  1. Surprised that Chilton agreed to play in Mart.....which is practically in Hubbard's backyard.
  2. Yep.....that Frost running game is difficult to stop because every defensive player has to cover their assignment and not free flow to the ball. Very popular offense around here (Valley Mills, Meridian, Wortham, Frost & Dawson), but not throughout the state. Hubbard defends it well nowadays....but not in the past. I think it gave Tenaha trouble last year and may this year as well. Tenaha's "ZOOM & BOOM" tandem will be without the ZOOM in the playoffs as I understand. A shame too....because that Carraway kid can flat out run.
  3. Frost wins it 42-27 Congratulations to a fine group of young men that I have had the pleasure watching our boys compete against over the years accomplish back to back playoff wins to make history! Frost began their football program in 1911. District 9 teams continue to show that we are no easy district. Link to the Corsicana Sun's article as Mike Phillips writes another one for the ages in the Golden Circle: http://www.corsicanadailysun.com/sports/x338555537/GC-Football-Frost-makes-history-with-42-27-win
  4. Frost lost a few playmakers from the team that came within a yard of beating Tenaha last year, but have all their lineman back and a couple playmakers. Overton defense must be disciplined and stick to their assignments as the Frost slot T thing can be deadly if you have players that do their own thing. Frost defense is not near as good as last year. When we played them (Hubbard Jaguars) this year I was surprised at how BIG they were. Hubbard just has their number...and they fooled around and lost to Meridian in a hard fought game. I expect the Polar Bears to show up big time as they have the opportunity to be the first Frost team to win a playoff game in consecutive years for the first time in school history. Frost 28 Overton 21
  5. LOGAN MCCLINTON RB/CB HUBBARD HUBBARD 58 RICE 6 RUSHED FOR 235 YARDS ON 12 CARRIES WITH 1 TD. RUNS OF 68 & 89 YARDS.
  6. Hubbard Jaguar Jr. DL Alex Williams #55 leg was completely dislocated at the knee. Similar injury to Dustin Keller's. His artery was OK which was the biggest concern of the EMT's. He came home yesterday and will have a MRI next week to determine the extent of injury. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!
  7. Looks like y'all are catching a major break.....Bosqueville is DECIMATED by injuries on the defensive side of the ball. Best player #7 (LB, top RB) has an MCL issue with a knee as well.
  8. Our Hubbard boys were out of sorts when they played Bosqueville in Week 1 since our All State RB Walker got knocked out in the 1st qtr. That said....the Bville QB can really throw a mile and is accurate. The wind was really bad against Mart for them and took the pass away...so not a good game to judge them on. They like to get ahead and then pound with these HUGE RB's (especially #7) in the second half. Very effective. #7 got hurt in the 1st half as well against Mart. Word is he will be OK for Round 2. Bville is big everywhere but needs good weather for everything to work. Defensively....I think speed can beat them as Mart showed.
  9. Points scored points against Frost 386 152 Detroit 303 132 Not surprising to see that both scored tons of points and gave up few against the weak opposition. As mentioned earlier...I am only giving Frost the edge because of the amount and quality of Seniors on the team and have seen them play. How about Detroit? Do they have alot of experience as well?
  10. I saw Wortham play Hubbard and Frost. They have more talent than record suggests. Wortham has had a RUN THE BALL & BURN THE CLOCK type offense in the past. I think they have a new coach that has implemented some spread formations. I think I only saw 1 actual running play to a RB in the Frost game. Both games got out of hand by multiple interceptions. IF Wortham runs the ball in their double wing thing......watch out. IF they pass.....Overton by 30. IMO
  11. Frost has a ton of Seniors this year. They are hungry to win and execute well. I think they would have been better served with a tougher schedule. They played Hubbard very tough and actually had the lead at half 15-12, but alot of players go both ways..(.whereas Hubbard has only a couple 2 way guys) and got gassed. Final was 44-27 and hard to gauge since Hubbard was without 2 best players (RB Walker and Middle LB Johnson) and the weak schedule. QB can throw well and they have a couple other RB's to compliment Daniel Steels. If Detroit has alot of 2 way guys as well......my guess is this Frost bunch will be tough to beat.
  12. Hubbard did win the district title last year beating both of thoughs teams but look at the Bremond game. Had about the same amount of sophmores starting including their QB's first ever start after the senior QB broke his hand in the second quarter. The sophmore threw 2 pick-6's in that game and if you take thoughs away Bremond wins. Hubbard probably under estimated Bremond last year since the Tigers came into the game 1-5, but grinded out a tough 27-14 win. Jacob White did an outstanding job at WR after breaking his hand. I think he was the one who burned the Jags secondary a couple times. The following weeks loss to Chilton 62-28 not indicative of the team with the change at QB as well. Hubbard beat them 28-26 a couple weeks later. Bremond will win big this week and I think DEFENSE will be the key in the Hubbard/Bremond matchup. I heard the game will be in Groesbeck.
