San Augustine (0-9 , 0-5) @ Grapeland (1-8, 0-5)
WolfNation posted a topic in High School SportsWell here we go, last game of the year is a battle of pure pride. Does San Augustine have it in them to shake off this horrible year and end off on a high note or will Grapeland be able to find their second win of the year and prove that they aren’t the worst the district has to offer? Last week San Augustine’s offense gained 238 yards. They were led on the field once again by Freshman QB Ty Cartwright who threw for 97 yards and ripped off a few big runs. Beside him in the backfield was fellow Freshman RB Andrew Nash who rushed for 86 yards on 10 carries, including a 75 yarder. When SA needed a big play they called on Junior ATH Demarion Teagle who had an insanely impressive toe tap catch for a touchdown and multiple tackle breaking runs. He ended the game with 52 rushing yards on 3 carries and 12 receiving yards and a touchdown off 2 catches. Senior WR Jamarion Henderson stood out as a reliable deep threat as well as being deadly in the open field. He caught two long balls amounting 73 yards and a touchdown, and took multiple kick returns deep into Garrison territory. I have basically zero information regarding Grapeland and their players. But it sounds like they have some big cats at skill positions. These teams last played in 2012 and 2013 where SA destroyed them both times for a combined score of 118-34. Kickoff is set for Friday at 7:00pm in Grapeland. Show some fight to end the year Wolves!
Garrison (6-2, 3-1) @ San Augustine (0-8, 0-4)
WolfNation posted a topic in High School SportsThe San Augustine Wolves will host the Garrison Bulldogs in a district game on Friday. Since 2008 the Wolves have won this matchup 6 times to Garrison’s 11. The last time these teams faced each other was a 31-30 slug fest in Garrison’s favor. SA is on a path to have their first winless season since 2009, whereas Garrison has been having an impressive season building upon their 4-5 2021 record where they made the playoffs and lost to Hawkins 31-20. San Augustine will be led on the field by Freshman QB Ty Cartwright who has shown impressive athleticism along with a few accurate deep balls. Surrounding him will be the teams leading receiver Senior Jamarion Henderson who is having his breakout year and Soph RB Kymron Davis and Freshman RB Andrew Nash who have both logged impressive games. On the defensive side you have Junior LB Alex Haskins who has been all over the field making tons of plays and Junior S Demarion Teagle making plenty open field tackles. They’re coming off a 46-59 loss to Shelbyville. For Garrison Junior QB Brayden Davidson will lead an offense on a hot streak coming off a 56-8 win against Grapeland last week and a 64-34 win in Shelbyville the week before. He has thrown for over 500 yards with an 11-1 TD to INT ratio. But they are a run heavy team led by Juniors Omarion Raspberry and Javien Black. Raspberry is averaging 9.3 yards per carry to the tune of 900 yards. Black has 580. Familiar names lead their defense as well with Brayden Davidson leading the way with 95 tackles 10 tfl and a sack from the LB position, and Javien Black with 64 tackles, 10 tfl, and 3 sacks. These teams always play each other hard and with a lot of passion. Will the Wolves be able to capture their first win of the season or will Garrison continue their impressive stretch into the playoffs?
San Augustine (0-7, 0-3) @ Shelbyville (4-3, 1-3)
WolfNation posted a topic in High School SportsIt’s game day so why not make a page for it. Since 2012 this matchup has been 6-4 in SA’s favor. Last year Shelbyville had a 36 point close out victory. Can San Augustine get their first win of the season?
The Alto Yellowjackets will host the San Augustine Wolves this Saturday at Cam’ron Matthews Field at Jacket Stadium; kick-off has been moved to SATURDAY at 2:00 p.m. The Jackets won the 599th game in program history this past Friday by defeating the West Sabine Tigers 48-22 to even the season record at 1-1; it was Coach Grigsby’s first career win as a head coach! The Wolfpack fought hard against Tenaha but fell in an overtime nail biter 12-6. In Week 1 SA fell to Hemphill 44-0 while Alto fell to Shelbyville 48-44. This will be the 31st meeting between the schools with Alto leading the series 20-10-0. Usually a battle between these two! Who ya got?
The Alto Yellowjackets will host the San Augustine Wolves this week. The Mean Sting got their first win of the season 42-7 against the Winona Wildcats on Friday. San Augustine fell 62-7 to a talented West Rusk squad. The Jackets have only played one other game (a first week loss to undefeated Troup) and then had a couple weeks off because of Covid. The Wolves started the season with a win over West Sabine but have dropped the next games to Beaumont Kelly, Elkhart and then West Rusk. Both squads have new coaches this season. The Wolves are a young group and the Jackets are feeling confident after putting together a good win at home. San Augustine won last year’s contest 48-20. Alto leads the series 19-10. Who gets their second win of the season?
The Alto Yellowjackets will travel to San Augustine to take on the Wolves for Week 5 pre-district action. The Jackets’ game with Winona was cancelled while San Augustine fell to Winnsboro. Alto leads the series 19-9 and has won the last 7 of 10 games but San Augustine has been beast mode and the team to beat the last three years as Region 3 champs. Who ya got?

District 23 1A Basketball
SAWolfman posted a topic in High School SportsSan Augustine will be the favorite in this district. Currently sitting at #9 in the 1A Div 1 polls. West Sabine should take 2nd...they are ranked currently at #20. I see Brookeland possibly taking the second spot or third. Brookeland and Broaddus will be fighting that one out. SA had a good win over Joaquin tonight 108-37
SA vs Mart
