Not drunk mind you... my reply was simply...the refs let stuff go from both sides...pass interference before half...holding by both lines all game...illegal blocks below the waist...he mentioned the offsides versus illegal procedures penalty...I asked if that cost as much as the sportsmanship penalty on the coaches?? He walked away muttering cuss words....

That archaic offense is what makes palestine dangerous! You give athletes a chance to control the clock and break at any moment. You obviously never wat he'd palestine run the spread...they were terrible at it...Angel has them in a good place believing that they can do anything....I've seen years when they were in tge spread losing big to far inferior athletes because of the me syndrome...get me the ball...it is all about perspective I guess

you run what you run for 2 reasons....you know it and have complete faith in it...or... you have the chuckys and joes to execute ....long time coaching i have seen success and failure from both of these...same goes on defense...heard w.t. johnson speak about trying different defenses but went back to what he knew in the diamond 7...had a lot of success....if you as a coach are capable of convincing your players that you can have success with the flexbone then by all means do it!! i think too many people jump on the spread traIN anyway cuz it looks like you can make it fit any type kid....wrong answer...

discounting the offense ...it has its merits...but of the colleges you named, how many have played for a title? how many state champs above 3a running that ? amarillo tascosa ran it year before last to the finals ...if you only see the offense once every blue moon it is hard to prepare for but it is possible to slow it down and beat.

Guys, this is a no win situationi for Castles.....if he schedules carthage and wins the whole town will smoke him and say finally !!! if he schedules and loses the whole town will be asking why in the h### he scheduled them again....i hate it because of the rivalry but i get it...henderson aint the only team that turned their head when carthage asked for a game....just sayin

the new plastic buckles/snaps are responsible for most of the helmets coming off in my experience....never had a kid get a concussion from his helmet coming off in 20 years....think back when the buckles were primarily metal ,this was not a problem....sometimes we outsmart ourselves to make things "better"

"IMO, for the betterment of the entire athletic program, it would be best if the AD was not a coach at all. He should simply be an administrator of athletics. However, it's hard to get the best coaches without being able to offer the higher salaries that comes with being AD/HC. And many smaller schools would never be able to afford to have just an AD. " makes perfect sense to get someone not in sports at all to be over all sports... kind of like getting a bakery owner to run an oil company.....absurd to think with all of the rules and uil requirements to keep up with that you put someone with no knowledge of that in such a position...i did not declare that it should be a football coach but it should be someone that understands all sports to some extent

why would baker leave the nest on the ground he has????? he has a good staff access to what he needs and is able to compete year end out with what he has where he is.....

john jones went to katy mayde creek - had been in the area previously and he and his family wanted to get back to that area.... he is a friend of mine.... to my knowledge yes he did have more straight basketball guys carthage is not alone here many places have seen a decline in basketball skill and playing in the last several years i was a basketball coaches son and have watched more games than i care to count skill level is declining kids dont play as much as they used to and they tend to gravitate to a program that is winning cause it is the hot place to be ergo football/baseball in carthage.... longview-football, even small schools... are seeing a shift....i have seen the shift even at the state tourney
