  1. Agree for sure. Got to make progress on putting drives together. Big plays are fun but can’t rely on them .
  2. Reminds me when my brother taught agriculture. Had a kid asked him where the school “denotes” was ? Ironically that same kid has made a lot of money in his life.
  3. I didn’t want to say too much but Joaquin played Waskom’s defense much better than Logansports spread team. After seeing JJs Arp video I didn’t think they could hang with Joaquin and I was right. Hope they have a great saason.
  4. I found Redwater hard to gauge. Either they were better on the interior line than we thought or the new lineman for Waskom have a lot of growing to do. Likely some of both. They were never a threat on the offense as the Waskom defense had a tremendous speed advantage. I think expectations for the Waskom offense likely too high considering how many new kids were in place. Hoping the offense comes together by the Daingerfield game.
  5. I saw a game a few years back that a team that had taken the lead had a chance to run the clock out but coach thought he needed more points and called a pass play. In the end the defense held and the game was won ... but it did get dicey at the end. Was funny hearing women in the stands asking why such a play was called . Might be a few on here who was at that game.
  6. That is correct. Have seen this happen more than once, but in the big game it was surprising to see it.
  7. This should be the strongest Brownsboro team in the last 3-4 years. They will need to be to compete in their new district.
  8. I will pull for you guys Demo. The bears have won there before!
  9. Well, then he had to have been a sophomore playing on the freshman team. We both had JV and freshmen teams that year.
  10. When my freshmen played Van it was the QB that hurt us the most. That group of kids are seniors this year. I wonder what happened with that situation. ??
  11. Right, cause air E never took the calls down from the press box about passing too much.
  12. Yep, sorry bout oversight on the x placement. Plays are much the same and results oftentimes sees either a wide open receiver or a back running down the field and much of the defense not knowing who has the ball.
  13. Lot of pressure on Waskom’s new AD in this one. He hasn’t ever had a team picked to win a game by 38 points
  14. Don’t know what ARP has coming in, but thought the Rams did a good job running the wing T offense. If they do their thing ARP won’t have the ball very much.
  15. Agree with that assessment. Not a fan of the running clock on live quarters. Penalties and special team play that wasn’t live was frustrating to watch.
  16. No, you misunderstood me. They scored 69 at Reliant. Game was NOT played outdoors. Refugio coach called a timeout and went for broke on a fourth down pass at the end. Word was their coach said if they didn’t score 70 he was afraid they might not be strong enough to beat Cisco. They missed the extra point to get only 69. Must have been an omen caused Cisco kicked their butt in ATT.
  17. And Waskom was pick to finish 3rd in district in 2015. And not to make any waves but Coach Pearson lobbied to play Refugio outdoors and not give them the benefit of playing in a dome. Refugio was the better team especially as Aimee was not playing, but ...... outside might have helped.
  18. Jefferson @ Waskom Friday 5 pm JV start.
  19. While all this history is quite interesting (not), this thread is about Waskom 22-23. New coaching staff in place, loss of key players to Tatum, all means change is inevitable. Heard the defense played as expected Saturday morning against each other. Can they score though? Hearing they are favored by 38 over 1st week Redwater so they still have players. I know the skill players are bigger than their previous state champs, but have yet to prove they have the intangibles that was there then. Maybe Pearson can bring that back?
  20. Photo I am referring to is this next year’s seniors. Maybe they assigned that number to someone that didn’t play last year?
  21. Just looked at the senior photos of the team and there is a #7 in the photo. By the photo I would not have guessed him to be the fastest kid in it. Looks can be deceiving though.
  22. Well, since he is in Tatum I guess I must have been misinformed about their team speed this year. So much disinformation going around in our country these days, one has to see it to actually believe it.
  23. The 2014 and 2015 teams were “pretty fast’ in my eyes
  24. I could have sworn I read a reply on this thread this morning. Something about mobile homes? I would much rather be reading about 2022 Wildcat expectations and updates. I am hearing they will be pretty fast in key spots again this year. Speed sure is a luxury in football.
  25. All of those things make sense. Waskom had perhaps one of the most football friendly superintendents in the whole state when keeling came in. Great man and a huge football fan. He retired. Change was inevitable.
