  1. Just going with a hunch. Nothing more than they seem to have made a turn for the better at the right time. Like I said, I expect Koff to win but for some reason MV could be that game that sneaks up on them. No major reasons. My son does tell me that the Boone kid is legit for MV. That's all I got.
  2. Koff should win this one but for some reason I see MV making a game out of it.
  3. Guess that's the first upset of the year playoff wise. I never take LRA for granted. Tough opening draw for Hitchcock.
  4. How could I forget Daingerfield's most accomplished QB in Thomas Everett. I still say he scored against McGregor in 82.
  5. I had the luxury blocking for Anthony at Tech back in the day. Heck of an Athlete. Always liked how he switched from fullback to Tight End.
  6. Daingerfield's list would take up most of Smoaky's database. My favorites were David Mims(Baylor & NFL) simply because I blocked for him. Most feared was probably Tony Evans & Johnny King. But There are so many this is tough. Jimmy Morrow was as good as any. and on and on.
  7. As mentioned above twice. Tyler Boyd from Daingerfield QB'ed 3 State Championships as well. Daingerfield has had other great QB's as well. Hard not to mention Doug Pittman with the 83 team. Evans Brothers Jamie & Greg. I've not kept up with the recent QB's.
  8. Brock has a QB issue in my opinion. Sophomore is a better passer and makes better decisions. But Jr. QB is a coaches son. Gunter was better prepared and coached. Brock will get it turned around.
  9. I kept count as I reported the game to my family. I quit in the 2nd half. In my 53 years I've never seen that many in a game much less a half.
  10. Gunter was the best I've ever seen them and that's from someone who has watch them play against in State and Quaterfinals. I've been searching the world wide web for a box score. I had Brock at 9 or 10 unsportsmanlike penalties at half. I don't think I've ever seen that many in a game. Gunter is a well coached team. I need to find a way to watch Canadian and Gunter when that matchup happens. Congrats on a great win.
  11. Brock is better than last year. They have played toe to toe with the 4A boys that they will face next year. PG game they lost on a fumble. No fumble and they take a knee to end it. Wimberly owned them the first half and Brock showed great character to make it a game. Hirschi was better than I expected but couldn't handle Brock. Gunter is good but I think they lose this week. This week is going to go slow.
  12. Pep Rallies are great when done right. Go through the motion and the kids realize it quickly. Fortunately, all my kids schools have done a great job of them. I did hear recently that a new head coach said that the pep rallies were not for the football team and they wouldn't participate. That's about as un-American as it gets.
  13. added them to the list. That's the 13 that I thought there was.
  14. How could I forget him lol. Knew I was missing one. What about Keke Chism? did he make it on a team?
  15. Someone correct me or add to this list from Daingerfield. John Rodgers TE Pittsburg Steelers Superbowl Champion I think Gary Lewis TE Green Bay Packers (famous for blocking Field Goals) Darryl Lewis TE Cleveland Browns Thomas Everett Steelers, Cowboys, Bucs Superbowl Champion David Whitmore Giants, 49'er, Chief Superbowl Champion David Mims Falcons Denzel Mims Jets Greg Evans Redskins & Bills Eric Everett Vikings, Eagles, Bucs, and Chiefs Arthur Moore 49'ers Keyarris Garrett Jaguars David Mims Jr Atlanta Steve Edmond New Orleans I'm sure there are others just can't recall them right now.
  16. Your right I think. It was only 40 years ago lol.
  17. I just spent a good few minutes looking for the NFL players history. Use to be able to see this in the historical section. I'm sure it's just hard keeping up with that info. What brought this up is a conversation with my cousin who is an Aledo alum. I asked who was their most successful player. I was shocked at the lack of success at the higher levels. Being from Daingerfield I guess i'm just spoiled with that. Made me realize I haven't kept up with that info either as my kids grew. If anyone could fill in the blanks with whatever school you represent it is great information.
  18. 76 point favorite this week. Reminds me of back in the day with Daingerfield. Beat a district foe, Queen City, 72-0 and could have been much worse.
  19. 56 is the over/under. I'm going with the over.
  20. arrogance? I was simply replying to arrogance. Being from Daingerfield I understand their hype but they have blinders on if they think they are going to steamroll every team they play. This is just like when I predicted Daingerfield to beat Celina in the playoffs way back when.
  21. Great game. Bad fumble at the end of the game for Brock. Both defenses did amazing. Brock’s backup QB made a huge difference. Don’t know what in the world the Brock OC was doing with click management. Both teams will do quite well this year. Saw Jackson get rolled up on. Hope it’s not bad. #18 is a BEAST. About like I expected. No one handed anything.
