  1. What were Calhoun's stats on the year?
  2. Not to my knowledge. I'm not ready to give up on Coach Pennington entirely, personally. The man loves Van, and I think he will do whatever it takes to win. Also, I just learned that he has some really dramatic things going on in his life currently...let's all ease up a little bit (self-inclusive).
  3. Maybe that's because we had...let's see here...potentially four division one caliber backs in Pennington the Elder, Crawford, Calhoun, and Hayes and we DID NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. We had more weapons in our backfield than Saddam Hussein had in Iraq, but because our play calls consisted of "run right", "run left", "run up the middle", and "humor the people who claim that we need to pass more often" we got shafted. Call me out on whatever you'd like, I'll fight tooth and nail with you. The reason the spread failed with Coach Neal was because we did not have the athletes to run it effectively. Now, we have no excuse NOT to run a more versatile offensive system. The team that we fronted this year was, to my understanding, the fastest one to come from Van in quite some time. The Power-I was our saviour after Coach Neal's departure. It was the best possible option with the athletes that we had at the time, and it was a fresh look for opposing teams. We've been running that same scheme for five years now. Don't get me wrong, I could care less who coached the team as long as results are shown. If Suzanne Braly was at the reigns and we went three rounds deep, I'd move to have her Sainted. We're indebted to Coach Pennington for pulling us out of the hole that Coach Neal dug...but who will pull us out of the one we're in now? Hopefully Coach Pennington plug up the holes in the sinking ship. (edits made for clarity and respect)
  4. I heard the entirety of Celina's line (even the subs) is being recruited to play D1 WR because of their 4.3 speeds. Sorry, but 4.4 just isn't giving them enough credit. Good luck to Canton from a *gasp* Van alum.
  5. Dude get ur facts striaght before u mouth they beat athens by alot and yea they did lose to bullard but who won the van canton game??? Who's in the playoffs??? How's the round ball going over in van anyways...:w00t: hahahahaha. you sir, win at the internet.
  6. When Jason McWilliams (of Canton) got bulldozed by Lennon Creer last year in the playoffs. That was brutal.
  7. hahahaha....but no word on whether they're off the team or not. man, if i never need to kill someone, i'm going to sign up for the football team first, that way i can get community service.
  8. Personally, and as a former high school athlete, I'm sick of seeing the rules bent and twisted for athletic purposes. Sure, they don't *have* to punish them, but here's a question: If the offense was committed by the resident troublemaker who comes to school drunk and rarely shows up for class, would we even be having this discussion? No. Charges would have been filed and followed up on, and whoever the kid was would be in a juvenile facility for a stint. We all know it happens.
  9. I'm not entirely sure how large of a difference there is between a female kicker and say....Martin or Bill Gramatica, two highly successful NFL kickers. Both of those guys are easily within the range of a female's body type. I'm still trying to figure out why a coach would be so terribly concerned about having a female kicker. I would completely understand your point if she ran a 4.2 and she wanted to play tailback, because there could be durability issues there. However, the girl is a kicker. She runs onto the field for one play, either puts it through the uprights or botches it, then runs off. End of story. If the Gramatica brothers can survive hits from the biggest, strongest, and meanest players in the world, then I'd say a girl could handle a few high school hits...even if they are a powerhouse.
