Strange thread. Some ETX fans seem like they are tired of Carthage. Congrats to Aledo for being the #1 program in Texas in a made up DCTF poll. I think even Carthage fans can admit Aledo has equal success as Carthage and does it at a higher level. Can agree 1a and 1b. Carthage has lost 2 games in 6 years. Craziness. People can say whatever they want. That’s ridiculous.

Carthage would dog walk Lufkin and JT the last couple years. Look how bad they have beat Marshall.

Nate Marry was awesome. Great player. But, Brown and Gates were 230 pound grown men with beards that played like they had babies to feed! I think you should rewatch some of the games. Also not taking away from your opinion. It’s just for kicks.

Really? Gates, Brown and Dejulian at LB were all 3 as good as Carthage has had. Colbert and a literal track star in the secondary in Hicks. Also Whitlock, Owens and Hicks were all studs as sophomores. I think you could be mis-remembering or just looking at the points allowed? You would have a hard time finding more then 2-3 players from 2022 that would’ve started on that D.

I guess people can have different opinions, but I’m not sure how anybody doesn’t believe 2017 was the best team to come through Carthage. Still one of the best teams I have seen in person at any level. I don’t think any of Surratt’s teams executed at that high of a level prior to that team or since.

Exactly. There are plenty of teams in D1 that would beat GR. They would have had a tough time getting out of R1. But Borne will have to show me they can beat CS. CS is on a heck of a run. I won’t bet against them until they get beat. We will find out in a few days.

What makes you think Glen Rose could beat China Spring? Glen Rose would not win state in D1. They went as far as they were going to go. They had a great season.

Original DOD was Carthage, Gilmer, Henderson, Pittsburg in 2010. Carthage and Gilmer has just won a state championship in 2009. Henderson was dropping from old 4a. Pitt had gone to the regional final in 2009 if I remember correctly. We know what Carthage and Henderson did in 2010. Kilgore and CH joined a couple years later. Carthage was in and out of the district depending on where the UIL put them until 4a split D1 and D2.

It obviously wasn’t a narrative. There is nothing that points to Argyle coaching being better than SOC. Both teams have good coaching. Probably safe to say SOC has better players. That showed tonight.

Who said that? I think it’s obvious that SOC is very well coached. Beat an undefeated Aledo team on the way to a State Championship last year. Looks like they will repeat.

Really is amazing how many of these types of games Carthage has won during Surratt’s time as HC. It’s the difference in a great program and a dynasty.

Somebody already said it, but #22 for Carthage ran like a man possessed late in the 4th quarter. #3 really stepped up in this one. Great performance!

Some Longview fans getting a little disrespectful with these predictions. Matching up with one of, if not the top, program in the state. Longview is for sure the favorite, but this is historically the kind of game when we see the Lobos sent home. Seems like a lot of the fans (not all) have a very short memory.

Agree. Defense will be legit. Not worried about them at all. Offense should be very good. I’m just not going to get on here going all in saying they are “loaded”. This is basically the same offense from last year. Granted they have had another year to get better as a group. Let’s see. Kilgore, Marshall, or Cornerstone are all tough games. That Cornerstone game last year was closer than the score. I think they had a heck of a team 2 years ago. Maybe 10-0. If I had to bet money I’d say 9-1. 8-2 would be losing 2 out of those 3. Could happen, but doubtful.

Did #11 graduate? What about some of those stud D-Lineman? And then big #74? Depends on CS new coach. And also depends who replaces the QB. Not a whole lot of difference in DI and DII at the 4a level. I think CS vs SV would have been a hell of a game last year.

Glad you are so confident in the offense. I got Carthage at 8-2 or 9-1 in the regular season. Should be undefeated in district. See what happens in the playoffs. 4a DII Region 2 has some really good teams.

Good test for both Kilgore and Carthage 1st game of the season. Neither one scheduled an easy win. Nothing will surprise me in this game. Kilgore with the big win. Carthage wins big. Or a game too close to call. Don’t know what to expect. On paper looks like Kilgore is the favorite, but Carthage has had their number since 2016.

Have a feeling this one won’t be as close as most are predicting. Should be a great atmosphere though. CH starting the year with a lot of hype. Gimme Bucks by a couple scores 1st week of the season.

For sure. I always thought he would be a better fit in the NFL than College. We are about to find out. Kingsbury is trading for and drafting TE. He is making his offense a little more pro-style multiple. Let’s see how Ingram does. He went to a pretty good situation. Not that many miles on his body in college. Health is going to determine a lot. If he can stay healthy I think he can stick around for a while. He is the kind of man that makes it in the NFL without being ultra talented or athletic (even though he is compared to most college athletes). KI is an adult and a hard worker. That’s most of what you see in the NFL. Hard working adults who get it.

Ebner having a better college career than Ingram must be coming from a Texas fan. Ingram might not have lived up to his ranking coming out of HS, but as a college RB he had a pretty damn good career if you look at the numbers. Ebner was a special teams monster which will help him make a team in the league, but as far as having a better college career as a RB than Ingram, I think you are wrong. Ingram played 4 years and missed some time, especially his junior year where he opted out. But for his career he still had 2,722 rushing yards at 5.5 ypc. He also had 671 receiving yards at 7.5 ypc. Ingram had a total of 3,393 total scrimmage yards in 4 years with a total of 22 TD. Ebner played 5 seasons and had a total of 1,690 rushing yards at 4.9 ypc. He added 1,515 receiving yards at 11.9 ypc. So much better out if the backfield as a receiver, but that’s also due to the system and use. Ebner had a total of 20 TD in 5 seasons and total yards from scrimmage of 3,205. Good luck to both young men. Both well deserved and I know it’s a dream come true for both young men. Just thought I’d drop a post about the “better” college career. Ingram gets a lot of hate from Texas fans. Glad he had some success at USC his last year. Actually would’ve loved to see him play one more year for a real coach at USC. Would’ve no doubt improved his draft stock.

China Spring was just better than everybody else this year. Plain and simple. Congrats to them on a state championship. Cherish it. I know y’all’s whole town must be ecstatic! Great season Buckeyes. Back to back trips on the state final is nothing to hang your head about. Will be right back in it next year. GATA this off-season. My Dawgs have some more retooling to do for the 2022 season. Should be another great year. But expectations will need to be tempered a little bit. Obviously its championship or bust every year in Carthage and the offense should be much improved with another year in the system and a lot returning. But pretty much entire D is gone. Or at least a large chunk of it. But reinforcements are on the way and soon!! Might see some freshman on the Varsity next year. Got a couple back to back special classes coming!
