  1. They've played three road games all year... Frisco Memorial - Awful team, meh. Tyler - One score game, almost blew a massive lead. Lufkin - One score game. I don't think we know how well they play on the road anymore than we know how good either one of them truly is tbh.
  2. A lot of people/teams want Longview to have a let down game. Better take your shot when we actually have one.
  3. All depends on the line. If it's where certain insiders have said things will be (6A line that is), as of the numbers I heard yesterday, we'd still be 5A D1. But ya know, who knows what we actually submit and what the line will be. We're the true definition of right on the line this go around imo. The closer we get to Friday, the more I think we'll stay 5A.
  4. And who has McKinney North blown out that wasn't one of the "weaker" teams in the district? Outside of West Mesquite, North has had one score games with everyone in their wins.
  5. I feel like we consistently struggle to get accurate tiebreaker information. I BELIEVE 17 points is the max point differential for our district (not that it really matters in this case). Right now, Lancaster is a +7, Lufkin is a -3, Tyler is a -4. If Tyler loses out, they're out no matter what happens in the Lufkin/Lancaster game because they already are behind both squads. If I remember correctly, the tiebreaker is just to eliminate teams out of the three way tiebreaker (could be wrong on that but that's what I remember...either about the 20/21 district or the 22/23 district). So if that's actually the case, Tyler would already be eliminated in a three way race and if Lufkin defeated Lancaster causing all teams to finish 3-4, Lufkin would go just with a win no matter the point amount. If that's not the case, then I still think Lufkin would need to win by 5 as both would be tied at +2...but Lufkin would still hold the head to head against LT. Just win by 6 to make it easier on everyone lol.
  6. Final standings in 15-5A: Hallsville 14-0 Longview 11-3 Whitehouse 10-4 Texas High 9-5 Tyler 5-9 Marshall 4-10 Pine Tree 1-13 Mount Pleasant 1-13 Final standings in 16-5A: Lufkin 9-1 Huntsville 7-3 Humble Kingwood Park 5-5 New Caney Porter 5-5 Dayton 4-6 Nacogdoches 0-10 Playoff Match Ups: Hallsville vs New Caney Porter/Humble Kingwood Park Longview vs Humble Kingwood Park/New Caney Porter Whitehouse vs Huntsville, 10/30, at Fairfield High Lufkin vs Texas High, 10/31, at Marshall High Can't find any info on if Porter/Kingwood Park are having to face off or not...or where. Hopefully more info soon.
  7. Eh, Longview should still win by multiple scores. Maybe not by 49 or something, but if we come to play, we win by at least 21.
  8. Full box score of Longview's 36-13 victory over McKinney North: https://www.lobohistory.com/blog/2023/week9boxscore.html
  9. Over in 16-5A: Lufkin is 8-1. Huntsville is 7-2. Dayton is 4-5. Humble Kingwood Park is 4-5. New Caney Porter is 4-5. Nacogdoches is 0-9. Lufkin ends the season against Nacogdoches. Huntsville faces New Caney Porter. Humble Kingwood Park faces off against Dayton. Unless New Caney Porter can upset Huntsville, am guessing it'll come down to whoever loses between Kingwood Park and Dayton in a district playoff against the Lady Spartans. Lufkin will finish top most likely, unless Nac pulls a big upset and forces a playoff between Lp and Huntsville. Huntsville should finish 2nd. So it'll come down to whoever wins between Dayton/Kingwood Park to finish 3rd. 4th, as stated above, will be between the loser of Dayton/Kingwood Park and New Caney Porter in a playoff game unless NCP can upset Huntsville.
  10. Friday's scores: Longview 3-1 over Marshall. Hallsville 3-0 over Pine Tree. Whitehouse 3-0 over Mount Pleasant. Texas High 3-0 over Tyler. Updated standings: Hallsville 13-0 Longview 10-3 Whitehouse 9-4 Texas High 8-5 Tyler 5-8 Marshall 4-9 Pine Tree 1-12 Mount Pleasant 1-12 Whitehouse closes out the season against Tyler, Longview takes on Pine Tree, Hallsville takes on Marshall and Texas High closes with Mount Pleasant. The playoff teams are set, just have to decide the full seeding. Hallsville will finish top spot no matter what, Longview could finish 2nd or 3rd, Whitehouse could finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th and Texas High can finish 3rd or 4th.

