  2. Dear ********, 14 Nov 2004 When I wrote to you yesterday I told you that it had been a nice, relaxing and quiet day. We finished the night with a BBQ for the folks in our section. I wrote you just before I went to church at 8 pm. Just as we began mass there was a muffled boom which was followed shortly after by cell phone calls for the medical folks that were in mass. They quickly departed and while the mass continued, there was a noticeable hush on the group. After mass the three of us, MAJ ****
  3. An Internet email whether true or not thought it was cute. The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well. Bonus question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student wrote t

  10. Gasoline is a spot market commodity. Blindref if a C-store makes a .05 profit per gallon and the price goes down .05, will you buy from him or the station a .05 cheaper.
  11. Yes, its called a nonrenewable resource. Eventually we will run out. You are right $1.50 will be cheap.

  13. I think the problem of the moment is related to the "Blackout". Several east coast refineries were shutdown by the blackout. Less supply + same demand = Higher Prices. I suspect that the prices will come down after Labor Day.
  14. BoBell, The reason I ask the question on your career aspirations is the following. I don't know if at your school you have foreign exchange students from Europe. I think we can agree most European nations are more socialist than the United States (although the liberals are moving us toward the European socialist models). In many of the European countries the young people are administered tests to determine their aptitudes for careers. If you wish to be a writer and you the test says you have no aptitude for writing, the society will not spend any of its resources to make you a writer a

  17. I apologize for being late to the debate. Thought I would give it some time. Wish Bo had some friends. Tell me about the "good" of socialized medicine. Have you heard of the Mayo Clinic? You know who makes up the largest portion of the cliental? Canadians. Why? Because they can't get medical treatment on a timely basis in Canada. Why? Canada has a socializd medical system. In the US if you need a heart bypass surgury, you are rolled into a hospital the next day and your chest is cracked open and the procedure is done. In Canada you are evaluated as to need and put on a waiting li
