The Alto Yellowjackets host the Cushing Bearkats Friday, October 26 at Cam’Ron Mathews Field at Jacket Stadium. It’s Senior Night! The Mean Sting and the Bearkats share a loss to the district leading and state-ranked Carlisle Indians. Both teams enter this game 1-1 in district with the Jackets defeating Big Sandy and Cushing defeating Hawkins for their first district win since 2011. Cushing has momentum, and Alto is looking to rebound. Who goes to 2-1?

The Alto Yellowjackets (4-2 | 1-0) travel to undefeated and state ranked Carlisle (6-0 | 1-0) to take on the Indians in a key District 10-2A contest. The winner has a leg up in the district championship race. The Mean Sting squeaked by the Indians 31-28 last year while Carlisle defeated the Jackets 28-7 the year before. Both teams are battle tested this season. Should be a fun game!

Time for the SECOND SEASON! The Alto Yellowjackets (3-2) host the Big Sandy Wildcats (2-3) in the District 10-2A opener on Friday, October 12th. The Jackets started fast with wins over Westwood, Timspon, and New Diana but fell in the next two games vs. Garrison and Corrigan-Camden. The Mean Sting had a bye last week. Big Sandy has lost to San Augustine, defeated Alba-Golden and Timpson, but have lost two in a row to Mineola and Rivercrest. This game has playoff implications as both will be looking to get a leg up in the district standings and challenge undefeated Carlisle. Who ends their two-game losing streak and gets in the win column with a very important 1-0 record in district?!

The Alto Yellowjackets host a different set of Bulldogs this week when Corrigan-Camden comes to town for the 2018 Alto Homecoming game. Both the Jackets and Bulldogs took one on the chin Friday night when Alto (3-1) fell to Garrison (2-2) 35-21 while CC (3-1) was blanked by Joaquin (4-0) 21-0. Not what either team wanted, but time to move forward in the last tune-up game before district play. Who gets the win?!

The Alto Yellowjackets (3-0) host their old district rival Garrison Bulldogs (1-2) this coming Friday. The Jackets are coming off a penalty-filled game at New Diana (32-14 W) while the Bulldogs surprised some by defeating state-ranked San Augustine (48-39). The Mean Sting has had some great battles with the ‘Dawgs through the years and I figure this will be another one to add to the list. Looking forward to the Friday night lights in Alto on the 21st! Who takes this game?

The Alto Yellowjackets (2-0) are off to a fast start in the 2018 season while the New Diana Eagles (0-2) have struggled after graduating a huge senior class. The Mean Sting opened with wins over Westwood (48-28) and Timpson (51-27) while the Eagles fell to White Oak (35-7) and Harmony (53-13). Who takes this one?

The Alto Yellowjackets (1-0) host their former district rival Timpson Bears (1-0) in pre-season football action. The Jackets defeated Westwood 48-28 in the season opener while the Bears took care of Hemphill 36-26. Should be an interesting matchup!

Alto (10-2A D1) travels to Palestine Westwood (11-3A D1) Friday to open the 2018 football season under new head coach Ricky Meeks (OC Tatum). Kick-off is 7:30. The Jackets are coming off their first losing season in 30 years (4-7) while Westwood, after opening last year with a win over Frankston, lost their remaining games to finish the season 1-9. Westwood is also under new leadership this year as Richard Bishop (OC Grapevine) takes over. Which first-time head coach gets his very first win?
