  1. A young defensive line does not bode well for Nac. Kilgore will eat you alive and make you like it. The great Nac secondary will have to stop Kilgore runners on every play, probably AFTER they have gashed through for a good gain. Oh, and Kilgore is gonna bleed the clock to death. If Nac wins this one, they have my respect and I'll expect even bigger things from them the rest of the year.
  2. We are saying the same thing about Justice. Not as fast, but just so dadgum hard to stop and get him down. They are fun players to watch.

  8. The proportion IS close to the same. Longview starts off with more quality atheletes (than Gilmer, Tatum, Daingerfield) when their enrollment is 2000, otherwise they would not be able to compete and beat Allen with an enrollment twice their size, just as Gilmer, Tatum, Daingerfield routinely beat teams twice their size.
  9. Maybe and Yes. There is nothing to show the quality of those extra 220 schools. The cream always rises to the top, regardless of numbers. Perhaps the odds are better with smaller numbers, but I would not bet on it. Flip a coin 180 times or 440 times and you will get close to the same result.
  10. Gilmer has competed with and beaten teams close to twice their size multiple times, including for a state title. Please compare the enrollments of Gilmer and Abilene Wylie. I don't see the 2 to 3,000 difference at the top level being much different. Seems to be a closer comparison than some here want to admit. That being said, competing against the larger schools ain't no cake walk. It would be good if Smoaky had a page in the history section showing all state titles in all classes with the enrollments of the winning/losing teams and a total at the end showing how many bigger schools won it all, to see the advantage, if there is one. That would settle this question with certainty.

  14. Ditto. For those that seem to have been slighted, their playoff performances should get them the love they deserve on the future All-State teams coming out in a few weeks.
  15. Congratulations JB and may the new little smack talker's timeouts be not nearly as long as you have suffered through. The early learning about Satan makes me think you will soon have some very stiff competition for the all-time timeout record on Smoaky.
  16. I met a lineman from SLC that played against Stoney and he gave just about the same opinion. Bad to the bone and more. Lots of respect for that one Stonie Clark.
  17. After seeing the photos and reading the game results from last week, I think the more accurate description of Gladewater is that their RB is HURT-ful. There other regular backs may be hurting, but Daylon Mack is carrying the load.
  18. Glad to see the Bears come out of hibernation in time for the playoffs. Gladewater is now playing like we expected them to play at the start of the season. Better late than never, especially in the playoffs.
