  1. 2024-2026 UIL REALIGNMENT DAY finds a couple new schools added to last realignment's District 11: Grapeland & Lovelady. We lose Carlisle who bumped back up to D1. District 11-2A (D2): Alto Cushing Grapeland Lovelady Mount Enterprise Overton Tenaha Should be a competitive district! Maybe only second to District 10.....in Region 3 anyway. When you look at the map, seems the UIL got East Texas right.
  2. The Alto Yellowjackets will host the Tenaha Tigers at Cam'ron Matthews Field at Jacket Stadium Friday; kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. Tenaha returns 20 lettermen with 4 lost to graduation; they have 8 starters back on offense while 9 return on defense. The Tigers began district play with a win over Carlisle last Friday; the Jackets fell to Mount Enterprise for the first time ever. The Alto-Tenaha series goes all the way back to 1929 but have only actually played a total of 15 times with Alto leading 10-5. The Jackets have started the last two games with 14-0 leads but have not managed to finish; young group trying to find their way. My father-in-law always says the next best thing to playing and winning is playing and losing. (Used to tell my son that when he’d lose…not sure it ever made him feel any better! ) Wise words but dang the winning is a lot more fun! Lol ALTO VS. 3. The Alto Yellowjackets travel to Tenaha this Saturday to take on the Tigers. It’s Tenaha’s homecoming and kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. The Jackets and Tigers go way back….to 1929….but have only played 14 times! It was 2015 the last time these two met, a 52-7 Alto win at home; Alto leads the series 10-4. The Jackets defeated Mount Enterprise on Friday 46-34 struggling a bit defensively while the Tigers were blanked by Carlisle 48-0. Tenaha started the season 2-0 but has lost an uncharacteristic 4 in a row. Their 13-game district win streak was snapped by the Indians and this is the first time since 2019 the Tigers have lost 4 in a row. Schedules and results for the 2022 season thus far: Shelbyville 48 - Alto 44 Alto 48 - West Sabine 22 Alto 22 - San Augustine 8 Garrison 28 - Alto 20 Alto 32 - Groveton 20 Alto 46 - Mount Enterprise 34 Tenaha 50 - West Sabine 38 Tenaha 12 - San Augustine 6 (OT) Joaquin 56 - Tenaha 6 Arp 66 - Tenaha 51 Dekalb 65 - Tenaha 14 Carlisle 48 - Tenaha 0 ALTO-TENAHA SERIES All-Time Record for Alto: 602 wins | 383 losses | 34 ties | 1,019 total games All-Time Record for Tenaha: 535 wins | 416 losses | 37 ties | 988 total games All-Time Series Record: Alto - 10 wins | Tenaha - 4 wins Alto’s longest winning streak vs. Tenaha: 6 wins in a row (1930-1938) Tenaha’s longest winning streak vs. Alto: No streak Current streak: Alto 2 wins in a row (2014 - now) Do the Jackets go 3 in a row or do the Tigers get back to their winning ways making the homecoming crowd happy?

  7. How's your team looking? Which teams do you think are gonna come out on top of this district? Any darkhorses that can defy expectations? What do y'all think?
  8. This should be an exciting district. I'm interested to see how Tenaha's QB progresses this year, and how Therwhanger does at Timpson. Loads of talent, can he turn them into a powerhouse similar to the way he did Lovelady? Strange to see Wortham and Tenaha in the same district.
  9. Two teams that have played in fits and starts all season... with Tenaha clinching district last week, Maud and Overton are fighting for who plays who in the postseason. 3-0 Tenaha 2-1 Overton 2-2 Timpson 1-2 Maud 0-3 Mount E. 0-4 Fruitvale Hmm, do three teams go into the postseason, or four? Because at 1-2, Maud is on the outside looking in. If they win, that's a three-way tie for second but I'm not sure how the tire-breaker would work. That would mean they beat Overton, who beat Timpson, who beat Maud, who beat Overton, who beat Timpson, who beat Maud, who beat... With a win, Overton would finish second in 11-2A and likely face Evadale in bi-district. Man, I'm not sure what'd be a neutral site for that game... Lufkin? Maud had a pretty hot start, so I don't know what happened against Timpson, but I reckon we'll have to score more than 9 points to beat them. Plus, I don't think this one's gonna come down to a last-second field goal. If Overton leads late, they'll run out the clock. If Maud leads late, they'll probably try to run it up for the sake of playoff calculations (I know I would). The Cards are usually tough at home (3-0 this season), so the Mustangs are gonna have to grab some momentum early to offset the homefield advantage. Can they do it? We'll see...
  10. Who wins the district and what order will the playoff teams be seeded? Maud Cardinals Mt Enterprise Wildcats Overton Mustangs Tenaha Tigers Timpson Bears
  11. So here it is: Fruitvale Maud Mount Enterprise Overton Tenaha Timpson I know almost nothing about Fruitvale, except that they're a former six-man school. Timpson and Maud are pretty tough year-in and year-out, Overton and Mount Enterprise should enjoy a rather spirited Rusk County rivalry (it's been too long since these neighbors have played). Tenaha is the obvious favorite in this district, but they shouldn't expect anyone to lay down for them. Thoughts?
  12. Who do you think wins this district, boys and girls?
  13. I've got us (Overton) in a district looking like this: District ?- 2A Division II Overton (152) Tenaha (142) Timpson (147) Mount E (102) What about y'all? What sort of district do you see your former-1A now-2A school landing in?
  14. Frost vs. Overton Class 1A, Division II Bi-District Playoff 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in Palestine