  12. West Mesquite and North Mesquite are done. Longview has clinched a spot and can clinch the #1 seed with a win on Friday. Forney and McKinney North will each have a chance to clinch a spot with a win on Friday against one another. Both just need one more win to get in. Lancaster needs to win their final two to get in, as well as have Tyler lose one more. With their win over Tyler, they’re in the best position for the final spot facing off against North Mesq and Lufkin to end the year. Tyler also needs to win out to get in. If they lose Friday, there’s a slight chance they can get in on points in a three way tiebreaker with Forney losing out and creating that 3 way with them, Tyler and Lancaster. If LT were to lose another, technically would get in with going 1-1 with a win vs Forney in final week and the Jackrabbits losing to McNorth. Lufkin could get back in there if Tyler loses out, Lancaster wins this week vs North Mesq, Lufkin wins this week vs West Mesq and then the Panthers beat Lancaster by a certain amount. If Lancaster loses this week vs North Mesq, then that three way tiebreaker scenario is out the window and Tyler would have the tiebreaker. It's going to be tough for Cujo to get in in all reality. Winning out clearly is the most wanted option. Getting in with Forney, Lancaster, themselves finishing 4-3 is really is the only true way I can see it actually happening. North Mesquite no doubt could throw a lot of things off with facing Lancaster and McKinney North next week, but sorry, those are just for sure wins for those programs.
  13. Shall get the full game thread up on Sunday night, or Monday morning. Have a wedding tomorrow so wanted to get thread up and going first.

Longview is 14-7-1 all-time against Tyler at Lobo Stadium (new), with the Lobos winning the last two meetings there. The Lobos have a 3-0-0 lead when the game is played on October 27th. That’s all that stands between the Longview Lobos and a program 42nd district championship. The Lobos moved to within one win of that district title following their 36-13 victory over the McKinney North Bulldogs. In the win, the Lobos were able to overcome a mini curse they’ve found themselves in with McKinney ISD Stadium. Longview had previously lost 23-21 to state ranked McKinney to open the season, after having already previously lost to the North Bulldogs back in 2021 at McKinney ISD, 37-35, in a massive upset that saw the Lobos turn the ball over five times in the loss. This week, the Lobos..behind Taylor Tatum and Kelvin Washington..rushed all over the Bulldogs, racking up over 300 yards rushing. It marked the fourth straight game the Lobos have rushed for over 274 yards. In the win, Taylor Tatum picked up two rushing scores…bringing him within one rushing tally of Kaden Meredith’s all-time rushing touchdown mark as a Lobo. Tatum continued his overall total touchdown mark with his 62nd and 63rd. Longview now turns to senior night against long time rival Tyler, in the 100th edition of the Lobos and Cujo facing off on the gridiron. The Lions come into the contest much improved from previously seasons, sitting at 6-2 on the year. However, the Lions do not control their own destiny in the playoff race with losses to McKinney North and Lancaster in the district race. Tyler will end the season with Longview and Forney. The Lobos come in having won their last six contests against Cujo, having given up only 17 points in the last four games combined. Dating back to Tyler’s last trip to the State Championship game back in 2000, the Lobos own a 17-3 record against their western rivals with Cujo last claiming a victory in 2016. However, all three of losses to Tyler came at Lobo Stadium. No team has been more successful against Longview at Lobo Stadium under head coach John King than Tyler’s Lions, registering a 3-5 record against the Lobos. However, for John King’s Lobos on senior night, Longview sports a perfect 19-0 record. The win over Tyler will give Longview their 16th district title in 20 seasons under John King, with only the 2012, 2017, 2020 and 2021 Lobos not being able to secure a district crown. Longview is currently on a 13-game district winning streak dating back to 2021. Longview and Tyler’s 100th meeting will be the second 100th meeting against a program in Lobo history, behind only Marshall. The two programs first met back in 1912, when Longview knocked off Tyler, 13-7. The two teams were set to meet in 1910, but the game was cancelled. Tyler controlled a 7-game series lead back in 1965, but since then the Lobos have completely overtaken the Lions in the overall series. Since 1966, Longview is 37-16-2 against Tyler, with only a 7-year stretch between 1994 and 2000 that saw the Lions truly dominate the Lobos (6-1 during that time for Tyler). 15. Not that shocking the way things have gone the last couple of years. It's been a slow progression, no doubt. But coaching change needs to happen sooner rather than later.
