LONGVIEW LOBOS (10-2) VS KLEIN COLLINS TIGERS (7-5) DATE: Saturday, November 30th TIME: 2:00 PM LOCATION: John Outlaw Memorial Field at Abe Martin Stadium in Lufkin, Texas LONGVIEW BROADCAST: 106.5 FM JACK FM KLEIN COLLINS BROADCAST: n/a LONGVIEW LIVE STREAM: Longview ISD Athletics KLEIN COLLINS LIVE STREAM: n/a LOBOS LEAD SERIES 1-0-0 The two schools have never played a non-district contest. The two schools have never played a game at Longview. The two schools have never played a game at Klein Collins. Longview won the last meeting with the Tigers. The two schools have never played at Abe Martin Stadium The two schools have never played on November 30th. LAST FIVE GAMES IN SERIES: 12.02.20117 - Longview 30, Klein Collins 24 - McLane Stadium FULL GAME LOG GAME PREVIEW: A miraculous comeback to extend their season is probably not something most Longview fans expected when they saw their Lobos trailing by 14-points on three separate occasions on Friday night in Dallas. Returning to their home away from home for the first time since a crushing comeback by Aledo back in 2022 in the State semi-Finals, Longview entered John E. Kincaide Stadium looking to enact some revenge on a Tigers team that knocked Longview out of post season play in 2023. The Lobos did just that, in a way that no one expected. The 10-6A district champions entered the fourth quarter trailing 28-14, and mustering just three first downs the entire night thus far. Back to back turnovers, giving the Lobos the ball on the Tiger side of the field helped spear head Longview into a tie, following a 40+ yard reception by Lobo sensation Kelvin Washington with under a minute to go. After grabbing the lead for the first time on the night in their first possession of overtime, Longview's Kason Brooks speared headed an unbelievable defensive performance by forcing a fumble again and the Lobos ended their newly formed rivals' season for the fourth time in the post season. Awaiting Longview is a foe the Lobos have met once before in much different circumstances. Back in 2017, the Klein Collins Tigers were highly ranked and fresh off a 12-0 start to the season. A season that saw the Tigers being barely tested throughout. Even in that meeting, Collins jumped out to a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter via two Isaiah Spiller scores as they dominated the Lobo offense early. But similar to this season, Longview had a sophomore quarterback that was widely regarded amongst Lobos who ended up passing for a school record, at the time, four passing touchdowns in a post season game to help lead Longview to the State Quarterfinals for the first time since 2010 on the state's highest level (Lobos had made the Quarters two years prior in 5A before returning to 6A). Since that meeting, the two programs have gone separate ways with different levels of success. Longview won their first state title in 80+ years the following year, before returning to the State Semi-Finals in 2022, and has reached at least the third round every year minus 2019. Klein Collins, however, has reached the third round of the post season just once since the Lobos and Tigers first met, in 2019. Both teams would have met again, in 2019, if not for Dallas Jesuit's EJ Smith knocking both teams out in the process (27-25 vs Longview in Area and 28-21 vs Klein Collins in the Regional Semis). Both teams will bring in strong rushing attacks to their first meeting in seven years. For Longview, the Lobos will bring in a back of Kelvin Washington looking to make history on several fronts. Washington enters the Klein Collins just 77 yards away from 2,000 rushing yards for the season. He would become just the third Lobo to ever rush for 2,000 yards in a single season if he were to do so. He's also looking to break the single season rushing record set by Lobo legend, Fred Talley, back in 1997. He is 130 yards from tying Talley's school record. His two touchdowns against Lancaster pushed him to 31 total touchdowns this season, the second Lobo to ever record 30-touchdowns in a single season. He sits five touchdowns away from tying Taylor Tatum's school record of 36 touchdowns, set in 2022. He's unlikely to reach the mark for rushing touchdowns in a season, sitting 10 rushing scores away from getting that. However he could become the second highest rushing scoring if he were to get four more the rest of the way. He also sits four touchdowns away from moving into second all-time in touchdowns in a career at Longview. Three more would make him the third Lobo to ever register 60 touchdowns in a career at Longview. The two teams will battle at Abe Martin Stadium in Lufkin, a much different venue no doubt from their first meeting at Baylor's McLane Stadium. For Longview, it is a return to a stadium that once was a spot of horror into a spot that the Lobos have made a second home as of late. After having gone 1-10 at Abe in 11 visits between 1999 and 2016, Longview has since won five consecutive games at Abe, including their season opener this