  1. Sources have told me Hughes Springs I.S.D. wants to reassign Chris Edwards, who has been coaching in the district for 25-years and the last 16-years as the head coach. I've learned Edwards was informed last week the school district doesn't want him to be the athletic director or head football coach going forward. Edwards has taken the Mustangs to the state playoffs in 15 of his 16 years as the head coach, missing the playoffs his third year in Hughes Springs (2009). Edwards is 108-71 overall as the head coach at Hughes Springs including 3-8 this season. I once had an East Texas football coach tell me how respected Coach Edwards was throughout the region and it was well known anyone could contact him for advice in running an athletic department or football program.
  2. I'm interested to see what everyone's thoughts are. Malakoff and Pottsboro are the teams to beat right now. Sabine is looking really good. D7 is getting dicey, and I think all 5 teams could make a run. I think Hooks is the dark horse in the region.
  3. A must win for NB! Heck, i guess a must win for HS and a little help since they’re on BYE in week 11. poll please
  4. Alright. Here we go. Hughes Springs has slain the mighty Bulldogs. Will they give Atlanta their first loss at home on their new turf?
  5. The more I look at the map and the numbers turned in last week, the more I think this district is possible: Daingerfield New Boston Hughes Springs Winnsboro Redwater Mount Vernon Prairiland I think this would be a good, strong district with several natural rivalries. The Daingerfield/Hughes Springs matchup would be fun because both teams have been good lately and the towns are within walking distance of each other. You already have a natural rivalry between Winnsboro and Mount Vernon. The New Boston/Daingerfield rivalry would continue to grow. Redwater/Winnsboro could be intriguing. Hughes Springs/New Boston would also be exciting. The driving would be minimal, as each town is fairly accessible off the I-30 corridor. Thoughts?
