Best 3a Division1 R2 Teams
jayd3nb posted a topic in High School SportsI'm interested to see what everyone's thoughts are. Malakoff and Pottsboro are the teams to beat right now. Sabine is looking really good. D7 is getting dicey, and I think all 5 teams could make a run. I think Hooks is the dark horse in the region.

Atlanta, Tatum, and Gladewater 3A next year?
BigBoyRabbit03 posted a topic in UIL RealignmentAtlanta, Tatum, and Gladewater dropping could be very tough to stop these young studs. Will they make some deep runs next couple years? I think they will be top contenders the next few years!
UPSHUR COUNTY FOOTBALL HAVING ITSELF A YEAR
BlackFlagGBuX posted a topic in High School SportsNobody is perfect but no one wants to see any of these teams in the playoffs. I think they all deserve a little pat on the back especially the Union Hill Bulldogs who are giving up an average of 10 points a game but in reality they just had two close ones where as they surrendered a touchdown or less in most of their games. Gilmer BUCKEYES 8-1 Union Hill Bulldogs 8-1 Gladewater Bears 7-1 Harmony Eagles 7-2 Big Sandy Wildcats 7-2 Union Grove Lions 6-2 These other teams get recognition a lot but just WoW this county is getting it done!!

IMHO: Gilmer and Chapel Hill are favorites in the boys to win district. Bullard and Spring Hill probably lead the girls. Post 'Em all season long Good Luck!
The first time this has happened...?
Cowbells posted a topic in High School SportsI could be wrong about this but I think it's the first time Gilmer, Gladewater, and Union Grove are district champions in the same season. All being close on 271 is pretty cool. Their combined records were 29-1. Some good ball being played on that stretch of road. Congratulations to the teams. Good luck in the playoffs.
Union Grove at Carlisle
Mr. P posted a topic in High School SportsWell, I can't believe this hasn't already posted (and I can't believe I gotta be the one to start the conversation), but what about Union Grove and Carlisle, y'all? I'm reading a lot about Union Grove returning to the postseason, and maybe even playing for a district title, but nobody saying squat about the Indians of Price-Carlisle? Yeah sure, they're replacing some guys but it's not as though they've completely forgotten how to play football out there. I'm taking the fightin' Rocky Bakers in this'n. I say they roll 'em up from start to finish. Carlisle pumps the brakes late, and the Lions sneak a coupla scores against the 2s, but the outcome of this game is never in doubt. Indians win 38-14.