season. Longview's last visit to Lufkin during the post season was back in 2022 when the Lobos blasted Port Arthur Memorial, 51-7, in the 5A Division I Region II Semi-Finals. No doubt, it'll be a battle for both squads this week as the two teams look to reached the State Quarterfinals and face off against either Willis or DeSoto. In 1933, Longview defeated Athens, 7-6, at Fair Park in Longview. In 1934, the Lobos defeated Kilgore, 19-7, at Bulldog Stadium in Kilgore. In 1996, after taking the lead on a 32-yard David Monsavais field goal with a little over three minutes left, the Lobos weren’t able to hold off the Eagles of Killeen Ellison as a 19-yard Rocky Danners field goal as time expired lifted Ellison to a 17-16 victory over Longview at Pennington Field in the 5A D1 State Quarterfinals. In 2002, trailing 14-7 at halftime, Rogers Taylor hauled in a Joel Armstrong pass before Joel Armstrong’s 6-yard run with 1:52 remaining lifted Longview past the Spring Lions, 20-17, at the Astrodome in Houston in the 5A Division II Region II Semi-Finals. In 2013, Longview and A&M Consolidated battled back and forth in an offensive affair that combined for over 800 yards of offense. However, a 43-yard interception return for a score and a 50-yard fumble return for a score were the knock out punches for the Tigers as A&M Consolidated knocked off Longview 45-35 at Midlothian ISD Stadium.

In 1946, Don Barton caught a pass 15-yards down field and went the the full 75 for a Longview touchdown, and a tying extra point leveled the game at 13-13 between the Lobos and Mavericks at Lobo Stadium. John Rogerson also netted a score for the Lobos. In 1957, Tommy Matthews rushed over from three yards out as time expired but the extra point failed to hit as Longview and Tyler High tied at 19-19 at Lobo Stadium. The Lobos managed 25 first downs to just 11 for Tyler. In 1963, Jimmy Wells hauled in a 7-yard reception followed by a 2 point conversion with 1 minutes left to lift Tyler High over Longview, 8-7, at Lobo Stadium. Mike Pugh tallied Longview’s only score in the first quarter. In 1968, Alton Coley rushed for two scores and Mark Hill rushed for another as Longview knocked off the Tyler Lions, 20-13, at Rose Stadium. After opening the 2024 season with two wins against East Texas foes, the Longview Lobos suffered back to back loss at home for the first time in two and a half decades. Granted, both of those teams were ranked #2 in their respective states and coming off appearances in each's state title games. However, expectations at Longview are what they are. And two losses, to teams the Lobos have dominated throughout the years in South Oak Cliff and Ruston were not acceptable. Since then, the entire shift of a season has changed for Longview. After opening district with a stunning 63-34 victory over Rockwall, ending the Yellowjackets' 17-game district winning streak, the Lobos showed up to Forney expecting a battle after last season 13-7 slugfest between the two. However, what we received was a complete blow out in favor of the Lobos. Longview streamrolled Forney, 41-14, in a game that was not even as close as the final score suggestions. Kelvin Washington, a week have registering a Lobo record 8-touchdowns in a singel game vs Rockwall, pushed out four rushing scores once again to lift the Lobos to their 17th consecutive district win. The district winning streak sits tied for fourth longest in Lobo history. In the 5 times Longview has won 17 or more district games in a row, four of them have now come under John King's reign as head coach. With the win, the Lobos moved to 3-0 all-time against a Jackrabbits club that is searching for answers a year after making the State Semi-Finals in 5A Division I. This leaves just two undefeated teams in 10-6A, in Longview's return year to Class 6A. While North Forney is having one of their best seasons thus far in school history, Longview will move back to Lobo Stadium to take on long time rival in the Tyler Legacy Red Raiders. Legacy seems themselves in a position they have not seen in quite a while, a winning record in district play after three games. The Red Raiders, after upsetting Rockwall Heath in overtime to open district, fell to North Forney a week ago prior to pulling out a 7-point win over Royse City this past Friday. The Red Raiders (3-4, 2-1) have turned their season around after opening the season with three straight ugly defeats including two to 5A Division II schools in Marshall and Texas High. The Lobos and Red Raiders meet for the 65th time on the gridiron this coming Friday, with the first meeting coming back in 1960. It has been a series the Lobos have nearly completely dominated over the years, but especially since 2003. Since dropping a Homecoming decision 18-14 back in 2003, the Lobos have reeled off 19 consecutive against their Rose City rivals and many of those games have not been close. Last season ended in a 28-7 Longview victory, after a storm delayed the game once the teams got to halftime and caused the