  1. The folks in Navasota are really looking forward to this matchup. We still have so many unanswered questions. How will the team do after Fedora's departure? How will Malek do? The offensive line, will they gel? Will the defense live up to their potential and expectations? After two good scrimmages, 4-1 vs Bellville and 5-1 (20-6 in 1 live quarter) vs 5A Tomball, for me, I'm still unsure how good this team is or can be. Defensively, we looked really good at times aside for giving up a few nice runs by the Cougars. They did make up for those runs with 3 INTs.. Offensively, I hope that the Malek (Yes, another Malek) led Rattlers can find their stride... Become an efficient machine like we've seen over the years. If we can get through this regular season with a 9-1 or 8-2 record, that will ease some of my concerns. Franklin, Magnolia West, Stafford, and Bryan High should definitely test us in pre district. District wise, it will come down to Navasota vs Silsbee. There will not be any "easy" games for the Rattlers this season.
  2. One more week... How are the Lions looking through their first scrimmage?
  3. I believe the JV team went undefeated last season.. Or, they lost to Sealy by 7.. I could be getting my years confused.
  4. Bellville @ Navasota Friday, Aug 12
  5. I like this matchup. As some have pointed out, Navasota defense should be very strong this season and should carry the Rattlers early in the season. Navasota keeps reloading and this year shouldn't be any different. If my memory serves me correctly, Navasota's JV team went undefeated last season with wins against The Woodlands or College Park, Georgetown Eastview (42-0), Cy Springs (27-26), and Giddings (31-7). If the new QB can get comfortable, Navasota should be a team to watch come playoffs. Navasota will scrimmage former district foe, Bellville this week. The Brahmas run the slot T. I haven't seen anyone run it as well as Liberty Hill and Caldwell when they were running it. If Navasota can create some turnovers, a few stops, and take advantage of our offensive possessions, it will be a long night for the Lions.
  6. That may do it. Congrats! Good luck. Bring home the trophy!
