Don’t want to speak too soon but this is the best game turnover wise I have seen Waskom play this year.

I hope I am wrong, but I only see Waskom score if DF gets bored and goes to sleep. If they can run straight ahead their dives will max out at 3-4 plays.
pulling for the Waskom kids to step up on defense but to do that would require a whole different tackling attitude.Based on in numbers Waskom will drop and then have a little better chance.

Here’s a thought. Waskom is basically JV this year. Play the mixed group Thursday night and compete, maybe even win , then forfeit Friday night. 2–0 loss much better than the expected 70 they would get in a game against DF varsity. Everyone gets a long weekend out of the deal. Sounds alike a win win. ( this was tongue in cheek.. sorta)

Harmony up the middle for many yards and points too. Waskom might score some unless they fumble the ball on every possession. Hope it is a competitive game. Might go see this one if I feel froggy tomorrow evening.

Sadly, I just don’t see any good answers this year for Waskom’s defensive woes. They just look …. Short handed?

Van should be favored as they have dominated the Bears for a lot of years now. However this senior class of Bears is one of the few who have seen some success in their past games with the Vandals. This could be interesting.

I want to root for the Wildcats. But the truth is they are playing mostly JV kids on the varsity. I am surprised at their numbers though. Would not have thought the population next to an interstate would have fallen off like the ETX towns way out in the woods

Got to see this on YouTube. Waskom showing some growth but short handed on defense especially in the middle. Didn’t seem that Sabine ever felt threatened on the outcome though.

Surprised that Waskom is picked that much. Sabine outplayed them last year. Of course only 2or 3 of the Waskom players played in that game.

The “c” word came to my mind when I read through this thread, but was not gonna say it. Didn’t have to though. Almost every school district is infected to some degree.
I really had hope for one of the Waskom kids. He had natural talent but apparently had problems. No comment on the other one.
Thought last year ended better than I expected and I think WR knows how fortunate they were to get past Waskom. They graduated a bunch last year and a lot of them only had one starting year on varsity. That’s never a good sign for a new staff.
I was impressed with the little freshman QB and hope he comes through and more importantly, stays out of trouble in school.
DF should win the district, but I can see Waskom fighting for second if things fall into place.-

2013 Waskom vs Refugio in Reliant had many of us scratching our heads on what we perceived as flagrant holding being overlooked until late in the game. They got called for it against Cisco the next week. Iknow... sour grapes.... Refugio was better that year.

Every so often a team is destined for greatness. I think of the 1979 Van Vandals, and the 198?5678?? Chapel Hill Bulldogs. Harmony looked pretty good last week.

Can’t see it. Might be them and Newton. Might be Newton/Harmony. The two best teams are DF and Newton. Bad draw for Daingerfield.