game to become a half game. The 28 points were the lowest the Lobos have scored against the Red Raiders since 2008. Of course being a half game, the Lobos still were able to put up some impressive numbers in just two quarters, which saw Longview dominated throughout. The two teams return to Lobo Stadium to finish their match up, with Longview having won their last 9 games against the Red Raiders at home. Overall, the Lobos bring a 48-14-2 record all-time against Tyler Legacy. The Red Raiders get their wins in spurts against the Lobos, with a three game winning streak occurring from both 1963 to 1965 and 1969 to 1971, prior to their longest winning streak of five against Longview from 1998 to 2002. The Lobos will be shooting for school history on Friday night with their winning streak of the Red Raiders. From 1969 to 1987, Longview defeated Marshall 19 consecutive games. With the Lobos holding a 19-game winning streak that tied the school record last season, Longview will look to knock off the Red Raiders once more and set their school record of 20 consecutive wins against a single team for the first time in school history. The biggest goal, no doubt however, has to be Longview keeping pace with North Forney, who sits at 3-0 in district. North Forney gets their first big test of the district season as they travel to Rockwall this week. A win over Tyler Legacy would pull the Lobos to within one win of their 24th consecutive playoff appearance. The story of week 1 football for the Longview Lobos and the Lufkin Panthers as the two old rivals met for the 87th time this past Friday night at Abe Martin Stadium. It was the definition of opening week football as the two schools struggled to move the ball against either teams' defense. Both scores came on fluke plays that probably shouldn't of happened. Longview was shut out until the final play of the first half, when the Lobos were granted an extra play due to a Lufkin players' helmet coming off which stopped the clock. After fumbling the hand off, Longview's Kelvin Washington picked the ball up and scrambled 48-yards for what would end up being the only touchdown of the contest. Lufkin's three points came midway at the start of the fourth quarter. However, the play never should have happened, as the Lobos forced Lufkin back on 4th down...only for the refs to grant Lufkin an extra play and a fifth down. The three points for Lufkin ended nearly an 11-quarter scoring drought against the Lobos. At the end of the day, Longview will be much happier to work on things following a win than following a loss, and that's what they do this week after winning their 8th in a row over their southern rivals. The win marked Longview's 11th win over Lufkin in the last 12 meetings. Now Longview turns their attention to their eastern rivals, in the Marshall Mavericks. Marshall's season was off to a rough start after fumbling the opening kickoff against the Tyler Lions. However, the Mavs turned things around and rolled to a second half, 41-14 victory over Cujo. The win for Marshall over Tyler was just their second since 1998, and their largest since 1989. The two long time rivals will face off for the 114th time, the third longest series in Texas High School Football history. Longview has won the last eight meetings against Marshall, and 22 of the last 23 meetings. The lone loss for the Lobos since 2001, was a 28-25 loss at Maverick Stadium in 2015. That loss is the only loss for the Lobos at Maverick Stadium since 2000. winning 10 of the last 11 visits there. Overall, the Lobos are a dominating 17-5 at new Maverick Stadium, which opened in 1980. Friday's 7-3 victory was Longview's lowest scoring victory since defeating John Tyler 7-3 back in 1985. It was just the 5th time in the John King era that Longview had score 7 points or less in a game, which dates back to 2004. Marshall will be looking to do something on Friday that they haven't done in nearly a century. Marshall's last non-district win over the Lobos came back in 1931, when the Mavs walked away with a 14-0 victory. Longview has won 18 non-district contests between the two sense, almost coming since Marshall dropped to Class 4A in 2002. The two schools first met in 1909, when Longview and Marshall battled to a 0-0 tie at Brown Park in Marshall. The larger city of Marshall dominated in the early going, until the tides turned in the early '30s. After taking their final break in the series, in 1932, Longview has taken control of the series overall, with a 64-24-3 record against Marshall since. To continue the winning ways, Longview must protect the ball better as the Lobos, for the second consecutive season opener, fumbled the ball away three times. Longview's defense was able to force it's own turnovers in the second half with two interceptions, however two fourth down stops by Lufkin stole points from the Lobos that prevented Longview from another multiple win score over the Pack. It’s what makes our game of football loved across the state of Texas. For the Longview