  1. In a great game, the Palestine Wildcats go on a game winning drive with 2 minutes left, and finish it off with a 7 yard touchdown pass to Nicco Bannard.
  2. Palestine fish won 38-0 Palestine JV won 36-7
  3. From what I have heard around town, The original starter #8 will not be back with the team.....he has had some discipline issues in the past, and it looks like he is still having the same issues. The back up Anthony Baker from what I have heard could be back by this Friday night for Mabank. I think Palestine will figure something out, but it may be a few weeks before they get back on the right track. I do expect them to play well and beat Mabank, but do not expect them to compete well with Athens, and will most likely be 2-3 going into district.
  4. Apparently Palestine Starting quaterback caleb cargill has found himself ina mess again and is out for the year for personal reasons. The back up tonight was injured in the second quater. PAlestine did not appear to get off of the bus. Not the team we have seen the past two weeks. I know this is never the best way to judge, but after we beat brownsboro 54-0 and Van beat them 60-14 or whatever it was, it was hard ot believe I was watching a Van blowout. Good job by Van, very good team.
  5. Palestine Fish win 32-30 Palestine JV win 33-16
  6. The o-line of Palestine has been pretty good, will be interesting to see if they can block the Van defense.
  7. To me it has a lot to do with the fact that in high school you usually put your best athletes and playmakers on offense, and the kids who hit hard and are tough play on D. There are some good teams out there with tough hard nosed kids that can stop the run, but when you spread them out with a good qb they can not cover all areas of the field. It is a bit upsetting to watch the game of football look more and more like a game of 7 on 7 but that is what it has evolved into.
  8. Should be a good one, both teams rolled over Brownsboro......Palestine fell just short of beating pittsburg after going down 27-7. Van will get there first test of the season.
  9. If Palestine can improve a little every week, they could be a real threat later on. The winner of this game should feel pretty good about there team, loser will have to wait and see as the year goes.
  10. I know nothing about Pitt. I will say this.......Palestine is miles ahead of where they were this time last year. The offense is fast pace and has a great running game. The Defense has speed and lots of hard hitting. I like our chances at home.
  11. I was very impressed tonight. Defense was lights out in this game, Brownsboro never really found a rythm on O. Running game was very good, we have some dangerous backs. Can't wait til we play Pittsburg next Friday in the home opener, should be a good one.
  12. We played both in a Scrimmage, I feel like Rusk is the better team, but Center will be good and will have a good shot.
  13. Surprised no one from brownsboro has chimed in yet, I know last year they had some folks on the board.
  14. Westwood should be better, but not nearly enough to compete with Chapel Hill. Keke will be good for 14, that is probably all though. 49-14 chapel hill.
  15. I think that was one thing I saw from Palestine was that during the set play portions of the game they were off of a script or were using a lot of plays we haven't seen. When in the live parts of the scrimmages, they played more towards there base offense. Regardless scrimmages do not matter. This one does. Brownsboro usually is athletic and will have a good team. I do know they went through a coaching change, so we will see if that plays a role. Home field advantage will be big, and I am sure there will be some nervous young players out on the field.
  16. Palestine beat rusk 10-7 during the live 20 minute running clock session. Both teams scored once during the set plays. Palestine had trouble catching passes, besides that it was a pretty good job by all. I am very interested to see who starts at QB, both look pretty good. Who was brownsboro's latest scrimmage, how are they looking?
  17. Someone's son plays for the MP freshmen oline, or dimmtim may even acctually be one of them lol.
  18. Obviously we know who I will be voting for :)
  19. For Palestine our toughest preseason game will be Athens. I am sure that pittsburg and van will probably tough games as well.
  20. From what I have seen most coaches are calling plays off a script during the scrimmages. Wehn the team plays the live quarter or live half or whatever live part of the scrimmage they play, that is when they are making calls that they would typically make. Also most teams are running 50-60 % of their offense if not less.

  23. From what I saw he looked good at RB, very quick and pretty hard runner. I did not notice him that much on D, but to be honest it was hard to know who was who, with no names, and just numbered jerseys. There are 4 or 5 running backs who got carries, and they all looked pretty good, a junior named Stephens started and looked good. The o-line was opening a few holes. Was talking with someone at the scrimmage who said a bigger back we had is a sophmore. He is 6'3 and about 210 pounds and looks like he will be very good too.
  24. Palestine 21-0 in the live half over Center There were no scores during the set plays, but Palestine got the better of Center.
  25. Palestine during the live periods scored 3 touchdowns. One score was an interception return, one was about a 15 yard touchdown pass, and the other was about an 8 or 9 yard run. Neither team was able to score during the set scrimmage plays. Palestine drove the ball well all during the scrimmage, never had any problems moving the ball until they got down around the 20 and got stopped a few times. That ice was broken though in the live portion. The defense looked much better than last years, creating turnovers, even scoring on an interception. Was real impressed with the defense improvement. Offense looked good for the most part, and it is looking like an exciting bounce back year.
