  1. Most points Winnsboro has scored since 2012 when they scored 417 in 12 games!
  2. Josh Finney. With that speed....
  3. 1. Gunter 2. Leonard 3. S&S 4. Whitewright 5. Prairiland 6. Cooper 7. Chisum Prairiland up from the cellar and S&S/Whitewright flipping spots.
  4. How many underclassmen did they start?
  5. I want to say the last time Cooper made playoffs was in 2010. They've finished one place out a few times since then.
  6. 6-4 VA. FINAL VA with 5 runs in the B5.
  7. They haven't kept a head coach either though, have they? I feel like it's almost been a swinging door. I'm not sure, really asking.
  8. Yes they have a great 1-2 punch. Lots of seniors and like you said they score when needed. Won't have to score a whole lot with the pitching they have, but I figure they will get them going by the end of district which will make them very hard to beat with the pitching they have.
  9. It will be interesting to see how long they can. This district is pretty deep. I obviously didn't think Greenville would be any good, but besides MP, it seems like anyone could surprise you. Their bats should come around by the end of district and their pitching is second to few.
  10. I did, but who's really paying attention? HA!
  11. No harm. Was interested in what you had seen. HS seems to be that way every year. It's always fun to see how far they can go. They have the experience for sure.
  12. I see what you're saying. MV's ace is good though. Will be interesting to see how he throws.
  13. Friday March 20 GS @ Edgewood Mineola @ Winnsboro Winona @ Harmony AG @ Quitman Standings: Grand Saline Indians (1-0) Edgewood Bulldogs (1-0) Winnsboro Raiders (1-0) Mineola Yellowjackets (1-0) Alba-Golden Panthers (0-1) Quitman Bulldogs (0-1) Harmony Eagles (0-1) Winona Wildcats (0-1) Actually see the playoff race finishing exactly how the 1-4 are right now. GS, EW, Winnsboro, and Mineola in that order.
  14. Baseball: Hallsville SS Longview Texas High Pine Tree Marshall MP Greenville
  15. Is that your order of finish?
  16. The turning point was when A&M got the LSU coach that had been recruiting him. LSU was originally a finalist because of said coach. Had A&M not gotten the coach, Mack would probably be at LSU or Texas. Said staying in Texas was important but not deciding.
  17. Prairiland didn't lose too much. Lost no pitching I know for a fact. I believe they lost 4 seniors - Catcher, CF, 2B, and Utility. The coaching change will be the fact to watch.
  18. The district will shape up to be pretty nice. It's the old district from the 08-10ish years. New Boston, Redwater, Hooks, and Prairiland should be the favorites to make the playoffs. Dekalb will be scrappy this year though with some key parts returning. Cooper hasn't played to their potential in quite some time IMO, and with the problems Chisum has had keeping a head coach, it will be a long time before they build a program.
  19. Palestine is now open. Jay Brown leaves after one season and 1-9 record. http://etsn.fm/jay-brown-leaves-palestine-job-after-one-season/
  20. QB is a sophomore I believe...not sure about the rest of the team.
  21. I think we can all agree that an 0-10 team should never make the playoffs. After one week of playoffs though, they're gone. It's a bad situation with only four teams being in the district. It's hard for the UIL to start making side rules for ands, ifs and buts. Would love to see every district have 7-8 maybe even 10 team districts. But the amount of money in travel it would cost some teams would break their budget. The system will never be perfect, but for now it's working. I too will be counting down the days until next August. It never gets old. It's something special, TXHSFB I mean.
  22. Some of you people are ridiculous. Complaining about more football? How can anyone complain about more football? I graduated a year or two before they moved it to four teams? I was upset about it. Not because I thought it was a bad idea. I was upset that it happened after I graduated. I can't speak for other regions in Texas, but here in East Texas, there are some really good districts...DEEP districts. My Senior year of High School, 3 of the 4 regional semi-finalist were all from my district. My Junior year 2 were, with one winning the State Championship for the third year in a row. We felt like if we could just get in the playoffs, we could have a little run, 2-3 rounds. I agree with the fact that it seems like everyone gets a ribbon. But what does it matter if they get sent home the first round? It keeps District Champions fresh without a week off if they are a true District Champion. Last year, Gladewater made it to the Regional Semi-Finals being a #4 seed. They went 2-4 in District. But wait, they had Kilgore (State-Finalist), Gilmer, and Chapel Hill all finish ahead of them. Yes, there are some changes that could be made, but no system is perfect. I hate the fact that Allen and Desoto are playing this week. I feel like it is a top three game of the playoffs, but that's how the bracket fell. One top 10 team in the state, Top 25 team in the nation will finish the year nothing but a Bi-District Champion, Area-Finalist. Like many have stated, TXHSFB is as popular as ever. Why try to fix something that obviously isn't broken? The times when 1, 2, or 3 teams make the playoffs are over. My high school coach used to tell us that he lost 4 games his entire high school football career. Never made the playoffs. They got beat by the same team every year, finishing each with one loss. The system wasn't perfect then either, but it is what it is, so sit back and enjoy the next five weeks instead of bashing on about a topic that will probably not matter after the next two weeks because there may or may not be any four seeds left. If there are, everyone will be whooping and hollering about the upsets that continue to happen. That's the beautiful thing about it. These are 14-18 year old young men that are playing the game. They could come out and lay an egg. Any given day someone can lose. So like I said, sit back and enjoy the next five weeks. After the last state championship game, we will all be wanting more.
