hurt or quit. Was hoping the Elks could make a run for the playoffs. Maybe next year?
  14. Crockett 7th won by a couple of tds and the 8th grade was tied until the last few minutes in the 4th then Crockett scored again. Crockett got a safety due to a bad snap and a td due to a snap over Elkhart qb head. Elkhart 8th grade played really good just couldn't get it done in the end.
  15. I think we can conclude that Teague is fast. Noone should deny that one. However, the faster team doesn't always win. I really don't know who I think is going to win this match-up. Regardless of speed, you still have to play the game, hang on to the ball, don't give up yards on stupid penalties, overcome adversity and be coached well and many other factors that can determine the outcome of a game. Teague is a good football team but so is Malakoff. This game will not come down to speed.
  16. Like to pull for the underdog (elks) but Crockett will be too much for them
  17. I did hear that Elkhart JV will not have a team for the remainder of the season. Lost too many to grades. As far as the football program being headed in the right direction - I believe it still is. Elkhart had too many starters on the sidelines due to injuries Friday night. Not sure how that happens in the bye week but it did. They were also w/o their running back the second half due to cramps. However the team seems down mentally. They had big hopes for the season. Hope everyone can get healthy and they can at least make a run for it.
  18. Sounds like Westwood is always on the low end for 3A and will probably never get low enough to be 2A. Wonder if they have ever considered having an open enrollment? Could bring money into the school and still give the school the option on who to accept. Of course Cayuga has had open enrollment and now they may end up being a very small 2A. Not sure what their enrollment #s are but that's what the word is. They probably didn't take into account the # of kids that would move into the district combined with the open enrollment kids. I don't think 2A is where Cayuga wants to be.
  19. Elkhart should win this one. Good thing they got two weeks to recover from the pounding they got by Mildred. They should be rested and ready to start district.
  20. I think Malakoff wins this one in a close game. I'm not sold on Troup yet, but they could still make me change my mind. It's a wait and see game. Malakoff did loose alot to graduation but they still have a good QB and a few good receivers. I still think the 2nd and 3rd spots are up for grabs in this district. Everyone will be playing hard to fight for those spots. Anything can happen.
  21. Not sure Elkhart can pull this one out. I don't think it will be a blow out. Would love to see Elkhart come away with a W, but just not sure. Pulling for the Elks.
  22. Elkhart has some areas that need to improve before district let alone playoffs. I think bc of the strength in the district the Elks passing game needs to improve. Even with 3 or 4 boys running the ball the offense is pretty predictable. Centerville did a good job scouting Elkhart and it showed. Gott mix it up. With that being said, Elkhart is a much improved team and most definitely has a chance to earn a playoff spot. Going to be tough. I still think Crockett is the leader then it's anybody's game. I think Coach Adair will work out all the hiccups and they will be ready for district. As far as how many rounds, who knows? Good luck to the Elks.