Lobos and the Lufkin Panthers, the 87th edition of their long stand rivalry stands at an interesting intersection. Fresh off being district mates for the first time in nearly two decades, the Lobos and Panthers resume their non-district series with the Lobos having dominated the Panthers by an 98-7 scoreline the last two seasons. The wins marked the second largest back to back wins over the Panthers in program history for the Lobos. It also helped extend Longview’s winning streak over the Pack to seven games, the longest in program history. Since ending Lufkin’s 11-game winning streak back in 2007, Longview has controlled the series apart from a year or two by winning 15 of the last 19 meetings. Four of those 19 meetings were playoff games. Despite this, the two programs head into the 2024 campaign on different paths. Longview opens their 115th season with many questions. After being top Class 5A each of the last two seasons, gone are the days of Taylor Tatum and Jalen Hale with a host of new Lobos looking to make a name for themselves. Questions surround the program following the blowing of a 14-lead in last season’s Regional Semi-Final against Lancaster. Talent will not be lacking at Longview, but with a jump back up into Class 6A and a return to facing the likes of Rockwall and Rockwall Heath, along with two new programs in North Forney and Royse City, can the Lobos continue their high level of play? Lufkin, on the other hands, remains in Class 5A but with many different faces. The hope around the Panther program as they head into 2024 continues to build as Lufkin feels this is their best chance at a district title since 2019. Lufkin was given a life line in their deep playoff hopes by moving over to Region 3 after previously being put in a district with the likes of Highland Park, Joshua, Cleburne, Burleson Centennial, Midlothian, Red Oak and Tyler. Distance alone would have been beyond taxing on the Lufkin Panther team who is vying for their first playoff berth since 2020. Along with their good fortunates provided by the UIL, Lufkin returns a host of players that have heightened the exception again in Panther town. A belief that Lufkin can not only beat the Lobos, but win district and advance deep into the playoffs is the highest it’s been in Lufkin in a long time. As Longview and Lufkin head into their 87th meeting, Longview looks to continue that momentum against the Panthers. The Lobos have stretched the overall series against the Pack to 45-37-4, tying their largest lead in the history of the series. Longview will also head into Abe Martin Stadium looking to win their school record 5th in a row at Abe Martin. The Lobos have defeated Lufkin each of the previous two meetings they have faced off at Abe Martin Stadium. Longview also defeated Beaumont West Brook and Port Arthur Memorial in their current four-game winning streak in Lufkin. The Lobos lost the ball 5 fumbles due to fumbles but still managed to outgain the Mavs, 325-235. In 2013, despite leading the entire game, Longview saw Coppell tally for 20 unanswered points in the 4th quarter from Allen’s Eagle Stadium in a 32-24 Cowboy win to open the season. Longview’s Dezmond Chumley threw for 228-yards and two scores in the loss. The Cowboys added their final touchdown with 6 seconds to play. In 2019, despite threw turnovers, the Lobos were able to hold off Lufkin’s fourth quarter surge to knocked off the Panthers at Abe Martin Stadium, 24-21. The Lobos outgained the Panthers 471-357, but a late interception deep in Lobo territory had to see the Lobo defense come to live to stop the Pack. Haynes King’s 6-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winning touchdown.

Kincaide Stadium FULL GAME LOG GAME PREVIEW & SERIES REVIEW: Two years ago, Longview and Lancaster were realigned into the same district fresh off back to back Area Round playoff meetings that saw the Lobos pull away from the Tigers. Going into the 2022 season, the full expectation across the state was a rematch in the post season. That was denied after Frisco Reedy upset Lancaster in the second round. Going into this season, the full expectation was Lancaster/Longview rematch as the Tigers came into the season ranked fourth in the state but favorites to win the district crown over the number two ranked Lobos. The expectation was crushed early as Longview rolled over the Tigers in the first meeting at Lancaster, sending the Tigers to a 1-4 season start. The Tigers had different plans from their poor early start however, as the Tigers rolled into their unexpected rematch with the Lobos having now won five in a row, including knocking off district champion La Porte in South Texas before getting past Frisco Wakeland by 16 points in the Area Round. The Tigers advanced to the third round for the first time since getting to the Quarterfinals in 2019. Longview won it’s 11th game in a row on Friday night, this time with Frisco Reedy being the victim, as the Lobos jumped out to 45 consecutive points in route to a 52-14 win