  1. Tenaha's parking is odd...the only small school I've ever seen that charges for parking near the stadium...you can park for free across the railroad tracks. Overton's stadium is on a hill so if you don't get there early be prepared for an uphill hike.
  2. I'll be in Paris watching Pottsboro vs. Jefferson and following about 5 other games via my phone on Thursday and then in Crockett for Anderson vs. New Diana on Friday. I hope the weatherman has missed the predictions by a wide margin.
  3. Last night was Kam Williams's first fumble and he's a three year starter.
  4. Tatum still has a share of the district title even with the loss. With the upsets in the other district the first place draw is important.
  5. The tie breaker only counts in games between the teams in the tie, ME, Carlisle, and Cushing. The results/points are in another post somewhere on this forum...I saw it yesterday but can't find it today.
  6. It is a huge advantage to have an active jv that is more than tackling dummies for the varsity during practice. Playing time in games are a big part of developing successful varsity players.
  7. These 2 are fighting a physical defensive game tonight...THS up 14 to 7 with about 6 min. Left.
  8. In Conference 1A and 2A schools or in small junior high schools whose enrollment corresponds to Conference 1A and 2A enrollment, sixth graders may be used when their participation is vital to field one combined seventh and eighth grade baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball or volleyball team on the first day of the season. Sixth graders may not be used on either team when a school has more than one team playing. (Exception: Pilot program for the 2023-24 school year: 1A and 2A schools are allowed to use sixth graders to field as many as two (2) teams under this rule. Also, once a school qualifies to use sixth graders under this rule, it would qualify to use sixth graders for any activities that follow on the calendar.) The first day of the season is defined as the first day of practice outside the school day or the day of the first competition, whichever occurs sooner. If fewer than the below listed number of seventh and eighth grade students report the first day of the season, then sixth graders shall be notified the next day that they may try out for the combined seventh and eighth grade team and may participate for the entire season. If the number of seventh and eighth graders reporting the first day of the season meets or exceeds the number listed below, then sixth graders shall not be used anytime during the entire season. Baseball - 18 Basketball - 10 Football: 6-man - 12 Football: 11-man - 22 Soccer - 22 Softball - 18 Volleyball - 12
  9. Sixth graders can play MS football according to UIL rules if there are not sufficient numbers of 7th and 8th graders to field a team. I don't remember the magic number to trigger the rule.
  10. If the voters approve the stadium then that is their decision. They will need two stadiums in the near future if they hope to avoid hosting games Thursday through Saturday evening because if they get to 6 high schools they'll be having a bunch of games.
  11. 71-18...if WO found something it wasn't enough.
  12. The video is now on NFHS Network for all to see who want to see. It appears everything was calming down after just a few seconds until a player "clipped" an opponent, knocking the opponent into one of the home players which set off the big melee. Looks like that one event was the spark for the bigger issue.
  13. They may be in a couple of games in district.
  14. I think the football players need to shake their opponents hands and if the cheerleaders feel the need for post game closure they can shake the other teams' cheerleaders' pompoms or hands or whatever!
