  1. Pearson's stepping down had nothing to with one player graduating. He stood up for his assistant and walked away only after putting up a valiant effort to keep his assistant. Pearson is one of the classist guys around. What he did in 3 years to turn around a joke of a program was outstanding. (I know because my son played for Pearson his junior and senior years. His freshmen and sophomore years on varsity you didn't know who had the keys to the asylum, the inmates or the guards) Pearson brought discipline and accountability. Plus he cared about those guys as much off the field as on. The foul crude language I witnessed first hand my son's freshman year was embarrassing...and that came from players and coaches. MP May not have been as talented as some teams but with Pearson at the helm he got a lot out of them. Those guys played hard for him and they played as a team and supported each other. I saw none of that my son's freshman year and a glimmer of that his sophomore year....Pearson was the right guy at the right time. I witnessed Pearson benching starters, not for their play, but their attitude. I couldn't have asked for a better coach to coach my son. I wish the new coach the very best.
  2. MP vs Wylue East in one game playoff. Where and when to be determined
  3. Thanks! Very impressed with Coach Driggers and his staff. They made an immediate impact on my son and that was one of the reasons he chose ETBU over another area school.
  4. Thank you "sportsstud" I'm with you. I don't see how anyone can call this watered down. This district was tough and it was fun watching the games. Every game was intense and close and the top four teams were pretty evenly matched....Pretty impressive stats....my bad on the district...I can't keep up with which district we're in. My son graduates and is off to ETBU to play ball but I'll be keeping a close on this district next year.
  5. Strongly disagree about everyone making 1st team now...These guys are all deserving and the coaches in the district must have thought so as well or they wouldn't have voted for them.
  6. Congrats to the Mt. Pleasant Varsity Baseball Team on their all district honors. First Team: Michael Kopech (pitcher); Ryan Kelly (pitcher); Riley Greenlee (catcher); Tehron Rogers (infield); Luke Hill (infield); Monty James (outfield) and Zach Ervin (utility) District New Comer: Jordan Raney Honorable Mention: Andrew Flanagan (outfield)
  7. MP lost to McKinney North 6-2 Game 2 Friday at 7 Copeland Field Poteet HS
  8. Bi-District: MP vs McKinney North Game 1: Thursday, May 2 @ 7 PM Copeland Field Mesquite Poteet HS Game 2: Friday, May 3 @ 7 PM Copeland Field Mesquite Poteet HS (If Necessary) Game 3: Saturday, May 4 @ 3 PM Copeland Field Mesquite Poteet HS
  9. The rematch between Hallsville and MP will be a great game. The last game was marked by good pitching and good defense. The only run was scored on a wild pitch. MP left 6 runners in scoring position. Hallsville stranded a few runners as well. MP threw their number 2 guy last time out and he pitched very well. concerning errors....they are part of the game...overcoming them is the key. At this stage of the season it's not the physical errors (booting a ground ball, etc.) that will kill you it's the mental errors (not hitting the cutoff man, throwing to the wrong base, missing a sign, etc.) Those mental errors are the ones that drive coaches nuts! This is a good district with good teams.
  10. This is a good district! with a few exceptions every game has been close. I think overall the teams are evenly matched. MP has pitched well and played good defense. The bats have off and on. If they can get the sticks going, they could make some noise in the playoffs.
  11. MP Baseball 15-9 overall (5-3 district) Remaining games are huge: Friday 4/19: MP @ Hallsville SS @ Pine Tree T High @ Marshall
  12. Think this is correct! With 2 games left: Pine Tree 6-2 MP 5-3 Sulphur Springs 5-3 Hallsville 5-3 Texas High 2-6 Marshall 1-7 T High and Marshall are eliminated Now its a race for seeding.....this gonna be great! District championship still up for grabs....anything can happen!
  13. MP beat Hallsville 1-0 Thursday night. Great game! Pitching and defense were outstanding for MP. This distinct race is turning into a dogfight! MP sits at 3-1 in district (13-7 overall) and travel to face Pine Tree April 5.
  14. MP beat Marshall 13-3 in 5 Friday night. Hallsville beat Pine Tree 4-1 and I heard SS beat T High 10-0 (Is this correct?)
  15. It is a tough district! Every team will need to bring the "A" game every night. This is gonna be fun.....
  16. Kopech went the distance. He was on his game last night. Off speed stuff was nasty.
  17. MP defeated Sulphur Springs 3-0 Tuesday night.
  18. The MP & SS game will be a great game. Both aces on the mound. This district race will be a dogfight....right down to the wire. I'd expect nothing less.
  19. Saturday afternoon MP beat Longview 4-3 in yet another come from behind win for the Tigers. Record is now 10-6. District begins Tuesday night in MP against a familiar foe...Sulphur Springs.
  20. Tuesday evening MP beat Whitehouse 7-6 in the bottom of the 7th with a dramatic come from behind win. MP hosts Longview Saturday at 1:30 PM. They open district next Tuesday against Sulphur Springs. MP are now 9-6 on the season.
  21. MP is 6-5 so far this season. Playing good defense and pitching has been pretty good. Bats are starting to come around. A couple of players are battling through a few nagging injuries. Trying to get them healthy for district. Yes, really! Kopech has been clocked at 92 (Perfect game Jr. National Showcase 2012 and Area Code games august 2012) He's the real deal....stay tuned! His command is getting better and better. Extremely fun to watch...
  22. Kopech pitched the 7th and got the save. Starting pitcher Grubbs (Jr) pitched 4 and Raney (Jr) tossed 2 and got the win. Both Paris runs were unearned.
  23. Mt Pleasant 3-2 over Paris in MP's home opener
