What really makes me sad is that all this takes away from the kiddos accomplishments from PNG and SOC. SOC is an amazing program and I take my hat off to them for their accomplishment's over the last three years. Coach Todd is a great coach and is well deserving of all of his accolades. I respected him last year when we lost to them the same as I do with a win over them. Great kids, and great coaching. With PN-G having so many underclassmen back maybe we can play them again. I know the task is so very hard and percentage wise very small, I still think it would be neat. PN-G lost their starting QB during week 3 and a 10th grader led us to the SC. The starting QB made it back for the first game of the playoffs and played WR, RB, HB, Safety, and other positions. He is the player who ran in the winning TD for PNG. PNG is loaded for next season with many many returning starters. This was a young team this season. The Indians whole o line is back minus 1 lineman. 2 of the 3 d linemen are back and that number 4 mentioned above is back as well. The leading receiver is back and the QB 2 more years. Two of PNGs linemen have power 5 offers and one is a junior 6'5" 315lbs, while one is a soph 6'5" 295 lbs. We have them back 1 and 2 more seasons respectively. PNGs JV gave up 10 PPG for the season as well. I look for PNG to be competitive next season.

I knew when Shea came back from his injury it would put PN-G over the top. He added another dangerous dimension to an already explosive offense with Reed and Nunley. When you add Isaiah and Blair to the mix the Indians were going to be hard to beat. SOC overall did a really good job of containing the run game in the 1st half. Coach Joseph was patient taking the points he could get with the field goals. When they kicked the FG to go to 12 points I thought it was a mistake but then he called the onside kick. If PN-G  would've gone for it on 4th down and not made it instead of taking the FG I don't think the Indians win the game. Big-time calls on a big stage.

Don’t even know which official SOC has filed the grievance over, so I can’t say anything about said official

I will ask you this - if the Bellville and Gilmer game had 7 officials who all  grew up in Gilmer and/or live in Gilmer now, would you be okay with that ?
If you answer “no” are you saying they would not have been professional ?

This was not the case in Saturday's game. The officials were supposedly from the Houston chapter. Supposedly one of those was from Groves. I say supposedly because that's what people are saying. They also said it was the official from Groves that made the PI call.

I believe both teams have to approve the officials before the game. I would think that crews are chosen based on how they do throughout the year.

After yesterday’s showing, we felt it was a no-brainer to go all PN-G on today’s front page. Make sure to drop by the newsstands outside our office in downtown Beaumont or a number of grocery and convenience stores across Southeast Texas to preserve your own piece of this historic win.

No. If you recorded it like I and watched the play the receiver initiated the first contact, trying to get separation. Ball was not in the air yet so offensive or defensive interference could not have happened. The the defensive back held his ground but but there was still a little separation then the defensive back, made up the ground and knocked it down. Was a horrible call that should’ve not been made. Port Neches Grove has to worry about people talking about this call. Who knows they could’ve scored a TD on fourth down but now a lot of people will say they won because of that call. it was like the official waited to see if receiver, caught the ball when he didn’t he called interference if he called holding then that’s something different should’ve stayed in his pocket.

I'm pretty sure no one associated w PN-G will feel guilty or lose sleep over any call made.

Bottom line is there will be those who agree and those who not. There are those who believe that the refs shouldn't decide a game (as they see it) but if there is a no call on PI then aren't the refs deciding the game? Refs need to do their jobs no matter what part of the game it is. PI is PI as is holding is holding. In the other games the refs were throwing flags on the teams running the Slot T offense for not getting set before the snap. I would bet everything that in those teams other games this year the refs didn't throw that many flags on them.

I can promise you there was no one in purple going home feeling bad about getting those calls.

Oh they played good enough, but it's hard beating a good team and a ref. So I could care less how ya feel or your lack of tears. If you think that was a good call, then I don't know what to say bout ya. ✌🏾

You sound like the SOC fan that yelled at me as I was walking out that I shouldn't celebrate because SOC was cheated. I was just walking with my grandson. Of course my shirt gave it away who I was cheering for.

I wished we could have gotten a panoramic view of the PI play.  There had to be some hand checking and such going on before the camera view we saw to draw the flag.  Defensive holding would have still given PNG a 1st & goal.

He was holding the receiver before the break. I'm a little bias but it and the offsides were good calls. I questioned some of the holding calls against SOC but there were also ones not called.

How does everyone feel with the format of having the Division 1 games first and earlier in the day as opposed to the D2 games first and having the bigger classification be the night caps? Just curious

It's fair especially for those schools driving the longer distance and having to play the 11am game. Well that's if they are coming in back to back years. I would think the 11am game would be the toughest.

SE Texas + NE Texas = East Texas, unless my math is wrong.

However, when most(?) of us visualize East Texas, what we really "see", in our own little world, is NE Texas.

Go ask folks in PN-G or maybe even Lufkin and the geography would probably be flipped and they would claim to be the "real" East Texas and us pretenders are really from NE Texas.

Actually,  no they don't think that.  They have more of an appreciation of all teams and definitely know geography.
