  1. Sounds like another "not for long" hire for the notorious school board. Well done
  2. Watermelon Land school board strikes again! They had an accomplished coach with great experience and they run him off...this place can't get out of its own way
  3. Sandies already holding hoops practice after football practice....dress up your resume bud...don't think a W is in the works.
  4. Never heard of him. And if he's one of the top anythings in the U.S. and it has nothing to do with watermelons, why is he in Sandieland?
  5. After reading Deadspin's latest article on the Manziel klan, I was wondering if any Tyler area folks were inclined to confirm or dispute any of the ancedotes referred to in the article. Or if you don't want to read it(it's long), share any experiences you've had with Johnny or his family........
  6. "Grapeland should have as good of skilled players as anyone in the district. Defense is the question mark, but with a defensive minded HC, I think they will be much improved there. It will be a matter of discipline on if they can take the steps needed to go back into the playoffs. Cushing should have some good players, but I don't think they have enough to get it done this year." Grapeland folks crack me up. Always the coach. Wasn't Jerry Richards the defensive coordinator the last six seasons? But now it's going to be different? When will it come to "we need better players"
  7. Why don't you enlighten all of us then? Name several schools that wait until June to hire the leader of the football program, and after you make that list research their records. If you would rather not waste your time, then acknowledge that whoever is running GISD right now has damaged the program, because successful schools don't wait until June to hire their head coach. Surely you would agree that football success commences in the winter and spring, and is then that work ethic is fostered over the summer. Unfortunately, that isn't the case here, and the football athletes of GISD won't work on a championship level until the head coach is hired. Props to Cushing for moving so expeditiously on their recent vacancy. Maybe Grapeland is taking notes. But I just need to grow up.
  8. It's not ludicrous to conclude that whoever is in charge wants football to die. That's too bad. We can all learn from this example. This is Exhibit A on how not to run a successful football program.
  9. That's leaves waaaaayyyyy too much time before the season starts. The board could use all that July to ensure that they(not the superintendent, as effective schools are run) make the correct choice. Does this remind anyone of a school with a basketball athletic director? #hearnehempsteadgrapeland
  10. A moment of silence, please...........................................................................................................................
  11. SO PULL THE TRIGGER....WHY MESS AROUND....YOU HAVE A GOOD CANDIDATE IN TURNER WHO APPEARS TO WANT THE SPOT EVEN WITHOUT THE A.D. DUTIES(bad idea), SO DON'T SCREW IT UP AND RUN HIM OFF. STOP MAKING US ALL LAUGH AT THIS PLACE.
  12. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA What a laughingstock. GISD needs a superintendent with some gonads to stop this school board nonsense. PAY ATTENTION. This is what you get when 7 people are in charge. Meanwhile, I wonder how many kids are preparing for fall? Lifting? 7 on 7? C'mon y'all.
  13. Yeah, that move would definitely be atypical for the GISD brass (tarnished?).....it's too logical.....if he's available and willing they've already waited too long to pull the trigger.
