Yes they were good in little dribblers too. So it starts early. We will have the best player on the court this year but they have a bench full of really good players.
It starts teaching fundamentals but I assume a lot of community programs have little dribblers that just divide up and let the kids play. That is ok but I don’t think it actually adds to programs like MM, Lipan, or Nazareth. Just my take only.

Agree 100%. Only benefit is that it keeps kids engaged during the summer and can build confidence for some programs.
Yes sir. I think kids need to get away from football for awhile — play underwater polo, ride bulls in a rodeo, or go on a youth mission trip to help other kids. Life is not all about football, and I love the game.

I agree, youthful exuberance is a much needed quality at most programs.
I agree with the statement and might add that with that exuberance needs to be a maturity factor that can deal with little Johnny’s parents.

Yes, and last season we were arguably the second best team in 2A DI .... we are consistently ranked fairly high ....
No doubt about it!!

Clearly said AAD1. Don't avoid the question. If y'all were so dominant at 3A, where all these rings at in 2A. Surely little ole Timpson, Shelbyville and SA ain't been holding ya back from all these championships.
Kind of a Garrison fan here, Timpson, Sville, and SA are schools that sway with the pendulum, look at SA last few years. Garrison has and always will be tough hard nosed kids. Consistent 99% of the time .

Upside down don't do it justice.
As a follower of HS football for the last 40 years I hate this for the community. Good community and people and most of the kids. Patience and relationships are necessary. As a general rule the first person to follow a person who has been in a position as long as Chris was normally doesn’t have a long tenure- be it a pastor, supt, or any other high ranking position. As for HS football, they will be back.

Just let the kids be kids. Life is too short for a high school kid to try to be the “best” just to satisfy someone’s ego, coach or parent. Sounds cruel but it is what it is.

New coach doesn't matter. The one constant for 28 years without a NFC championship - the General Manager. Nothing will change until a real General Manager is hired and that is not going to happen.
Agree!!

This is the one that really gets me "We just wanted to go a different direction" It is such a ridiculous statement for someone to say when referring to firing a coach...and it usually blows up in the boards face!!!
I also like “ you just don’t have enough enthusiasm to coach here anymore” What a crock!!!!

Let’s hope that all these statements are over with between the HC’s and administrations and changes now will be because of realignments and bettering oneself. Just idle thought.

Ban 7 on 7 and soccer ....
I wish I knew the exact reply to this but I don’t. The uil is always tied to the money thing so 7-7 is probably here to stay. Getting the skilled kids ready for the spread offense has to be one objective which heightens their chance of scholarships which in turn is tied to the NIL. Personally in today’s “equality and fairness.” world this is only fair for a select few- not the whole team. I don’t care for 7-7 for this reason but I would not stand in the way of a kid bettering himself.

I would say there is definitely more here than just a 2-8 record.
There was definitely a "disconnect" between coaches and players.
Level of talent did not equal level of production.
Sometimes things just are not a good fit. Good for him if he recognizes it after just one year. Usually turns out better for everyone involved.

Going north???

Some of the playoff team’s record isn’t posted but I quit counting at 42 teams that had 3-7,2-8 records- or worse. Tornillo at 0-9 had already forfeited. To me the UIL should carry some of the blame but hey, I am good with any of it. Let the kids play.

Yep yep yep. You aren't the first guy to get abrasive on here. I for one appreciate you being here and I value your opinion. I gots thick skin and don't hold grudges. If you ever wants to hug it out Trueblue82 and Kirt is right down the road!
Funny thing is— I am not an abrasive type person, I just do that for fun on here.

Sometimes in life you have to realize that not all things are taken as you intended or as wish they were. After being confronted about a couple of things and reflecting over the last week , I have been made aware of things I have posted. People who know me know that I say a lot of things “tongue in cheek “. I posted some things in that manner and also posted things just to get a rise out of fellow posters. I am sorry they were not taken that way. From now on I will not be posting any negative comments about any offense or of any nature. I surely did not intend to make things sound like I was belittling a coach as a person. A coach’s decision for his team is just that- his decision. Once again my apologies and only positive comments from now on. Good bless yall and have a great week coming up.

Serious Question about Basketball Stall
in High School Sports
Posted
Do teams not run any type of stall in basketball now. Looks like to me that could come in handy in tight games. I mean 108-30?