over the Lions. Longview has now defeated its two playoff opponents by a combined scored of 111-21. The win was Longview’s four consecutive area round win and their 80th all-time playoff victory. John King won his 51st playoff game as head coach of the Lobos, more than double of all other combined coaches prior to him. The 50+ points in consecutive playoff games marked the second time in program history that the Lobos have done that, the only other time coming in 2018 when the Lobos opened their run to the state title game with three consecutive 50+ point outings. The big question for the Lobos will be can Taylor Tatum play moving forward? Tatum hit the 4,000 rushing yard mark as a Lobo with his first half against Frisco Reedy that saw the senior hit 137 yards rushing with two touchdowns. John King confirmed that X-rays were held in the second half of the game while the Lobos ran away from the Lions. For the Lobos, in program history, this will be the seventh time that Longview has had a rematch from the regular season in the post season. Four times Longview has had a rematch with Lufkin in the post season from the regular season, while also meeting Mesquite Horn and Denton Ryan in similar fashion. The only time that Longview met a team in the regular season and didn’t have the same exact result play out in the post season came in 2014 against Lufkin, when the Lobos erased a 28-point deficit to defeat the Panthers, 43-42, after getting blown out to start the season, 44-14. This will be the sixth meeting between the Lobos and Tigers, with Longview having won all of them dating back to 2008. The closest meeting between the two teams was last season district game, where Longview came from behind to defeat Lancaster 21-13. This will be the fourth all-time playoff meeting between the two programs, the closest contest being a 20-point Longview win in 2021, that saw the Lobos explode for 24 unanswered points late in the third and fourth quarters in a 34-14 victory. Longview will be looking to advance to the State Quarterfinals for the second consecutive year, and the 17th time in program history. In 1933, Jim Whitten scored two times, including a 100-yard interception return to lift Longview to a 29-12 win over Lufkin at Panther Stadium. In 1938, Gladewater ended Longview’s season with a 26-6 victory at Lobo Stadium. It was the Bears’ first ever victory over the Lobos. In 1949, Jerry Stewart rushed for four scores while Sonny Jones tried to match with two scores for the Lobos but it wasn’t enough as Gladewater knocked off Longview, 34-27, at Bear Stadium. The Lobos trailed 34-7 heading into the 4th before making their comeback. That’s all that stands between the Longview Lobos and a program 42nd district championship. The Lobos moved to within one win of that district title following their 36-13 victory over the McKinney North Bulldogs. In the win, the Lobos were able to overcome a mini curse they’ve found themselves in with McKinney ISD Stadium. Longview had previously lost 23-21 to state ranked McKinney to open the season, after having already previously lost to the North Bulldogs back in 2021 at McKinney ISD, 37-35, in a massive upset that saw the Lobos turn the ball over five times in the loss. This week, the Lobos..behind Taylor Tatum and Kelvin Washington..rushed all over the Bulldogs, racking up over 300 yards rushing. It marked the fourth straight game the Lobos have rushed for over 274 yards. In the win, Taylor Tatum picked up two rushing scores…bringing him within one rushing tally of Kaden Meredith’s all-time rushing touchdown mark as a Lobo. Tatum continued his overall total touchdown mark with his 62nd and 63rd. Longview now turns to senior night against long time rival Tyler, in the 100th edition of the Lobos and Cujo facing off on the gridiron. The Lions come into the contest much improved from previously seasons, sitting at 6-2 on the year. However, the Lions do not control their own destiny in the playoff race with losses to McKinney North and Lancaster in the district race. Tyler will end the season with Longview and Forney. The Lobos come in having won their last six contests against Cujo, having given up only 17 points in the last four games combined. Dating back to Tyler’s last trip to the State Championship game back in 2000, the Lobos own a 17-3 record against their western rivals with Cujo last claiming a victory in 2016. However, all three of losses to Tyler came at Lobo Stadium. No team has been more successful against Longview at Lobo Stadium under head coach John King than Tyler’s Lions, registering a 3-5 record against the Lobos. However, for John King’s Lobos on senior night, Longview sports a perfect 19-0 record. The win over Tyler will give Longview their 16th district title in 20 seasons under John King, with only the 2012, 2017, 2020 and 2021 Lobos not being able to secure a district crown. Longview is currently on a 13-game district winning streak dating back to 2021. Longview and Tyler’s 100th meeting will be the