No disrespect to jett because he is a very classy poster here, but I think that what Winona is missing is discipline. Based on the games I've seen them play, they have the athleticism but they lack focus because they aren't disciplined. It's a shame to let their talent go down the drain for something that, with a little hard work and tough love, could be fixed.

Fans saw it, refs didn't. Those things are gonna happen when dealing with teenage kids, but kudos to the coach who addresses it instead of letting it go!

Exactly! Keeping him on the sideline 'in case they need him to bail them out' just adds fuel to the fire! That teaches him nothing! Set consequences that teach a boy who made a mistake (and the rest of his team) a lesson and stick with it through the pain. Gain lots of progress in the end! Seems to me like this coaching move was strictly to show that the coach was "handling" a situation that he really didn't intend to handle. No lessons learned here. But actually, yes there is - keep doing what you're doing and don't worry about winning with character. Sad, sad!

Sooo..... Back to the topic. Did the Celina QB play last night?

From a family member of a high school and collegiate level official, I can attest to this. This is not a job that anyone can do unless they truly have the passion for it (unlike many, many other jobs that people do half-heartedly). It involves MUCH more than those of us in the stands screaming like we know it all realize. Thank you for the time spent away from your family. A game would not be a game without an officiating crew!

Someone said depends on the coach. So sad, but so true! Why ALL grown men cannot "coach" morals and character to teenage boys is crazy to me! That doesn't mean that all kids make the right decision all the time, but if they don't (as in this case), there must be a punishment to get the point across.

Word on the streets is that the "official" announcement and introduction will be tonight. But it's a no-brainer! Same guy that's been talked about since - football season? What a coincidence! :-( Have I mentioned how badly I hate to see these school officials fall into the trap of small town politics?!?

I'm a Rains fan because they are in my local area, and as a fan of most all sports, it is natural to follow a local team. Therefore, I will continue to always wish those kids well. However, this "small town politics" decision does, without a doubt, leave me a bit numb to care how the story even ends. They will rebound, and I will support whoever is there, if for no other reason than for the sake of the kids. It is just so very disappointing to see this board join the crazy other school boards who 'think they know' more than what is practical when comparing the talent that is there to the talent of the others in their same classification. Kuddos to Coach Smith for doing a great job with what he had and for how he's seemingly handling all of the awkward end - speaks volumes of his character! There will be fun days ahead for him!

Great question indeed!!! It's a sad reality for coaches today, and I hate this decision for him and his family. On a much happier note, I know another school that will be HAPPY to benefit from his knowledge and expertise! Bring it!!!

It sure is fun to watch a game like last night! Two good teams going head to head. A-G was definitely intimidated going into the game. They were without a doubt outmatched in size, and it took them the first quarter to settle down and realize that they could stay on the court. Both teams played with class and left it all on the court! Not that either team was happy 100% of the time, but I always like to see a game be officiated consistently to where the referees are there to maintain order while the boys decide who wins the game. Last night's crew did that very well! As an A-G fan, I'd love to start that game over with our boys knowing that they could play with the Tigers. I think the outcome could be different. I'd love to have seen our boys get that W last night in honor of their friend Connor who passed on Monday. It wasn't meant to be, but they battled through broken hearts and gave it their all anyway! Our community is very proud of our Panthers! Congrats on your win, Daingerfield. Good luck to you guys this week! I will be pulling for you!

Were the folks at LK not pleased with Schultz?

Fun season for these ladies and their fans. Just as proud of them now as I was last night. These same ladies (all but one) went to the Regional Quarterfinal in VB, went straight to Basketball and made it to the Regional Tournament, and if the same holds true as the last couple of years for them, some of them will likely advance to the state level in track. Most of them also will be battling on the softball field and will likely advance to the playoffs there! You'd think they'd be needing a break somewhere along the way! They are an amazing group of girls who work tirelessly at representing their school, and their community is very proud of them! Thanks for the awesome ride, ladies!

Played with more teamwork last night than I have EVER seen with this bunch! They were up, and they looked outstanding. Great job, Coach!

The Lady Panthers continue to represent District 14-3A all the way to the Regional Tourney! Got a tough one coming up Friday! Should be fun! Go get'em, ladies!

May have come up short in the District match-up, but how about those A-G Panthers being the ONLY team in District 14-3A to get to claim the title of "Bi-District Champs"?!? Played with great teamwork tonight!!
