  1. NB is a big play team. Quinn Dedmon who was one who provided about 3 or 4 of those a night has been out since Mt. Vernon. I think a lot of what is happening is with the injuries that have occurred, kids who were going to start on one side, and play just a little on the other are now having to go both ways. Depth is almost non existent right now, and it is having some effects on the field. Lets remember this NB team lost a lot from last years 13-2 squad. This years team will make a run, and have played really well at times, but I think last years team had a little more talent and depth then this years.
  2. I just noticed TQ Dedmon didn't play hardly at all in the 2nd half.....Brandon Clemons looked to be hurt as he was out all of the 4th.
  3. NB is playing some sophmores in several spots and at times it shows. They are talented but still raw.....injuries are starting pile up.
  4. New Boston will be down to the 4th string running back for this one. Hopefully the O-line can pick up the slack.
  5. Before the game I had a chance to talk with someone close to Spencer, and he has turf toe. From what they told me he would be back for Winnsboro or Dfield. I guess we will have to wait and see. I also heard Quinn Dedmon would probably be back for round 1 of the playoffs, but probably not at 100%. I personally thought the Defense played pretty well, they busted a few times on the qb keeping the "veer" play. Old school football from RW is hard to prepare for.
  6. Chop blocks are legal I believe.....as long as you don't get em in the back of the legs.
  7. Itasca continued to throw the ball in the second half nearly every play, a couple of the touchdowns were interceptions returned.
  8. I look for NB to spread it out the next few years. The Soph QB can run and throw....they have some good young wr's that can be a threat. They will not have the typical I back to pound it 25 times, but they will have a few backs who can run out of the spread. I look for that to be the way NB helps out the graduation of a lot of O-line and the better RB's
  9. Hopefully NB now realizes you can not just coast to a victory in district, not that we were ever really threatened by MV it just got really sloppy. NB needs to come out and keep the foot on the gas the whole game. If they do that..... NB 42 RW 14
  10. The center just couldn't block #10 for MV all night. The line is young and will have its ups and downs, they still played well just couldn't block #10. Thought the qb play d great and Gladney looked on top of his game. Defense played well for the most part.
  11. I think if you compare the team to last years......at this point they are a bit behind them. That said, there is no reason to believe this team can't make a run similar to last years team. You have to catch a few breaks along the way to make it deep. One thing I believe has stuck out in my mind.....the penalties/turnovers/bonehead plays that were seen vs. Atlanta have disappeared. Not saying we would of beaten Atlanta, but that game would of been much closer about week 3 or 4. The offensive and defensive line lost the most from this past year, and those two groups have been getting better every week. The QB is young but has the arm and athleticism to make the plays needed. I think the biggest thing now is to see if they can consistently improve all the way through district. If they can continue to improve, I think we can play in December.
  12. I always thought that was something that held both those schools back, the fact both can easily transfer to the other.
  13. Paul Pewit is going through a real tough time. Lots of injuries. I thing Dfield will be fine, they will probably be 4-5 heading into a district championship game with New Boston. Carthage being as down as they are surprises me. Palestine being 0-5. Kaufman 1-4. Both typically solid playoff teams. Pittsburg I thought would be improved, but look worse then last year.
  14. It is a dang shame how many student's these days have no religious beliefs at all. Or if they do they just tell you there is a god and nothing else.
  15. NB JV is 1-3....they lost to Pitt and Atlanta 28-7. Lost to PG 20-18 and beat Paul Pewitt 24-22
  16. NB 42 Dekalb 7 I think it will start out competitive. NB will overpower Dekalb in the 2nd half. NB 42 Dekalb 7 I think it will start out competitive. NB will overpower Dekalb in the 2nd half.
  17. Atlanta has some pretty good classes coming up as well.
  18. New Boston will win this one, by how much? Who knows? NB has to start finishing drives, too many times this season they have chewed up 30 or 40 yards on a drive, gotten inside the opponents side of the field, and then found a way to lose momentum. The defense will be fine, they are switching a lot of people around, and still trying to find the best fits for the D they can, considering that is the side that got hit the most by graduation. The O-line has played well at times, but the loss of Will Teague(graduation) at Center has hurt, as the middle is where they have had issues. The two tackles have played very well. New Boston is still finding themselves after a big graduation from last year. This team will now have a few weeks hopefully to iron some things out before getting started in district.
  19. I may get proven wrong, but I have a feeling Pitt will put forth as much effort in this one as they can. A wounded animal can be the most dangerous. New Boston played well at times last week, but did not put together the final knockout blow, and allowed a team they were 20 points better than to get back in the game late. 17-0 lead at half, end up winning 17-14 with at least two missed touchdown opportunities. Can't have that happen week to week, eventually someone will make you pay.
  20. NB should of won by 3 or 4 touchdowns, so many missed chances to put the game away
  21. I think what happened to NB was pretty simple. They missed a few golden chances to score in the first half. They turned the ball over twice early, and once to start the 3rd quarter. 3 turnovers for NB to 0 for ATL They could not keep up with the fast pace tempo with the limited depth and amount of two way starters they have. NB will respond, they have a good group of seniors and a good coaching staff. They had some success pounding the ball, and with PG not being as fast as Atlanta was I think the whole rushing game will be on display. I think the young QB will be fine, but they need to keep the ball on the ground and get some points on the board early Friday. Defensively they just need to control the line of scrimmage better, and limit the missed tackles. I think if they improve on those things and keep from turning the ball over they will be successful Friday night.
