Considering as a sophomore he was just a few yards away from breaking the Carthage record for passing yards in a single season. He threw 44 touchdown passes. Yea I think so.

For Carthage it would absolutely be a test. But realistically what does Carthage offer Aledo? Honestly not a lot. Pound for pound yall are top tier. No doubt about that. But if Aledo was to play a team from East Texas, I would want them to play the best one. Longview.

Aledo has gotten to big with multiple athletes at each position. One goes down they can run one in as good as the one that went down.
Longview would be a much more even match. Go back a few years and my Dawgs could play with Aledo.
That is just the plain truth.
The 2024 Dawgs are going to be special and I can’t wait to see them. They could match up with any 5 A DII but the depth at 5A DI and above is to big of a difference.

I think is ashamed nobody in East Texas, 4A or 5A, will play Carthage.  Henderson. Jacksonville,  Pine Tree, Hallsville,  Marshall,  Whitehouse,  Nacogdoches, Palestine, and several others used to play Carthage every year.  Non-district game should be wide open, but those schools have changed.  Kilgore is playing. Chapel Hill I have read, is supposedly.  They originally said No.  Jasper said yes.  Why?

Carthage is big time loaded the next two years could have a lot to do with teams not wanting to play them. Kilgore and Chapel Hill have proven year in and year out they are 4A DI contenders and should be outstanding match ups for the Dawgs. I guarantee Gilmer would play the Dawgs in non district but I think everyone knows they will probably see each other in the playoffs.
I love the fact a 6 A team agreed to play the Dawgs.
I am super excited to see the 2024 Dawgs take the field.
    Let’s Go Dawgs !!!

He might try his hand at a big D1 program. I think he could get hired for big bucks.

I bet his son plays golf in college and not football.  You almost have to be big in stature to be a D1 pocket passer. 6 foot 2 and 220lb or better.

He will be a lot bigger this year. J Surratt is a very special player and will have many D1 offers after the 2024 season.
look at his stats as a sophomore, he only needed a few more yards to break the single season record at Carthage. Just wait until the 2024 Dawgs trot out on the field. All those sophomores and Juniors will be bigger, stronger, and battle tested. The seniors are a good group and lead the 2024 Dawg.
I am always excited to see what the Dawgs will look like each new year.
But in 2024 we know how much talent they bring back at all positions.
Let’s Go Dawgs 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 and hopefully in 2024 number 🏆
God Bless Coaches, Players, and Fans.

Ah come on please start blowing smoke up your players butts right now!

Don’t have to, the Dawgs bring back 90 percent of their players.
They will work hard and try for number 10 next year. Enjoy your well earned state championship.
After Gilmer beat the Dawgs, us Dawgs fans were pulling for Gilmer.
    Merry Christmas

I don’t agree. This game could have gone either way and this was a pretty even matchup. Gilmer won the turnover battle. Belleville Defense shut out the Bucs in the 2nd half. Something Carthage couldn’t do. Gilmer ran up and down the field on Carthage. I didn’t see PG play this year but the Bellevillle defense is on a whole different level than Carthage.

Carthage would have beat Belleville. Gilmers QB and receivers were deadly against the Dawg secondary. Nobody was just going to run the ball on Carthage. Belleville had no passing game. Gilmer’s defense played lights out against Belleville. I doubt Belleville would have scored on Gilmer had Gilmer left a safety back. Go back and watch the game. There was no one back in the middle of the field on both TD runs of Belleville. All Gilmer secondary was close to the line of scrimmage.

All the professionals let the computer sway their judgement.  They looked at the 15 games as a whole, vs looking at the last 6 or 9 to see the trend.  This was not the only game they missed this week.

East Texas 4A football is just a different animal. I knew Gilmer played the best 4A had to offer in East Texas and got better every game. If the Gilmer QB threw the ball against Belleville like he did against Carthage, it would have been a blow out. But with Henderson running the ball like a man on a mission and the Gilmer D playing like they did. It worked out just fine.

Like I said from the beginning, whoever wins will be the better team. Gilmer is the better team. I never said who would win the game, only countered crazy talk running Bellville down. Bellville gave a good account, but Gilmer is the better team.

Beast from the East, this year it is Gilmer.
Two East Texas teams in 4A, Chapel Hill didn’t finish like they had hoped but Gilmer did. East Texas still the King of 4A football. Gilmer played their rear ends off today. Congratulations