second 100th meeting against a program in Lobo history, behind only Marshall. The two programs first met back in 1912, when Longview knocked off Tyler, 13-7. The two teams were set to meet in 1910, but the game was cancelled. Tyler controlled a 7-game series lead back in 1965, but since then the Lobos have completely overtaken the Lions in the overall series. Since 1966, Longview is 37-16-2 against Tyler, with only a 7-year stretch between 1994 and 2000 that saw the Lions truly dominate the Lobos (6-1 during that time for Tyler). First, in 2020, the Lobos knocked off the #2 ranked Tigers 56-22 at Mesquite Memorial before watching Longview do the same less than a year later in a 34-14 defeat once again in the Area Round of the post season. Then came realignment, which saw Longview and Lancaster enter into the same district for the first time. Last year, the Tigers at halftime looked poised to knock off the Lobos at their own home. However, Longview pitched a second half shut out to knock off the Tigers once again, 21-13. It was the fourth straight win for the Lobos to open the series against one another. Now, Longview heads to Lancaster for the first time inside the confides of Beverly Humphrey Tiger Stadium. The two teams have taken completely different paths thus far in 2023. Longview opened the season with a close defeat to 6A state ranked McKinney High, 23-21, which saw the Lobos fall in the final seconds on a late field goal. Since then, the Lobos have rolled over their competition, outscoring them 112-14 with one game called at halftime. Lancaster has taken the opposite. Struggling in their season opener behind five turnovers, the Tigers knocked off Dallas Skyline 28-14 before getting blasted by two time defending state champion South Oak Cliff by 21. Despite a close loss to Denton Guyer at home, the Tigers saw their district opener again fall by the waist side in a shocking 28-21 loss to the McKinney North Bulldogs. For the Lobos, a 42-0 win over rivalry Lufkin has Longview riding high. Despite having their game cut in half against Tyler Legacy, the Lobos showed no fatigued outside of the first drive of the contest. After that, Longview used a stiffling defense and massive special teams play to give their offense great field position to dominate the Panthers all night long. The Tigers saw North jump out to a 21-0 lead, and while they climbed back into the contest, losing star back Kewan Lacy at the start of the fourth quarter really dimmed any hope of completing the comeback. Tiger Stadium will be the 122nd stadium Longview will have played in in their long, storied history. Two squads that are looking to push their seasons even further than they did last season. Last year, Longview of course fell in the State Semi-Finals. Lufkin, fresh off their first season of no playoffs in over 20 years, had a chance if results fell their way going into the final week of the year coupled with a win over state ranked Lancaster. However, the Tigers were able to claw a win out and prevent the Pack from advancing for the second straight season. Last year, Longview saw it's biggest margin of victory in the series history with a 56-7 win at Abe Martin Stadium. By far the most points Longview has ever scored against Lufkin in Lufkin. This year, a couple different paths have seen the two teams come into Lobo Stadium sitting at 3-0 and 2-1. Longview, despite grabbing a late lead against state ranked McKinney, saw the Lions reverse the night once more and pull out a two-point win with a last second field goal. The Lobos proceeded to follow up with an absolutely dominating victory over Marshall before seeing their game against Tyler Legacy ended at halftime due to storms despite a 28-7 Lobo lead. Lufkin on the other hand was marginally tested in their first two outings against Tyler Legacy and Nacogdoches, before requiring a come from behind victory in the final quarter against A&M Consolidated. The two teams head into Lobo Stadium looking to start district off right, with Longview's John King sitting at a near perfect 17-2 in district openers since taking over the Lobos in 2004. Longview has only lost in 2012 and 2017 (Mesquite, Mesquite Horn) in district opener under King. Lufkin will try to upset the #2 state ranked Lobos by not only trying to win their first game at Lobo Stadium since 2003, a streak that stretches eight different contests, but also record their first win over the Lobos in general since 2016. The Lobos have won six in a row over their rivals to the south, including two playoff victories. Lufkin's last visit to Lobo came in the COVID-2020 season, where the Lobos knocked off Lufkin 41-5 in bi-district play. The six-game winning streak for the Lobos over Lufkin is tied for the longest Lobo winning streak in series history, tying the 1980-1985 six-game streak. Overall, Longview has jumped out to a 12-2 record against Lufkin in their last 14 meetings. Longview is currently on a 15-game home winning streak, and is 36-1 in it's last 37 contests at Lobo.
