  1. Atlanta must not have many posters awake this early in the year haha. I know from what I have read that Atlanta has a great QB and RB combo that will be running the option a lot. Hear they are pretty senior heavy and had a good run last year. They will be ready to play, and so will New Boston. I worry about NB and the lack of depth they have. Not much quality behind the starters, as usual with this seize school. Atlanta probably has them beat there, and beat a little on overall team speed. I still like the lions chances.
  2. Back to the original topic.... what is the key to this one? How well does Atlanta usually start the year?
  3. NB played much better. O-line looked improved with Skelton and Lee back. Sissons the qb played well as well. Defense struggled at times, but started to pull together in the live portion. Some of the backs, not sure which ones, made some great runs! 2-1 during the controlled NB 20-6 during the live half NB
  4. Love how excited people are over a scrimmage. New Boston beat Gilmer 14-0 in the 2009 scrimmage.....all Gilmer did was go on to win state. It's a scrimmage.
  5. NB will be fine, I remember not too long ago we beat Gilmer in a scrimmage....those practice games are exactly that, practice. Skelton and Lee will both be ready for Atlanta, not sure if they will play vs. HS, just know they got held out only as a precaution. I wonder how Dfield and Jefferson turned out?
  6. Waskom is hard to prepare for when u have a full week and a lot of film......I don't think New Boston took the scrimmage to serious. No doubt waskom was the better team tonight. Never seen a team win state in a scrimmage....
  7. I think the biggest issue was Hunter Lee and Cameron Skelton not playing. That is two returning senior olineman not being on the field. I think both sides of the ball got beat up front, waskom looked in great condition.... New Boston a bit sluggish. NB played real well during the controlled part of the scrimmage, then once those young players got out there alone they got exposed.
  8. This should be a fun one. I have heard around practice New Boston has been focused strictly on Atlanta and working nothing but spread during two a days. Will be interesting to see how they do against the power option game of Waskom. NB has been having a good camp so far and I am looking forward to what the Lions can do.
  9. New Boston will win this district. They have DF at home....will find a way to win it. The key will be how both teams play in the playoffs, and hopefully we can both make it back to each other in round 4. I think the state champion will come out of this district. I think Wall lost too many key players including the qb, and I think yoe lost the entire OL.
  10. I have heard that if Draggoo would just come up to the field house and make things right, they would let him work his way back into the program. Just think the kid had some issues last year and just wanted out of the situation. There are a few new coaches, so maybe he would feel better with a fresh start. Idk if anyone on here knows him but I hope someone tells him that if he wants to come back, be a man and go make some apologies and get back with it. As far as the Waskom scrimmage goes....I am looking forward to it...but.... Waskom is under center and runs a lot of option....we probably won't practice against that stuff at all considering Atlanta will be spread the whole time. Atlanta is what I am looking forward too....you go on the road and find a way to beat those guys....better buy you a few coats and get ready for December again :)
  11. I wonder if things got figured out the past few weeks, or if nothing has changed?
  12. I think the key for New Boston will be how do they replace those they lost on defense, and how well can they keep rolling on Offense. The offense lost 2-3 key players.....but I am willing to bet the offense is even better then last years. For one reason, we are returning every RB plus Gladney at WR/RB/QB, returning a few lineman and Hunter Lee 6'5 280 and Brandon Clements 6'2 290 are both coming back after missing the whole year last year due to injury. I believe the Offense will be one of if not the best in 3a division 1. The key for New Boston to win the whole thing is can they replace the leaders on defense they lost. I believe they are bringing back 5 on defense, but there are holes to fill on that side for sure. Will find out fairly quick with Atlanta bringing a good qb and offense to the first game of the year.
  13. New Boston and Daingerfield I believe will go to battle for region 2 again. I will also agree Malakoff is very good, and could make a deep deep run. IF I threw together a top 10 this is what it be.... 1. Wall 2. Halletsville 3. New Boston 4. Cameron Yoe 5. Daingerfield 6. Glen Rose - I like them a lot bumping down and returning a good bit. 7. Malakoff 8. Troy 9. Whitesboro 10. Teague - Interested to see if the talent they have translates to a deep run.
  14. This is just my opinion as a homer so take it for what its worth. New Boston is built to shove the ball down people's throat. That is what the whole offense is based off of. I do believe last year they passed a bit more, and they opened things up a little more. At the end of the day though, New Boston wins or losses based on the Running Backs, Offensive Line, and holding on to the dang ball! OF all the things they need to improve on the most, they did tend to turn the ball over last year. I think if they keep turnovers down, the running backs are basically the exact same 3 we had this past year. That leads me to believe a 3rd/4th round year is incoming....and maybe even bigger things. Good thing is....will know pretty quick.
  15. I think the Palestine vs. Henderson game will be huge for both programs.
  16. Does someone have their full schedule?
  17. Did Kaufman graduate the house? I had them picked to win the district with Athens a close 2nd.
  18. Is Lance Gamble still on staff as the OC? Maybe he could lead Beckville.....good blood line.
  19. Think of an Old Canton HC that is no longer there. And the one that would create the buzz is just 30 miles away.
  20. Also a guy just up the road who is a hometown boy, if he does come there will be a lot of buzzzzzz ;)
  21. Heard through the rumor mill......another Canton Eagle might be coming to Palestine.
  22. I am not so sure how good the job is from the outside looking in. Just graduated a very good senior class, they will be real young next year. JV went 1-9 and the freshmen went 6-3. District of doom for two years, and probably won't change much after that. Justin Marcellus was the OC and he has already left. I have no idea who the DC is. I get all my info from some of the middle school coaches I attend church with.
  23. What I have noticed about Jacksonville is they have lost the Offensive and Defensive lineman they had of the past. In the early 2000s and 90s they had the athletes....but they had some big lineman. One year they had Jamie Hightower and Quinton Harmon.....both were like 6'5 310 and went to A&M. Think that was 98 or 99......point being the skill kids at Jacksonville have been good enough most years to win some games. However the boys up front on both side have gotten beat up on.
