  1. At least they have the cojones to put on the stripes and get out on the field! Easy to make the call from the cheap seats. And how do you know many of them haven't called or don't still call college football?
  2. Actually, the official final score was 51-13 (the PAT by Centerville as the power flickered off counted).
  3. The QB is the ball carrier. Essentially the only penalty you can call on a ball carrier is a face mask penalty. He was apparently ruled down as he pulled the defender down by the face mask.
  4. Actually, the tackle box only extends one (1) yard from the LOS, not three (3).
  5. We had a coach back in the day at Gladewater,Coach Bobby Bernard, (who a NCAA Hurdling Champion at TCU), who would often say, "Boys, you gotta scratch and claw for every point...every point." It didn't matter if was football or at a track meet, that was his go-to saying.
  6. Matt Stepp is reporting that Manuel OC and Jasper alum, Kendrick Crumedy, will be named Jasper’s new HC.
  7. And in 1978, the Bears sat home from the playoffs as an undefeated team, only tying West Rusk 7-7, who then advanced into the playoffs by having more penetrations I believe.
  8. So Bird, just how do you know that Jonny is filling out apps?
  9. Confirmed or just pulling this out of your sphincter?
  10. Just confirmed by KLTV: Jason Holman
  11. Very accustomed to seeing "the Gate"being run for PATs, but began seeing several teams run it from scrimmage plays. Caught a few defenses off guard.
  12. How was it a "bad snap?" (Legit question.) I ask because if it was an"illegal snap,"(which the signal would have been the same as for a "false start,") then the play would have been whistled dead. Again, only asking for clarification on what happened.
  13. I second this comment! Not only do you get the magazine (and before it is available on the stands to the rest of the Texas Football World, you have TONS of online information, podcasts, videos, etc. at your finger tips! And you get to hear Tepp & Stepp and see the lovely Ashley Pickle from time to time!
  14. Golf, First, I personally don’t have a problem with any of the three team’s jerseys. it is the head of UIL that apparently has the problem. As far as Dekalb, their colors are orange and black and their mascot is the bears.
  15. If memory serves me correct, that "winning" TD was called back because of an offensive lineman was something like 10 yards downfield when the pass was thrown, which was not the first time said OL had done it during the game.
  16. Actually, by definition from the powers=that-be at the UIL (Dr.Elzra to be exact), thos dark jerseys worn by Gilmer (along with the same color & style worn by Gladewater and Dekalb) are, by the UIL's definition - "illegal." And it is NOT TASO, it is the UIL who is behind this issue.
  17. Apparently the other night, Arby's was completely out! And a few days later, several Taco Bells were also out! So who knows what is going on with all of the beef! LOL!
  18. Stepp, As always, enjoyed seeing y'all in College Station, the great coverage y'all give the event, teams, and players!
  19. The UIL lifted its Friday night broadcast ban for the 2020 football season, in a supposed one-time move necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic and the capacity restrictions that were put in place across the state. With the offseason quickly winding down and Covid-19 restrictions being loosened across the state, many questions are being asked about the possibility of live Friday night broadcasts for the 2021 season. As of now there is no word from the UIL regarding the status of the Friday night broadcast ban for the 2021 season, but there should be movement that comes down sometime in the summer. According to multiple sources, an informal survey among the THSCA has already been taken and the response was more than positive for the ban to be lifted. A survey regarding the Friday night broadcast is being sent out to school superintendents in the next couple of weeks that could be quite influential towards a potential UIL Legislative Council decision. One interesting potential plot twist to the decision-making process will be that currently UIL executive director Dr. Charles Breithaupt still has the ability to make decisions without the approval of the Legislative Council, based on the emergency measures put into place last spring at the start of the pandemic. Will that potential unilateral decision-making power be extended, or will we see a return to a more normal operating process within the UIL soon? Another factor to consider is stricter local guidelines surrounding Covid-19; local school districts can still possibly limit attendance for the 2021 football season, which complicates matters even further. Most sources believe there’s more support for lifting the Friday night broadcast ban at the larger schools, but much less support exists for the lifting of the ban in the smaller schools. One possible “compromise” for the 2021 football season may be treating football broadcasts on Friday night like other sports and how football broadcasts are handled for Thursday and Saturday night games, which involves the mutual agreement of both participating schools. Expect some clarity surrounding the rule to come in June or possibly with an announcement at the 2021 THSCA Convention in San Antonio.
  20. So, does this mean that is Anderson in the "lead" for this position?
  21. Best of luck to Coach Bachtel. A good coach for sure and a great career move for him!
  22. I have to agree. By allowing individual schools to stream games, they not only provide a broadcast of games to those who cannot (or choose not) to attend because of a variety of reasons, along with (in many cases) providing some of the bigger high schools "media kids" to be able to get some "real-world" experience in broadcasting! Someone mentioned Texas High, Tyler ISD, and Pine Tree (which was outstanding), but other schools had their students produce a good product.
  23. Exactly! Lets completely cancel our economy, our way of life, and everything good and Holy for a virus that came into this country with much controversy and unreliable B.S. data, and has a 99.5% survival rate (WAY much higher than the yearly flu). Wash your hands. Cough & sneeze into your elbow (then wash your hands again)! If you feel sick, stay your butt at home! Lets Go People! We are Texas!
