  3. Lady Dragons lost 74 to 21. They just couldn't handle the press. It was 25 to 2 at the end of the 1st quarter. Congrats to the Lady Dragons on a great season. They were the 4th Lady Dragon team to make the Regional Tournament.
  4. Word this morning is that the Shelbyville boys will play West Sabine a 71 to 38 winner over West Hardin last night in Joaquin Friday night at 6:30. The Shelbyville girls will play state ranked La Poynor (32W 2L) Friday night in Jewett at Leon High School in the Class 2A Region 3 regional tournament.

  8. The Shelbyville Lady Dragons won the Bidistrict game against Overton by a score of 59-42. The Lady Dragons will play Broaddus Friday at 7:30 pm in Hemphill for the Area round.
  9. Any word yet on who, where, and when for the girl's playoff games?
  10. There was no way that the Dragon players could be mentally ready for the game with a new quarterback and knowing all week that Burrell was not going to play.
  11. Ore City runs several different versions of the spread offense but doesn't have the overall team speed that West Sabine and San Augustine have. Their quarterback does do a good job on his reads. Ore City is led on offense by #2 Senior runningback Demontrea Neal who has about 1400 yards rushing on the year. He'll probably remind Shelbyville folks of their running back of several years ago Justin Brown. #3 Junior quarterback Colton Allhouse has rushed for about 900 yards and passed for about 1100 yards on the year. Top receivers are #11 Matt Casey a 5-9 Senior, #23 Junior Darren Bowens and #10 Sophmore Nick Hughes each with around 15 to 20 catches on the year.
  12. I looked the stats of the Garrison game up and for the night passing Garrison was 6 of 14 for 57 yards and 2 Int. I've seen San Augustine play this year against both Garrison and Beckville and I've seen Shelbyville play against Garrison and Beckville. Here's how I see both teams. San Augustine's passing is 75% of their offense. Jamikel Roberts can hurt you with both his arm and his feet. Ty'rae Johnson is possibly the best receiver and most dangerous threat after he catches the ball that I've seen all year. He can turn the 3 yard slant into 60 yards real quick. The Rodger kid is only a sophmore but he's starting to catch the ball. They are at their best in the hurry up offense. San Augustine is going to score against the Shelbyville defense and at the same time the speed and hustle of the Shelbyville defense will create some turnovers during the game. Shelbyville will wear down the San Augustine defense with their running game and become difficult to stop in the second and fourth quarters but will have a difficult time breaking the long run against the speed of San Augustine's DB's.Their passing attack is sneaky. Their tight end Qay Mallard can catch the ball and is tough to bring down after he does. Stanberry and Jenkins out of the backfield also have good hands. I see it Shelbyville 46 San Augustine 34

  18. Baseball America ranked Twine the No. 138 prospect in the draft, while MLB.com placed him at No. 161. They note he has excellent speed (which is no surprise, given his background), but scouts aren’t sold on his hitting ability, particularly his ability to hit secondary pitches. He also may eventually have to move to center field.
  19. The Marlins have signed second-round pick Justin Twine for the bonus pool value of $1.316MM, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports . Miami selected Twine, a Texas high school shortstop (and also an outstanding high school running back), with the No. 43 overall pick. He was committed to TCU.
