You have to look at the schedule... Newton, Kirbyville, Rusk, have had good runs this past few years...
Honestly, I see them going maybe three rounds deep....
Howeva, it is WAY too early to tell....
I watched Pewitt role over Jefferson last year and i was a little suprised... I dont think they should be ranked #2 after going 4-6 last season but there were alot of let downs in the rankings. They will have talent over the smaller 2a's but people under estimate this classifaction. I think that Jefferson NB Tatum and D'field will have it alot tougher time than most people anticipate...thats why im ready for August! :happy65:
waskoms pnly weakness on the line is size...The biggest kid will be around 6 ft 260 pounds but the kids usually get after it and have suprised me a few times with their abilitly to hustle downfield and get a cut on a linebacker or a charging safety.:smileybanger:
New defensive coordinator...defense will be a different story.
Eizek is right...I saw West Rusk last year and they have some talent and probaly would contend in most other districts but in next years 19aa, only the elite will make the playoffs. i think that the teams that make it to the playoffs out of this district will go at least 2 or 3 rounds deep. Possibly a Division 1 state champ and maybe a Div 2 contender for the title. This district is so tough the first and second round could be like a vacation compared to disrtict play...:whome:
that arkansas team that beat them last year was nationally ranked wasnt it?
Yea it was Springdale...they started the preseason ranked #2 in the country. Evangel got killed but Springdale was great. Id say Evangel now is about equal to maybe last years Marshall. of course i only saw one game so maybe the Springdales talent was able to embarass them that much...:banging:
1 Tatum
2Troup
3Waskom
4Garrison
5Arp
6Ef
7Timpson
8West Rusk
Tough district and the race for second and third between troup, waskom, arp, garrison, and Ef should be very close...:hmmm:
Yea Pewitt was on its way to a big school spot until waskom slipped late in the season...I was at the Waskom Hughes springs game last year and it probaly shouldve been the other way around. Waskom was at the hard end of the luck of the draw. Anything that could have been called or gone wrong DID! Look for both teams to be strong in their districts this year...;)
I know the matchup is seriously unfair but the Waskom karnack game 2005...Waskom 74 Karnack 0. Karnack had only 27 yrds of total offense with 26 of them coming on their only first down of the game. Waskom rushed for 500 and held the ball for about 30 of the 48 minutes.
Pewitt has athletes but this year will be alot different from last year.Without Harrison and Williams the Brahmas were a 7-3 team probaly last year. This year is no different. I see them going 7-3 or 6-4 and with 4 loses you miss the playoffs in that district. The tatum district is by far the toughest in texas. I think that the teams that go to the playoffs will be Tatum 9-1...Waskom 9-1...Troup 8-2. Tatum is the favorite to win it all in 06 but i dont think their championship run will be perfect...
Slapphappy is right...many good teams in this district and EVERY team has the mark on Tatum. Its a classic underdog story...No one expects anyone to beat Tatum but thats why you play the game. I am the first to tell you the team with the most talent is not always the team that comes out on top. Dont get me wrong, Tatum prolly wins the district but someone will sneak up and hand them a loss in this tough district. My pick...Troup or Waskom. Both are hard nosed football teams with great coaching.
Celina was very tough last year...one of the best teams ive ever seen! Im not saying a blowout between Tatum and Celina last year but i think Celina's mentality and ability to win games late pushes them ahead of tatum last year. but a great game...i would have liked to have seen it happen...i think that Tatum will have the best chance to win state this year with all the talent they have coming back but i think there are a few teams that could hurt them if they are not careful. newton and New boston, being two in mind. not to mention that Troup Garrison and Waskom are capable of a upset within Taums district...
I know some kids who played against pewitt and i watched a few of their games...This kid was a pretty good athlete, But like a joke a heard from a friend the other day..."If your not 6' 5" 320 and bench a small cow, its tough to make it in D1"
If this is district 19aa's bi-district next year there will be some great first round playoff games.Tatum...Garrison...troup..Arp...EF...Waskom. I think other then Tatum these six teams will be in a dog fight for the playoffs and most of these teams match up for some good games in the first round. In all sports...
