Texas High should win. Their experiences with North Lamar and Mt. Pleasant should be forefront in their mind. This is a game about building momentum into the playoffs. I suspect that Barry will put the 10-0 record in front of them. Defense seems to be starting to gel and the offense is back on track. They need to put it together for 3 strong quarters. Paris will be the most athletic team the Tigers will see in district. They will not go down easily and they are clawing for a playoff spot.

Programs like Gilmer and Texas High are built, they don't just magically appear. I think we take these coaches for granted. The coach at North Lamar has done the most with the talent he has available. I am not taking anything away from the other coaches, but every coach has his challenges. If you read the threads in August, the concern was a completely new OL at Texas High and basic new LB and DBs.

Smoaky, curious about in 4A - What was your logic in rating the 12-4A teams compared to the 11-4A teams after Texas High & Whitehouse. With the losses in both districts I would think it would be hard to compare accross districts, except for past reputations. In 11-4A, I have a problem with Lindale as the second best. Defensively they are about as good as Sulphur Springs (which beat Whitehouse). Even though they beat North Lamar, I think they are at best the 4th best team in the district. If Mt. Pleasant beats them, which I believe they will, I think they are the 5th best team in 11-4A. I have to go with Paris as #2. This had to be the hardest classification to rank.

4A had to be your hardest region. Other than 1 & 2, It is difficult to figure out where the 11-4A & 12-4A teams stand compared to one another. I have a problem with Lindale as the #2 team in 11-4A. Having not see Paris, I think they may be the second best team based on talent in 11-4A. Lindale is #4 in my book, even though they beat North Lamar. Only Sulphur Springs has a worse defense than Lindale.

QB was a sophmore. I think they are trying to learn a new system like Mt Pleasant. Will do okay in the future.

After reading the post, I am dizzy. Just call Texas High when you have figured out Div I. If it makes you feel any better 11-4A is in a mess for Div II spots with the games on Friday. Will be an interesting week.

Personally after seeing Lindale & NL, I am shocked by Lindale's win. I thought Lindale would score on NL, but did not think their defense could hold up to the pounding. After seeing Lindale and MP, I have to go with MP. Defensively, I felt they were more athletic than NL.

After seeing both teams I am shocked. Proud Lindale coaches were able to turn it around after last week. I guess 11-4A is a fouled up as 12-4A.

All Texas High. Mallett had a good game and I suspect Rowland Smith went over 1000 yards on the season. I doubt Sulphur Springs had more than 150 yards total offense. Sulphur center was having all sorts of problems with the deep snap. Was surprised the coach did not run the offense under center. Texas High clinches district title.

Pretty close to the story. Except Mack pulling the offer was Summer of 2006 not "shortly thereafter". Mallett may have been an Arkansas fan, but Nutt did him wrong. Move to TE????????? In January, he will enroll at Michigan after the Army AA game.

With the season they are having now??? I doubt it. Then they better quit that dream. My understanding Nutt did Mallett wrong at a summer camp a couple of years ago. He is going to Michigan in January.

The UIL was mad at 12-4A because of Marshall picking Rose Stadium for a State Championship game. As a result they decided to punish the district. They just don't like 12-4A. ---------lol I understand they basically take a map and string games together. FYI, Texas High would probably prefer to be in an eight team district so the pressure of finding non district games is eased. Finding 5 games for Texas High is difficult primarily due to location. But take solice that you are not in 7-4A. They have 11 teams and apparently play zone schedules.

The problem with most of the calls is the camera angle. I can think of two calls in the Texas/Tech game where there was not a definitive camera angle as to whether a player was out of bounds. The camera was from across the field versus down the line. Even if a camera was in the correct location, it probably would have been blocked by the officials that were in the correct position. Again I will give up replay to get the old clock rules back.

Replay is a bad invention in college ball. In my opinion it has made the field officials less decisive in their calls. It seems less than 15% of the calls are over turned as the evidence is not conclusive. It has not eliminated the controversy from the game. Therefore it has not accomplished its goal. I would gladly give up replay for the old time rules. Use the replay in the National Championship Game - nothing else.

TCU does not have a large enough fan following to warrant consideration in the BIG XII. TCU is averaging 33,626 at home. As bad as Colorado is they are averaging 47,634.

Last year each team picked a "home site". I don't think Tyler was "neutral" site.
