  1. Elkhart played smaller weaker teams before thewdistrict play begin. In the last four games, Elkhart has been oustscored 209 points to 30. How do you argue that? The baseball coach is basically coaching the same offense and defense. The rsults are looking at you on the diamonds.
  2. Rusk has a problem. THEY play 2 QB's. and one I think it isa #7 is much better. They were ahead 21 points in Palestine Westwood, changes QB's and got beat. But to be fair, Rusk has a hard time playing 4 qtrs. They seem to tire out. They have a quick team, some very fast players, but the QB decision definitely hurts them.
  3. The problem is the Elkhart ISD hired a Baseball coach to coach Football
  4. I think your right on a big win. Elkhart has decided to have a baseball coach the complitated game of football. What a mistake. Football brings in a great deal of money to the athletic programs, the better the season the more money the school district recieves. For an ISD to put a baseball coach in control of a football team is totally crazy. All the baseball coaches that I have been around love only baseball. Sometimes it looks like a boring season for a football team but looking foreward to get the baseball season going. Elkhart has hurt their football program by putting a baseball coach at the helm of the football program.
  5. why does RUSK alternate QB's. The #7 is clearly the best QB. He makes good decisions on the field, smart, #7 played Westwood and the score was 21 points ahead. replaced his with #8 and lost the game. Rusk has a very speedy backfield, will do great next year, but #7 is clearly the QB, what are the coaches thinking?
  6. The Panthers showed alot of determination, discipline, and resolve last night. They played the best game of the season. The walk-on place kicker did his job that Coach Mays and the team needed for the win. The Field Goal right before the half was the breaker. The Panthers defensives line and offensive line controlled both sides of the ball. The week off will give the Panthers some much deserved rest and healing. Watch out District opponents, here comes the new energized Westwood Panthers. I
  7. Its not LUCK for the Panthers...They must be able to close a game for a win. I believe the front line both offense & defense can play with anyone. The problem is on the outsides and the secondary. If Westwood can control the tripple option of Rusk, they can win the game, if Rusk throws from the tripple option, Westwood will have problems. The Panthers are getting better with each passing week. I truly believe they will make the play-offs as the 3rd team, but they must learn to CLOSE a win. Let's CLOSE to win for Westwood.
  8. I have watched the Rusk team for 3 years. No doubt, Fairfield is the better of the two. The only thing Fairfield has to worry about is playing at Rusk, Tx. The Eagles are always tough at home. Rusk does not match on paper with Fairfield. Rusk does have some speed. I believe Rusk will be 0-4 after friday night, but don't underestimate the Eagles at home.
  9. I watched the Bullard Westwood game friday night. Bullard defiitely had the enthusiam on the field. Westwood seemed flat at times. The panthers were denied entry into the end zones a couple of times. I felt at halftime it was anyones game. The thing I noticed was the highly contagious attitude of having fun that the Bullard QB demostrated. He seemed like he could not wait until he could run the next play. Westwood was larger and could move people around, but they did not. I have watched all three Westwood games and this was their worst performance. Football is a game that is hard to play, get knocked down every play, hot, sweatty, bruising and just downright tough. It takes only a Klick mentally to be successful. Lets take a defensive back. Maybe he is close on every play, but not necessary in every play (like swarming). He ends up at the end of the tackle not at the beginning. Bullard threw several sucessful quick passes, seemed that the panthers were watching the development of the passing play, but not getting to the areas quickly to make the tackles. Maybe the klick is being afraid to tackle, but once it klicks, what an improvement the kids can make. Lets take a Offensive player. Maybe you are a pulling guard on a particular play. You pull, run to the general area, but do not block anyone. Whats the purpose. Maybe a QB, call the play, get under the center,(must wait for the snap to get into your hands), take the snap, roll out for a pass towards the end zone, and throw the football into the ground in front of the wide open receiver. When it Klicks, you would roll out, if in trouble, stretch it toward the sideline, get your feet right to throw, then throw the football for the completion and possibally for a TD. It just takes a KLICK mentally. The Panthers have played three very good games, should have won two of them. Now you guys are facing another tough opponent, All you need is a KLICK. All of the pre-district games developes your character for the District contests, here in the pre-district is where you win in District. The old saying,"not if you win or loose, but how you play the game". Of course it is much more fun to win. I'm not going to get into this picking winners, you know you are a winner, if you win or loose. good luck at home, I'll be there to watch some of you KLICK, then when you all KLICK, what out opponents.
  10. I have watched Westwood for over 30 years. Not many winning seasons in football. The one thing I have noticed over those years, the fans never lost support for hte Panthers. They can get beat 40 points and the fans are still just as proud of their team. The last few years, the Panthers have had somewhat of good seasons. The new coach change and the bringing in other qualified coaches, & Shane Jones as defensive coordinator has helped this team tremendously. In the Chapel Hill game, If you threw out the long TD passes, the Panthers held their ground pretty well. The Defensive front is not to shabby, the secondary hurts a bit. In the Frankston game, fumbles were the problem, the Panthers fumbled 3 times early in Frankston territory. Momentum shifted several times in the game with Westwood having the last splurge. The attitude has changed at Westwood, the kids are enjoying playing again. The coaches working really hard. They may surprise people. Again, the fans, the booster club and all those individuals involved are the source of Westwood's success. Barring injurys, I think they wil get better every friday night. May be competitive enough to claim part of the district rights to adavnce in the playoffs. We hope so. Bullard will be a test to see if this new team of Panthers will be able to tie two straight wins together in over 2 seasons.
