  1. Did Coach come out and say that he knew? Or did Chris say that he had told Coach?
  2. Someone asked and I told them about college players vs LTs. Someone else said that Coach King didn't put D1 players out, I showed that they do. When you can make an argument, come talk to me. Til then, you can keep saying "Longview will win 8 games and be ousted in the 2nd round every year" over and over to you heart's content.
  3. But it wasn't only in 3rd and long situations. When your RB averages something like 10 yards a carry for the season, that's okay. The offense was different then, and was based on running with 2 Division 1 backs behind a Division 1 tackle. Against Mesquite Horn, I think we only threw 3 passes that entire game. Why? Because our RB had 9 carries for 269 yards and 4 TDs. It's way different now with all the throwing that we're doing. Kelly was a good player who's talents were shown as a home run threat. His catches were explosive and usually gains of 50+ yards.
  4. From what I saw in the game, Texas hung in there against one of the best teams in the nation. They had too many turnovers (a few for TDs) to win. The game was closer than the final score indicated, but they need a QB that won't lose them a game. Doesn't have to be a killer QB who lights up a scoreboard, but can't LOSE them the game (as Swoopes did).
  5. Awesome! Although I think the problem goes a little bit deeper. Our defensive guys are not big enough, nor physical enough. It takes a certain type of player to compete in the SEC on defense, and we don't have them. Hopefully the younger guys are more fit to play and, combined with a new DC, A&M's defense will improve. According to Chip Brown, A&M will be getting Gary Patterson as our DC hahaha Nothing that I've heard of yet.
  6. They beat mighty Idaho! And we completely defeated Baylor's spirit apparently. They can't even cheer for their team when they are in their best years ever. All they can do is hope for us to lose lol
  7. Wrong again. He was thrown to on 1st and 10 quite a bit. The offense was more run oriented at the time, yes. It's not like he was giving the ball to scrubs in lieu of Kelly. He was giving it to a future NFLer and a Texas recruit, running behind another future NFLer. Hope this helps.
  8. Typical. Everything is the coach's fault and our kids are the most talented in the state every year. Yeah, no. And FYI, Coach King has sent many players to colleges all over. We were specifically talking the 08 and 09 teams which didn't have as much on the roster.
  9. If nothing else, the 08 LT team had Garrett Gilbert who, while a bust in college, was one of the top recruits in the state and set a state record. The next year, their QB ended up at Texas Tech. How many did we send to Power 5 conferences? I know Aaron Johnson went to mid-major Houston. Did we send anyone to Big XII schools? Or SEC? Cause comparing a player who ended up at Henderson State to one who wound up at Texas is a bad comparison.
  10. Yeah? If you did, Kirk Herbstriet might've called your fanbase the best he's ever seen like he did after seeing an A&M Yell Practice. I think A&M has more people attend Yell Practice than Baylor has at home games in their fake-brick stadium lmao
  11. Yep. Noting an obsession wasn't an attempt at an insult. It was pointing out how pathetic you are - trying to ruin a Thanksgiving thread because of your unfounded hate and obsession with A&M. You're fighting for a playoff spot. And all you ever post about here is A&M. More than half of the posters here are Texas fans. I guess them not beating you 20 years in a row is a reason you're not posting about them all the time? I do feel bad, though. We've completely ruined your ability to cheer for your team to be happy haha
  12. I remember it being 4 times as well (and one int). Coach King knew about his broken hand? How do you know that? And he did put in Adrian Brooks to run, and Brooks said that the Lufkin players were hitting at his hands at the ball.
  13. What game was this after, that you heard that comment? Cause Robert was a decent player, but he had an absolute field day against Lufkin the first time we played them. It didn't take some keen eye for talent to see that Robert was an absolute man among boys on that day. I really remember him being with us on JV the following weeks. Hmm Either way, we are getting way off base. Coach King, at the time, was offensive coordinator. It wasn't up to him to move players up or down, especially on the defensive side of the ball, which he didn't coach, so using this example to knock Coach Kings eye for talent is off base.
  14. Nobody has said anything like what you're saying. It's a stupid straw man argument, yet you've posted it like 30 times now, making yourself look dumber every time you do it. You're taking ONE year where Longview had their worst team under King (or second worst) and saying that will be the norm? You're desperate to make that argument. We get it. But it just isn't correct. Sorry.
  15. Funny. They went to the semifinals without Aaron Johnson. And to the quarterfinals the year before. Hmm. And you must be crazy. Go back and watch the SS game in 09 and the Lufkin game in 08. It was inventive playcall that used Johnson's talent in a great way.
  16. None of that changes that it was the incorrect call which directly cost A&M a chance. It's been 3 years since we smacked you around yearly. Why such the hate for A&M? In a Thanksgiving thread, you STILL had to come in and throw your typical, old, unoriginal comments at A&M. Did the yearly beatings get in your head? That's the difference in our programs. Baylor is in its greatest run in history, and all you can do is talk about A&M! LOL! I do feel kinda bad, though. It feels like A&M took away your joy to watch your team. I understand. Going 2-26 against a team will do that to you, I guess.
  17. The story about Henson can't be true. Henson was on JV his entire Junior year and didn't get bumped to Varsity til his Senior year. He did have a huge game in Lufkin that we lost 14-12, though, yes. I don't remember PC being at that game, but then again, I wasn't really looking for him- I was playing. While he was an absolutely killer player all 4 years, his Junior year (and a man among boys on JV) , there were 2 older guys there- Brandon Templeton and James Stevens who were starting that year on Varsity, and nobody was going to start over them. If Coach Outlaw was so good, why didn't he get out of the first or second round for his last like 6 years at Lufkin? After his run through 05, his playoff record was 2-6 with all but 2 losses coming in the first round. The others? Second round.
  18. N/m Didn't wanna cross any lines and be offsides with my post.
  19. So it wasn't inside the 10 three times as you claimed before? And one of those times, it was the QB Freeman who carried the ball down the field on a big play. Hope this helps.
  20. That fullback you speak of was Chris Ivory, who's in the NFL now. Why'd you fail to mention that but announced that Vondrell went to Texas? Ivory had a broken hand that the coaches didn't know about (and he was pulled from the game eventually) and he did fumble the ball a few times, although not inside the 10, on triple option plays (that could've gone to the QB or RB instead). Against Guyer, the kick was blocked... not returned for a touchdown. The defense still had a chance to stop Guyer but didn't. Both were execution failures by players, although I've heard that the clock was mismanaged that game. I wasn't there, so I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if people are exaggerating things (like saying Chris Ivory fumbled inside the 10 on three different occasions). Either way, if there was a single second left on the clock, it wouldn't have mattered- Guyer scored on their first play from scrimmage on that drive, so I find it hard to believe that an entire 25 seconds were not run off the clock when they could've been.
  21. So what are we basing it off of? Because that Leander team had a lot of talent... South Garland did too in 2007, and they had only lost one game. Are we going on W/L records or on the team's talent? You can't have it both ways.
  22. That makes more sense. Still, Campbell saw limited time on the Varsity his Junior year (and was only in the game vs Evangel in 2003 because JV was off that week and because Gordon Freeman was ejected from the game), behind Keaton Daniels and Gordon Freeman (who was a safety that year lol), and Rashah Williams. He was a defensive leader on the next team though.
  23. He did SO well with Jorvorskie Lane, Terrance Parks, the two Claybons, Jamarcus MacFarland, Dez Bryant, etc. huh? He had good talent and aside from a 4-year stretch, didn't do much of anything. He was ousted in the first or second round more years than not with that stacked talent. Did he really say that?
