  1. Free tickets? Get real, my goal is a field pass!!!!!!!!!
  2. Didn't Texas High Frosh beat them or was it only the JV?
  3. THSfanatic, my orange colored glasses watched this pm and a THS receiver was coming into the screen as the ball bounced. The pass was ill advised but I think the officials made the right call. There were probably 4 NL players that had a better chance of catching the ball than the Texas High reciever. Norton thought it was a proper call (he doesn't have a vested interested though). RJ interested in your thoughts if Felty has a show. Maybe one of the TASO officials can explain "in the vicinity" on an intentional grounding. My eyes were the Texas High player was 5--7 yards beyond where the ball hit. The ball thrown was a wounded duck in the air. Not a typical Mallett pass. The NL safety was pretty easy to call. The QB was near the goal line (field side) and ball landed 1 to 2 yard in the endzone and went out the side of the endzone. So at best we are even in missed safety calls. Also Norton was very complementary of your coaches and team.
  4. I think they named everyone in 1A that had a touchdown this week -lol. The honorable mentions were 1/4 of a page. The Gazette is sure politically correct!!!!!!!!!
  5. I think they will both district races will have alot of drama and suspense. 12-4A may win the UIL one-act play for football drama. Competitive districts are alot mor fun for the fans. The coaches may grey though.
  6. It used to be that way with Arkansas High back in the day. Now they can be ranked #1 in their classification and get spanked. Heck if they keep it under 21 points they are likely to move up in the "combined poll". Since everyone has conceded 1st to Texas High, do they have to play? I personally think these will be one of the more interesting district races. SS over MP surprised me. I think it will be 5 weeks of unexpected results.
  7. I personally thought the waiving off the grounding call was correct. Texas High had a reciever cutting across the middle that Mallett was throwing. From my prespective Mallett did not have a good release on the ball and he drilled it in the ground unintentionally. I think the other officials overturned the call. Mallett because of the size of his hands has a tendency to let the ball stay in his hand. Of course on Fridays and Saturdays, I can be accused of having orange colored glasses.
  8. Congrats to Panthers on a solid game. Your kids had alot of fight. Best of luck the remainder of the season.
  9. Kinky is holding his base, but is not growing his base. The Black vote sees him as a biggot. Therefore the national media will not take a position on his candidacy. I don't think a moderate is a sign of weakness, if they feel strong in their middle ground beliefs. There are truths in both sides in the argument. The resolution is somewhere in the middle. The battle is the lean of the middle. Is it to the right or the left? Carol Keeton Rylander Strayhorn "known as Grandma in short" has angered me my using her Texas Comptroller website as a political tool. Also why didn't see wait for her "true love"? I sense a weakness in her. As much as I hate to say it, Perry will probably get my vote.
  10. I think you are right. Arkansas has similiar rules. They can play a game & a half a week.
  11. I am not positive, but I think the debate team is covered by the same rules.
  12. If the only way your kid can go to college, go for it. What do you have to lose? Just make sure if he doesn't get that scholarship, the school has a good vocational program. The purpose of school is to equip our kids with the tools they need to be a useful member of society. Personally academics are always a priority over extracirricular. By the way, I believe that is also the position of the UIL and TEA. You can transfer for academic, but not for athletic purposes without ramifications. The question is what is the "end game for your child". Personally I can not answer that question for you. In my own case, I had children that could have played college sports. Each chose to go to The University of their choice over a school that could not meet their academic needs and play athletics. Not sure how old your child is but their interests do change.
  13. If the educations are equal, fine! But moving for a game unless you are an elite athlete is not worth it. The chances of getting a scholarship is low. The chances of a scholarship at a top academic university is even less. Focus on the academic side first.
  14. Stadium seating deemed unsafe by engineers.
  15. Texas High jv and frosh teams are 6-0 on 22 game winning streak each.
  16. Isn't that 22 straight wins for each of the sub varsity teams?
  17. Those must be old numbers. I think he was listed at 225# as a junior. That was when folks were concerned his measurements were more of an offensive lineman's, He is definitely 250#. I question the size and weight of many a football player. Mallett's weight is real. He looks like an NFL tight end under center and is easily the tallest player on the field when he plays.
  18. Mt Pleasant supposed has a great pair. One problem - can't get the ball to them. I would have to go with Gilmer. Texas High has a nice corp.
  19. As Dione Warwick sang - "Walk On By" those schools. They can use the experts from the stands. lol
  20. US Population Clock Will probably occur this weekend. If momma is about due, its time to get some mexican food and see if you make Time magazine. 299,964,000 and counting at 10/12 2pm.
  21. I haven't checked, but it could have been the best stadium without conflicts or the other schools declined the use of their facilities.
  22. let me say this first i DON'T DO IT FOR THE MONEY!! mr bordertown have you seen some of my checks ...did not think so ......some school do no pay by the scale!! do you count season tickets? pre-sale tickets? or just the ticket sold that night at the gate? makes a BIG difference First I am a TASO official. My post was to explain why one school pays more. If schools are playing around with referee pay, the chapter should not cover their games. The term is "Gross" which includes all ticket sales. Look at the Playoff Game repost on how the gate is determined. I think if the chapter told a school they were not covering their games and they were going to have to get officials out of another chapter, the gamesmanship would cease. 50% of what I make goes to uniforms and equipment.
