Non district for Kilgore is one of the toughest I can remember in a long time for East Texas 4A ball. Chapel Hills non district is extremely tough as well

just come out healthy and show you can compete....we will get punched in the mouth early but if/when the guys start throwing blows back and fighting is when you know you got something...

  2. Kilgore will have to lean on the defense early on in the season....offense will probably struggle early as we lost the entire offensive line and QB along with having arguably one of the toughest non-district schedules in the state to break in the new guys (Carthage, Whitehouse, Gilmer, PG)....but, with that being said, I truly believe Brooks is more than capable of leading the offense at QB...especially, after what I seen him do after being thrown in the fire against Needville last year in the 3rd round....as for the Oline I have been in Kilgore my whole life and there has not been many times I thought to myself, our Oline is terrible...that's something along with RB's Kilgore has always figured out and done pretty well at replacing!!...I think I'm just more excited to see who the new guys will be and also, to watch some of our defensive studs grow even more and continue causing problems for opposing teams ;)

To be fair, the reporter is who asked the question about the SC.  The coach just gave an honest answer, which seemed to be on par with what any coach would say.  I don’t think this team is looking past CH.  I think they are new to the situation and don’t know what to think right now.  They have had the best year in school history this season.  The kids may not fully understand the place they are right now, because they have never been there before.  That’s not necessarily a negative or a positive.

CH has been here twice in as many years and has incredible motivation to get over this hump, but sometimes that type of monkey on your back can work against you mentally.

getting that monkey off your back is hard to do...just ask Kilgore😉...Chapel Hill may be by far the more talented and experienced team in this game and I think they get it done...but Davenport not having experience in this round can also sometimes be pretty scary...the players may not truly recognize the magnitude of the game and it work in their favor...they have nothing to lose and may not feel the pressure to win this game...that's on Chapel Hill who has let it slip away twice already

Those CH guys on NETSN are reaching bad they said CH lost on purpose because they knew they weren't going to beat Kilgore by more than 14 points. So they gave up to get 3rd. place in district and supposedly CH saw everything Kilgore has to offer and Kilgore didn't see everything what CH had to offer. How in heck does that even sound believable whatever people gotta tell themselves to sleep at night I guess.

they also said they done seen Kilgore's best shot...heck we had 3 missed XP's...fumbled inside the 30 yd line (led to TD) and then snapped a ball over punters to give them the ball at the 1 (led to TD)....and had starting DL get ejected...but that was Kilgore's best shot..???

Really putting a lot of words/thoughts into a simple post about the lop sided poll.  The comment I made has nothing to do with the team’s motivation.  You drew that conclusion on your own.

My point was only that CH is perfectly okay with being the underdog.  They were last week against IC and against Kilgore the first meeting.  Worked out one of those and didn’t work out on the other.  This group of kids has been “favorites” plenty of times, but they’ve also been “underdogs” several times over the last 3 seasons and they don’t seem to play timid in those games.

you can call yourselves underdogs, favorites or whatever...it's all irrelevant....it's the mindset/execution of the players that matters...what you or I or anyone else thinks doesn't matter.....but honestly, Kilgore is the underdogs we are the one's whose season ended to Chapel Hill 2 years in a row!!...either way it all makes for an exciting game

They may not look at a forum poll, but they do look at stuff like this…IMG_1917.jpeg

I'm not saying they don't see this stuff...I'm saying a team shouldn't need to see this to get motivation for this game....motivation should come from the opponent or game they are facing that week...having the opportunity to play in the 4th round of the playoffs "should" be all the motivation needed...you've earned it.....yeah, it's nice to see these experts think highly of Kilgore as they did Chapel Hill earlier in the year ranking them #1 in 4A for most of the year...but that doesn't win anything you have to earn it every week...Kilgore beat Chapel Hill earlier for the District Championship which was icing on the cake....but, honestly I truly believe this team wants more.....winning district is nice but not the ultimate goal...finding a way to beat the team that has ended your season 2 years in a row with hopes of playing for a State Championship is!!!...that's why I truly believe Kilgore will have all the motivation they need in this one..

Ill eat my crow if necessary..... But I think you will see this Friday, we have more than 2 weapons.  You just didn't get to see them the last time Kilgore and CH played.

???...let me guess ya'll were holding them for this game instead....been hiding them this whole time and now, boom lets surprise Kilgore with these guys...lol....Kilgore knows what Chapel Hill has to offer on both sides of the ball...athletes everywhere no argument there....the problem is your execution against the opponent...so, you have had success the last 3 weeks on defense but, that was against LCM, EC, and IC.....my question is what adjustments will Chapel Hill make (especially on the line of scrimmage) to give themselves the opportunity to have these "hidden" gems change this game...????...if Kilgore controls the line of scrimmage Chapel Hill is going to have a long night!!....again, I'm not saying by any means Chapel can't win the game...they are very talented and more than capable...

That’s correct.  I also believe that it wasn’t in the 4th round.

it was the 4th round...Lindale played LBJ the next week and beat them to go to State Championship....2 years ago Chapel Hill played Kilgore in the 3rd round at the Rose and beat them in double OT 41 -35....Chapel Hill Hill played LCM the next week and beat them to play LBJ in the semis

What was the deal just sloppy ball carrying?

3 Int's....one was was underthrown by couple yards that would been a Kilgore TD was picked at like the 5...one was overthrown bad and the last one was a scramble that he just tried to force down field...Kilgore also fumbled two Kickoffs that gave the ball to BC inside our 30yd line both times...both led to TD's....lucky to get out with a W...teams who turn it over 5 times don't usually win those games...🤷‍♂️..is what it is...learn and move on....Defense played well though...BC only had 207 yds total offense...

Yes, Kilgore trailed Gilmer for the majority of the game, if memory serves.  We were up 17-7 about midway through the 4th quarter, and 23-17 before that final drive with under 2 minutes by Kilgore.

Actually game was tied 7-7 all the way until 6 min left in the game... then Gilmer kicked a FG to go up 10-7....then Gilmer tacked on a td with like 4 min left to go up 17-7.... and thennnnnn all hell broke loose for the next 3 min or so
