  6. Trips and Roll, please don't hide behind a name on here and bash people who you obviously do not know. This is Camp and 1-2 years experience, please. There is no baskstabbing or coniving going on here between nor was there ever any against Willie coming back. I was appointed interim AD by those in power and it will be until the new AD/HC is hired. Someone has to get things ready for that person to come in. It is not a position I campaigned for but it is somehting that had to be done. It would not be fair for the athletes or the person coming in to lead them, and our staff, for the paperwork to continue piling up until the new coach gets here. If you have a problem with what the administration or the board has done, the school number is 903-663-8000 and the board meets once a month and has opportunity for open forum at the beginning of each meeting. With your tenure on the board, Bama, you should know the procedure already. I have not, nor do I post on Smoaky regularly, as I don't like to hide behind screennames and I do not plan on starting now. As far as I am concerned, I won't start now but before people start running down people that they don't know, they should try to learn something about them.
  7. Going to be a close one but ND is hungry and will pull out a close win Friday night. Will say though that just because the kids in ND haven't won much the last couple of years, doesn't make them losers. As a matter of fact most mustangs will call them boss in a few years. I'd take academics over athletics any day.
  8. I have heard it was Roger Adams has the job sewn up and that the other interviews were nothing but a formality. I guess the athletes in Diana met his standard as heard from one of his collegues that he said he was going to check if the athletes in Diana were up to his standard before he wasted his time applying. Also hear that the other coaches in Diana may have to look for a job as the new coach may get to bring in who he wants. Could be interesting.
  9. I seem to be a little confused birdman because I can't seem to find what you are talking about. About the yelling. Sure all coaches have to get loud with their players but it is not the volume but what is said to them and about them that hurts. If you have to demoralize a child to "motivate" them, you are not a good coach, I don't care how many games you win. To me a good coach is someone who puts the kids first and wants what is best for the kids and sure they have to yell, to the kids but not at them. I promise you the coaching staff at New Diana puts the kids interests first and all you have to do is ask the athletes about that. Glad to see you have passion for the coaches. Worries me a little, but glad you have it. Main thing is that the coaches at New Diana deserve to know what is going on so they can move up or move on.
  10. Onceaneagle, maybe you should be opening a can of worms because if we go by screennames, then yours implies that you must be bird. Again people seem so defensive on here. I never once said that the kids did not admire or respect malone. I just said that they do respect the coach that they have now. Why you would think that it means they did not respect their former coach I do not know. Just because you respect one person does not mean your don't respect another. While on that subject though, I do not know how many kids respected or did not respect him though. I do know that many kids feared him and he allowed upper classmen to intimdate the underclassmen in the program and he did turn kids against the other programs New Diana offered. Not to mention the fact that I have friends with small children who wanted to go support the team but could not due to the language used both by the coach and the players. Enough about that though as this thread is about the situation in the New Diana coaching ranks. For the kids and coaches I hope they decide something quickly in order that the athletes will know something but more importantly so the coaches can make decisions regarding themselves and their families. I have a feeling there will be a massive turnover in both the coaching and teaching ranks there and that would be a shame to the athletes as well as the students as some great teachers will be lost also. Athletes and students in New Diana.......GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Hey, I wish each and all the very best. Never once have I wished anything bad for anyone. Willie, if you had been offered 4 jobs since leaving New Diana, why did you not take one of them and get the program to a good point where your son would get to play for a winning team at least for his senior year? Not saying Union Grove has a bad program by any means and would never disrespect Grove by saying so as I have known many quality people that have both gone to and worked for the district. But I would certainly have wanted my son playing in a program that had more of a chance of winning. As for the job in New Diana, I have heard from some people who were at the White Oak powerlifting meet this past weekend that said Terry Pirtle was telling people that he had personally talked with the supt. in New Diana and that the head coach/AD job was his. I didn't hear it myself as I was not there but talked to more than one adult that said that. Doesn't seem like New Diana would need another baseball coach though as they seem to have a great one now that the kids repect and admire. Even won a tournament last weekend in Linden. First tournament the baseball program has won in many years according to the kids. Keep up the good work coach.
  12. Wow, some people get so defensive on here. Also some people do not know what discipline is. Discipline is not screaming, yelling and cussing at the kids but it seems like some people in New Diana seem to think it is due to the coaches and the coaching styles they "idolize". I have heard many people talk about the program in New Diana not having discipline over the past few years and talking with many people it seems like this lack of discipline started when a certain coach was brought back behind peoples back by the powers that were so their, and their friends' kids, could play for the almighty one as some seem to think he is. The discipline seemed to go downhill from that point as athlete's were turned against the program from that time. So if you want to say the program could have had more discipline, yes it could, but too many people are looking at the wrong person to blame. I hear Willie this and Willie that and from what I have heard he was a good coach. Hard to believe that if he is the greatest coach around as some seem to portray that he has not been picked up by some school over the past however many years he has been gone from New Diana. And also, growing up in East Texas all my life I never once heard of Coach Hargett until many years after high school and right before he was let go in New Diana. If we only want to go by winning records and say that discipline makes that happen why not pay Dennis Alexander about a million dollars and try to get him to come to New Diana to coach your kids?
  13. I read in the paper a quote by the supt. saying he wanted to leave the application process open for 3 more weeks. I thought he may want to have a candidate to present to the board in the March meeting but there would be no way committee could get the qualified applicants interviewed, do a site visit, etc. by then. From what I have heard though, there shouldn't even be a process as the athletes there want it to be an internal move. We all know though that sometimes it is about what certain individuals (with certain powers) want for themselves or their buddies (with too much influence), when it should be ALL about the kids. Could be interesting how it all plays out though. Keep me posted.
  14. I don't know what the supt. and the board are up to but it seems like they have something up their sleeve with this one. I do know that McDaniel has built the program up tremendously since he has been at New Diana on both the boys and girls sides and with all sports. I have heard of a couple of names being thrown around but not sure if they will even be considered. Coach Perez is a stand up guy with lots of athletic knowledge and is a great candidate for the job. What the supt. and board have to realize first though is that even though he has been an assistant under Coach McDaniel for several years, he will have his own ideas about the program. I hear the kids really love and respect him also.
