  1. I'm on vacation this week and have tickets for all three days. I plan on watching all the games.
  2. I will see you there next week bluetopper. Look forward to seeing Cisco win their first state championship.
  3. Thank you, Flukeshot. Far easier than the method I was thinking of. I noticed your links were in the 'News' section and there were over 280 pages in that section. Using the search box far, far easier and faster than going through all 280+ pages of the news section! Took a quick skim through some of the years. It was depressing to see how many first round losses HG had.
  4. Yes. I don't remember what year they dropped to 1A but I'd say it's been around five years. HG started to field some competitive teams a few years after I graduated. Cooper was the team to beat through my junior year. Then Grand Saline and Quitman dropped down from 3A my senior year. It made both schools top 10 2A. If I may ask, where did you go to high school?
  5. Thank you, Flukeshot. Okay, now for the stupid question. How were you able to find that data? After clicking the link, I was trying to find results for other years but didn't see how to do it.
  6. Flukeshot, Was it Detroit or Celeste? I remember now Celeste making a run in the playoffs. I think they beat 3 or 4 teams ranked in the top ten during their playoff run. I can't say I remember Detroit. It doesn't matter, I hope this year marks the beginning of new football powers in 2A. I just wish Honey Grove would do the same in 1A.
  7. I played against them when Honey Grove, Leonard, and Cooper were in the same district. Early to mid 80's. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the kids on the current teams are the kids of the guys I played against. It would be nice if a team from the area won state. This makes me wonder when the last time someone from our area made it this deep in the playoffs? Anyone recall? Last time I remember was when Paris won state.
  8. I did too. I was going to root for the winner of this game to win state. I thought it would be Cooper but was wrong. Here's hoping Leonard can bring back a state title. Congratulations to Leonard on the win and to Cooper on an excellent season.
  9. It looks like the winner will play Cisco. Announcers on the radio said Cisco was leading Canadian 28-7.
  10. May have to go watch this game since it is on my off day. I saw Cooper against Henrietta and was impressed. I've already bought a ticket for the Class 1A and 2A finals. Hopefully, I will see Cooper there. Good luck to the Bulldogs and safe travels to both teams and no injuries.
  11. Why can't the playoffs be postponed for a week? I assume with the state championships being all held at one site, rescheduling would be difficult if not impossible. But if the championships were all held at neutral sites, why couldn't you postpone this week's games until next week? UIL rules prevent such a thing? Does football season have to end before a certain date, i.e., Christmas?
  12. According to the Dallas News, Aledo's game has been rescheduled for Friday at 5pm. If they can't play Friday, then they will try to play Saturday in Springtown at Porcupine Stadium.
  13. I chose Carthage. My next pick would be Kilgore but they probably have the toughest remaining schedule of any of the teams listed. My personal interest is Cooper winning state. I would love to see Cooper vs. East Bernard for the title.
  14. I agree. My other pick would be DeSoto vs. Euless Trinity. If both teams win this week, I would love to see the semifinal between DeSoto and Allen.
  15. Congratulations Bulldogs! I was impressed after seeing Cooper's offensive line last week against Henrietta. Someone will have to match their size in order to beat them. Largest line I've ever seen for a 2A school and I thought the line Cooper had when I played against them in the 80's was huge. Don't think they would match this version.
  16. Hard to belive you can score 72 points in football, especially 11-man, and lose.
  17. I was thinking the same. I thought his forward progress had been stopped. Was surprised to look up and see the Henrietta defender running the other way.
  18. I was at the game. Stayed until early in the third quarter. Cooper probably had over 200 yards rushing in the first quarter. Henrietta couldn't match the size and strength of Cooper's offensive line. That was a complete mismatch in Cooper's favor. The only time Cooper was stopped in the first half was when Henrietta managed to strip the RB of the ball and return it to the Bulldog's four yard line. Other than that one stop, Cooper scored on every possession in the first half.
  19. Thanks Flukeshot and Bulldognation1. Looking forward to the game. Good luck to the Bulldogs.
  20. Thank you, Bulldognation1. I plan on being there this Friday. If you don't mind, I have a several more questions. Are tickets available at the gate? How much? Parking Fee? I can't help but smile at the irony. As a former player and graduate from HG, I never thought I'd find myself rooting for Cooper. :-) But so hoping you guys go deep in the playoffs. A state title would be awesome for our area!
