Kincaide Stadium in Dallas, Texas LONGVIEW BROADCAST: 106.5 FM JACK FM FRISCO LONE STAR BROADCAST: n/a SERIES TIED 0-0-0 The two schools have never played a non-district contest. The two schools have never played a game is a district contest. The two schools have never played a playoff contest. The two schools have never played at a neutral location. The two schools have never played at Longview. The two schools have never played at Frisco Lone Star. The two schools have never played at Lobo Stadium. The two schools have never played on November 18th. LAST FIVE GAMES IN SERIES: First meeting. FULL GAME LOG GAME PREVIEW & SERIES REVIEW: Onto Round 2. The Longview Lobos, after seeing Crosby take a 15-7 lead in the first half of the first quarter, rolled their way to 42 unanswered points in a route of the Cougars at Lobo Stadium. The win improved Longview to 11-0 on the season with a large portion of that thanks to five touchdowns by junior Taylor Tatum. Another large part of the victory came in the hand of the Lobo defense, who held the Cougars to under 30 yards rushing. Longview's defense accounted for 13 sacks, and 19 tackles for loss in the game. Both were season highs. Longview's defense continues to dominate in the second half, registering their 9th consecutive game without allowing a second half point. Marshall is the only team this season to score against Longview's defense in the second half, a third quarter touchdown and following two point conversion. Longview has allowed a fourth quarter touchdown, but that came in a victory over North Mesquite thanks in part to a fumbled returned for a score. The Lobos now turn west as they are set to take on a Frisco ISD school for the first time in their football history. Perennial power Frisco Lone Star stands in Longview's way in round two as the Rangers are coming off a dominating 55-15 victory over Richland. The Rangers used a suffocating defense against the Royals to run out to a 41-7 halftime lead in the victory. The Rangers rushed for 362 yards on the night as they won their 7th contest in a row. Lone Star's last loss came against Frisco Wakeland, 38-10, back in late September. This will be the second consecutive DCTF Pre-Season Top 10 team Longview will face, after facing off against Crosby last week who came in at No. 6 in the state. Frisco Lone Star started the season No. 5 in the state before falling to Frisco Reedy in week three, 13-7. In both of their losses, the Rangers lost the turnover battle. Against Reedy, the Rangers committed 3 turnovers while against Wakeland, they committed 6. For the Lobos, they head back to a stadium that has been labeled as Lobo Stadium West. Friday's contest will be Longview's 12th all-time playoff game at Kincaide Stadium, one that saw Longview win 11 in a row there before the Lobos' last visit in 2019. The Lobos are 5-1 all-time in Area round games there, but also 11-1 all-time with one regular season game at Kincaide. Overall, this will be Longview's 29th all-time Area round match up. The Lobos are 19-9 in the previous 28 Area round contests, but also 12-3 under head coach John King in Area round games. The Lobos have defeated state-ranked Lancaster in the last two second round match ups. The Lobos will be looking to improve to 12-0 on the season for just the 6th time in program history. On top of program history, Longview's Taylor Tatum will be three touchdowns away from becoming the all-time touchdown leader in a season in program history. Tatum's five touchdowns against Crosby tied a school record for rushing scores in a game, and tied a record for playoff touchdowns in a game. For Lone Star, as program, they have found a lot of early playoff success since their opening in 2010. The Rangers are 6-2 in Area Round games since opening, though did suffer a 55-21 loss to College Station last season in the Area round. Win the Rangers do lose playoff games, they usually lose them by multiple scores. Only the 2017 loss to Mansfield Legacy in the State Quarterfinal was decide by less than two scores in their history. As coach King enters his 64th playoff game as Lobo head coach, Friday's game will once again be about concentrating on his own team. The Lobos have had just one game this season that was decided by a single score, all the way back in week five against Lancaster. In 1955, Tony Rothrock scored twice as Dub Thomas put it away in the fourth quarter in a 18-6 Longview victory over Texas High. The Lobos managed just one pass completion on the night, a touchdown to Rothrock. In 1960, Cue Boykin’s 10 yard run in the 3rd quarter as the difference maker in the game as Lufkin knocked off Longview, 14-7, at Loob Stadium. Five Lobo turnovers did Longview in on the day.
