  1. I checked Hastings, Barnes and Noble and Walgreen's in College Station today. Nothing yet. Part of the fun for me is looking for the magazine in stores. I have done the same for many years with Dave Campbell's Texas Football, so I'm pretty forgiving. Of course, it would be good to see it before two-a-days start. Keeping the faith.
  2. Killeen's Gene Rogers, who died early this year, and Bryan's Ross Rogers are a father-son combo in the Hall of Honor. Mike certainly has earned his Hall of Honor status.

  4. D.J. Weathers started the game and played about three minutes. I'm not sure he ever touched the ball. Mexia led all of the first half. Athens got back-to-back steals in its third-quarter run to the lead and the Hornets moved up by nine at one point. Athens completely controlled the boards, but the Blackcats rallied back into it. D.J. Robinson was at the free throw line , shooting for a tie. Down one, he missed his second shot. Leon Gray got a rare Mexia offensive rebound and passed out to Mister Carroll, who drained a 3. Mexia built a four-point lead on a Carroll free throw and Athens got a 3-pointer with about four seconds left and the clock ran out without an inbound. It was the first time I had seen either team. Athens was by far the better team inside. But for Mexia to win without its best player was pretty impressive. Fun game to watch.

  6. UIL changed their website to say that the first game would start at 10:30. No update from them since then, but it sounds like no game yet, either.
  7. UIL just posted: Rain Delay Updates Games held at UFCU Disch-Falk Field are not currently delayed. Games held at the Dell Diamond will be delayed. The first game will begin 1 1/2 hours after the rain stops. We will post more information on this page as it become available.
  8. I saw a weather site that indicated Round Rock had received 3.36 inches of rain today.
  9. Should be a great game. Mike Hedrick got his 200th career coaching win last week. http://www.brazossports.com/football/BOWEN...aches-milestone
  10. No dark numerals on dark jerseys. For some teams, you can't tell the players WITH a program.
  11. I would think coaches should know by now who is in the top four. Regional meets were only two days away. Their qualifying times should tell you who is in and who is out. Let's hope they get the regional meets in, but I'm not coming down too hard on the UIL. For now, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I never thought I would say this but maybe this time they do know more than we do.
  12. I'm trying to find a schedule for the Region III-2A meet Friday and Saturday. What time do the field events start each day? What time are the running prelims and 3,200 Friday? I also need the time for the running finals. Any help would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know why the meet was moved from Palestine this year?
  13. Cameron is a small 3A school and could be headed to 2A in the next alignment. If they go 2A, they could be tough. If they stay 3A, this job could be tough. They finished in a three-way tie for second behind Navasota this year, but lost out in the tiebreaker. Their tradition is outstanding.
  14. If it works as well as the football broadcast, you should enjoy the first quarter and part of the second before it cuts off. But pehaps AT&T has learned a thing or two about bandwidth since then.
